• The site has now migrated to Xenforo 2. If you see any issues with the forum operation, please post them in the feedback thread.
  • An addendum to Rule 3 regarding fan-translated works of things such as Web Novels has been made. Please see here for details.
  • Due to issues with external spam filters, QQ is currently unable to send any mail to Microsoft E-mail addresses. This includes any account at live.com, hotmail.com or msn.com. Signing up to the forum with one of these addresses will result in your verification E-mail never arriving. For best results, please use a different E-mail provider for your QQ address.
  • For prospective new members, a word of warning: don't use common names like Dennis, Simon, or Kenny if you decide to create an account. Spammers have used them all before you and gotten those names flagged in the anti-spam databases. Your account registration will be rejected because of it.
  • Since it has happened MULTIPLE times now, I want to be very clear about this. You do not get to abandon an account and create a new one. You do not get to pass an account to someone else and create a new one. If you do so anyway, you will be banned for creating sockpuppets.
  • Due to the actions of particularly persistent spammers and trolls, we will be banning disposable email addresses from today onward.
  • The rules regarding NSFW links have been updated. See here for details.

Smiley in URL

Think you can stop that by adding [Plain][/Plain] around the URL? Will test it- x3. Yep, that works. I'm not sure they can disable it automatically doing that by default; people (like me) have certainly been infrequently annoyed by it, so I'd expect it's been requested.

If you're writing the URL manually, yes. But when you embed a video XF automatically inserts the link beneath it. You can't wrap the whole embedding in [Plain][/Plain], because that would disable the embedding too.

Hmm. *shrugs* Doesn't seem to affect ability to follow the link, anyhow.

Try [ media=YouTube ]url[ /media ] without spaces.

The following line contains [media=YouTube]https://youtu.be/Tjlx3-xq3l4?feature=shared[/media]:

Edit: As you can see, it produces no result at all. Additionally, even if it did work, it would not solve the bug I am reporting: that auto-inserted URLs should be immune to smileys but are not.

The problem is that part of url reads as an emoji/smiley... So to prevent that, ALL smileys need to be prevented/blocked on backend

The actual bug is text being converted to smileys AT ALL. Smileys come from the smiley picker and should have a [smiley] tag or something to turn them INTO smileys.
If I write XD I mean POKEMON XD GALE OF DARKNESS, don't make me put [plains] around random clumps of symbols to stop strange things from happening.
Fortunately this doesn't seem to be happening to me.

That'd be because XD isn't on the list of smilies. While
Code:
x3
is.
