Yeah, one of my biggest complaints about Tom Holland's version of Spiderman, is that Peter Parker in the comic's was a bit of an asshole in the beginning. It wasn't until his uncle died and he gained his martyr complex that he really decided to be a hero, and here in this case he's rich and has, while a very dysfunctional family, two parents that would literally kill for him.

As for Gwen she's the awkward skinny nerd, who wants to be popular and have friends. Which is normal, but what isn't is that her parents, who are both widely successful and powerful, are also both supermodel gorgeous and confident. Basically their everything Gwen wants to be and her arc will be dealing with her jealous and desire to be like them.
