Questionable Questing

But another interesting thing is that Gamestop got a new Ceo a couple year's ago, a guy who made his fortune building online markets for pet companies and wanted to get gamestop into the online video game market as well, and this new CEO also brought with him a couple hundred millions dollars of investment into the company.

After hearing of how fucked people are with digital games being deleted? I get why people want physical discs. Want to read a interlude Jackal did? It was edited with my notes, wild crazy shit
Andy333

So this got people thinking, hey maybe Gamestop is getting severally undervalued. it has a decent sized loyal audience, a huge store base, and lots of experience, if it played its cards right it could easily get out of its recent slump. So small investors on Robinhood and other apps were starting to buy Gamestop stock,
Andy333

and that's when they stumbled onto the fact that Gamestop stock was getting short squeezed up to like 60-70%, or in other words in a couple of months these billionaire hedge funds would have to buy back over half of the companies stock back at what ever price was on the market.
Andy333
Andy333
And if enough of these small time buyers bought the stock and held onto it they could artificially bring the price up and force the hedgefunds to pay outrageous prices for it. Or what's called a short squeeze
Andy333
Andy333
And that's how the price of stock for Gamestop went from 8 dollars to 300 dollars a share in a couple of weeks. I could talk about the drama with congress and how this whole event triggered a bunch of new regulations and even how Robinhood the app colluded with these hengefunds to end the short squeeze, but then we would be here all night.

But, anyways I would love to read Jackal's interlude. Sorry if I was talking too much about gamestop.

Do go on about Gamestop. I remember people mocking how the big corporate people were complaining about a unfair market now that more average people had control.

300 dollars a share is big? How many shares are there in total?
Andy333
Andy333
The current number of shares in Gamestop right now is 304,500,00. Now they actually increased their number of shares after the whole short squeeze fiasco, so they probably had several million shares less at the time. but imagine 300 bucks a pop and you are required by law to buy half of the shares available.

It was amazing how the corporate people complained about things that weren't even illegal
Andy333

there were several multi billion dollar hedge funds that either restructured or went bankrupt because of this whole thing. But again they got so stupid with how much they were short selling, looking to make a quick buck, that they lost the fucking plot.

That would add up. I don't need the math to know that makes big money quick

Bankrupt? How bad is that for them? What I know of bankruptucy is there is the bad kind and there is the get out of jail free card kind, and how you enjoying the Interlude?
Andy333

Well, they weren't living on the streets or anything. Many of these people got hired by friends or where given emergency investments from other companies and continued living in their millions dollar mansions and didn't really suffer that much for their incompetence. But on the other hand, a lot of these people lost a lot of power and influence from this.

I feel no sympathy for their lack of pain

Nothing actually hurt them or made their lives worse.

While many of the people will still be hired on as Ceo's and leaders of other companies, its going to be a long time working underneath other people and building favors up before they ever get to be as power and influential as they were before.

The interlude is very good. Its weird the narrator feels almost drunk in the way he describes things. It reminds me when i was a kid and I tried reading the bible because my granddad was real religious and he was trying to get me into it, and I remember stopping around the part where Noah was becoming an alcoholic and just the way your character talks reminds me of that.
