Not really, I didn't look into it that closely. But going by his personal message, we at least know why he thinks he was. And he did argue with an author in a similar way about a year earlier. And I've done the same a couple of times, I know how hard they side with the more popular user, regardless of if they were the ones to start hurling abuse or not.

And it has been the same when I've argued with popular authors in others threads. It makes some sense that they would, the popular authors keeps their site popular. But I'm not so fond of how quiet they are about it. How there's not even an annotation in the rules about it. I know it'd look bad, but I'd argue that this occasionally looks far worse.

Makes sense, I have seen him get heated in arguments but receive a worse punishment/be the only one to get the warning. I assume he has a reputation already so the mods went harder on him than other users

From personal experience I am betting on a bit of both being true. Politically based bias/narrative+favoritism, and him having the occasional emotional outburst hurling abuse first.

He's PROBABLY right that if it was completely unbiased, he'd get away with the occasional slap on the wrist. Some of them just a bit harder than others.

I have been in those shoes after all, I know it's there. Much like you hinted at.

I haven't seen his political arguments so I will take your word for it, I mean in general politics are against the rules so I assume that didn't help, anyways I was just wondering since I saw a comment of his in Musashi's AI story and saw that he was banned

Ahh, but it's not that he brings up politics. It's that ppl attach politics to everything, like discussing the viability of certain energy technology - It should be a purely scientific discussion, but it is made political. And it doesn't matter if it was the author that brought up the topic, if he made no political allusions in the discussion, or if someone else started calling him names for his take.

You can in short get a hammer on you for having the "wrong political opinion"(even if it's a scientific take) in a debate about a story element. I've seen it happen repeatedly, and had it happen to me once or twice. And I was VERY careful to avoid any political takes on it, others weren't, and they didn't get any flak for it - Because they had "the right opinion" on it.

And I mean like: I tried to correct something incorrect in a story on a scientific level - I get abuse hurled at me by several individuals because my claims disagrees with their political opinions on it. I try to explain the why and how, I get more abuse hurled at me. I finally respond with some sarcasm, I get an immediate threadban and warning for breaking rules they've been breaking for like 3-6 posts already.
