• The site has now migrated to Xenforo 2. If you see any issues with the forum operation, please post them in the feedback thread.
  • An addendum to Rule 3 regarding fan-translated works of things such as Web Novels has been made. Please see here for details.
  • Emergency notice: We are currently being invaded by zombies. See this thread for details.
  • Due to issues with external spam filters, QQ is currently unable to send any mail to Microsoft E-mail addresses. This includes any account at live.com, hotmail.com or msn.com. Signing up to the forum with one of these addresses will result in your verification E-mail never arriving. For best results, please use a different E-mail provider for your QQ address.
  • For prospective new members, a word of warning: don't use common names like Dennis, Simon, or Kenny if you decide to create an account. Spammers have used them all before you and gotten those names flagged in the anti-spam databases. Your account registration will be rejected because of it.
  • Since it has happened MULTIPLE times now, I want to be very clear about this. You do not get to abandon an account and create a new one. You do not get to pass an account to someone else and create a new one. If you do so anyway, you will be banned for creating sockpuppets.
  • Due to the actions of particularly persistent spammers and trolls, we will be banning disposable email addresses from today onward.
  • The rules regarding NSFW links have been updated. See here for details.

Questionable Questing

To be fair, I did have other examples I could have cited; it's just that they all had to do with their coverage of Trump, which I assumed that he would have rejected out of hand.

That said, I personal believe that bad reporting that leads to massive death tolls and suffering is worse than intentionally false reporting.

Intentionally false reporting makes a source totally unreliable. Bad reporting, even if dangerous, doesn't, although it certainly makes it less so.

The problem lies in whether or not one is willing to give them the benefit of the doubt; it's entirely possible that they went ahead with the story even knowing that there was a great chance it wasn't true.

Personally, I've seen enough of their reporting that I'm not willing to give the Times that sort of consideration; but then I suppose the same is true of those who denounce Breitbart.

I can't honestly say I know much about the New York Times. But, yes, for me at least, breitbart is a source I would never accept as solid proof by itself. It's like the Daily Mail, only without any laws saying it can't outright lie....

To be fair, I don't think Breitbart is reliable as a source either; it's just that I don't think anything is a reliable source these days, aside from cold hard facts.
