I like with Merret Frey that the religion or magic doesn't actually make him a better person. he might me more at peace with himself and he might be a better husband and leader, but underneath all the finery and magic is a guy who's still aching from being mocked all his life. i like that he kept his vindictive streak even if he swore he was above it now.
