Boy do I have a story. New windows update didn't like old network driver, new network driver didn't like old driver update script, uninstalling old script didn't work correctly and caused windows update to heart attack on startup, while network card caused a heart attack when network load was too high.

The startup slowdown was so intense from the old script bugging out that it caused one of the other startup programs to also heart attack, keeping me from shutting down properly. I was having to restart nine or ten times to get enough time to try and get something figured out or see what a problem was before it locked up again.

But! I got the new driver sorted out and script removed, I think, so after running a chkdsk to see if the probably hundreds of times I've had to restart, sometimes abruptly, damaged the hard drive I'll be good to go. Probably. At the very least I've gotten it so that it'll give me a few hours before it craps out, which is enough to type.

Not really. My network card has some kind of problem where it functions perfectly for somewhere between five minutes and five hours before it does, triggering some kind of loop that hangs up the whole computer.

It's remarkably frustrating, I only have the temperament to mess with it little by little. I have started the process of transferring files to a portable drive and will wipe soon if I have to. This shits pissing me off like you would not believe.
