Questionable Questing

It needed to be in lava to take any damage. And we accidentally moved away from lava. When we tried again, the Monk brutalized. A foe meant to be taken out with a environmental piston died.

Early levels are hell. I had Shadowheart as cleric casting Shield of Faith to up Armor Class by 2 and the damage is bad. Monk needs extra attack plus bonus action to shine. Up your dex and wis. Wis later at level six will become both your unarmored class and your wis modifier KI damage passive. Fist of Blue Sky is different from North Star and worth a read, takes place in Shang Hai

If you want to push yourself, avoid clerics or paladins with healing. It will crush you. Game is still challenging with Cleric, but you won't be party wiped as much

Paladin has smite. I flurry of blows topple to knock a boss Prone in Act one with high initiative of the 18 Dex my Monk had. She fell, hadn't taken any actions yet. She got up, used a Smite I think. The screen exploded. Numbers lit up, white flashed, icons glowed. She fucking killed past death saving throws my barbarian companion in one hit with a Smite.

Life Domain Cleric for healing features that increase healing range and power AND heal the Cleric when they heal others. Haven't tried other Domains.

I'm not usually good with keeping track of all these numbers and trying to build a meta enough build, but I do have to admit it does sound really cool.

I'm not playing Meta. Just keep dex and Wis high, and get equipment for unarmed combat boosts with gloves.

I don't know why game companies have that couple skills or that certain fighting style that is absolutely shit. I mean I get balancing can be a real pain in the ass, but I would rather have everything be overpowered rather than underpowered.
