Emergency notice: We are currently being invaded by zombies. See this thread for details.
Due to issues with external spam filters, QQ is currently unable to send any mail to Microsoft E-mail addresses. This includes any account at live.com, hotmail.com or msn.com.
Signing up to the forum with one of these addresses will result in your verification E-mail never arriving. For best results, please use a different E-mail provider for your QQ address.
For prospective new members, a word of warning: don't use common names like Dennis, Simon, or Kenny if you decide to create an account. Spammers have used them all before you and gotten those names flagged in the anti-spam databases. Your account registration will be rejected because of it.
Since it has happened MULTIPLE times now, I want to be very clear about this. You do not get to abandon an account and create a new one. You do not get to pass an account to someone else and create a new one. If you do so anyway, you will be banned for creating sockpuppets.
Due to the actions of particularly persistent spammers and trolls, we will be banning disposable email addresses from today onward.
The rules regarding NSFW links have been updated. See here for details.
I had that experience when I was writing a F/SN and Claymore crossover. My intent had been to write something "epic," but in doing so I'd tripped over some disgruntled folk here and there.
Looking back, I think they're entirely correct, but, if I had the willpower, I'd try to complete that story anyway. Not really in the interest of writing the story they wanted, but what I wanted, even if it was imperfect. Even if some people didn't like it, a lot of people did, and that's enough to stroke my ego.
So, if you're looking for advice or encouragement, I'd say put the story down, find something else to write, and then figure out how you want to complete it when you've distanced yourself from it (if you want).
No matter your decision, I hope you find something you enjoy!
I decided to stop writing for a while because I got torn to shreds by my audience over a quest in fiction.live. It left me in a very bad place, but eventually I realized that I couldn't get away from writing. Like it or not, it was my passion and I couldn't just give up on it.
I think, ultimately, you are writing for yourself and not an audience. Yes, their complaints and anger can hurt a lot, but there's nothing we can do about life to escape pain. There will always exist people who will try to put you down from doing something you like, because the world isn't all good.
