    This is reminding me of the incident that got me to leave SB, in which an admin declared that I was committing hate speech by defending paedophiles. That wasn't the angle that got me to give up, but it was still pretty crazy.

    Honestly, that's just weird. Defending pedophiles doesn't make sense as hate speech just from a technical standpoint. Like, who is the hate directed at?

    Hate speech would only make sense if there was some sort of comparison, like if you were comparing it to homosexuality and they assumed you were gay bashing or something.

    Having gotten this clarified over PM to avoid airing political stuff in the details, apparently they did actually classify defending pedophiles as running afoul of their hate speech rules. One would think they'd pick a different rule to not make it so obviously hypocritical, but I suppose I did say earlier that they were refreshingly honest in their bigotry.
