I've tried to come back to Gone Native in various forms over the years, but none of them stuck because of how I ended Going Native. Tarble is locked into a really depressing headspace that I struggle to write in these days.

And, I knew that if I was going to commit to a rewrite, it would need to be sufficiently different from the original, or I'd get bored rehashing the same plotlines, and it'd go the way most rewrites go: abandoned.
