Bad to whom and what and why? How does the morality bend? And if you did street fighter or a street fighter based thing like an AU. How does Chi and Ki and whatever as a common resource for fighters alter warfare?

Well if chi can be learned and used though special exercises and breathing like is commonly presented in different Xianxia media, then I think society would be a lot more warlike and a lot more martial. Giving people the ability to gain literal superpowers and supernatural abilities just by doing enough push ups is a strong motivator for anyone.

That power alone is going to make an entire warrior caste system that rules likes kings or nobles. With the big limiting factor being that anyone can gain power if given enough motivation and maybe a few cheats with mystique items or alchemic recipes. it'll kind of create a society like Sparta where you have the warriors at top and a peasant poll beneath them.

Except shockingly a lot more egalitarian, for the peasants and woman because like I said technically anyone could get power with the right training. I wouldn't be surprised if that inspires a public school system earlier, kind of like the one you see in Naruto, where different states fund these schools in the hopes of poaching and training any new bloodlines or potential talents.

Use the emotion thing. Like say different colors of Ki. Bloodlust vs will power or discipline or depravity. What desires fuel this energy and what do social conditions do? Someone with a rich family? Easy to build a ego with pride and convictions to help the rising of Ki while ya poor and feel awful about yourself? Negative Ki, and not negative in the inner dark power way

I'd cap Ki powers as superhuman but never dragon ball planet busting. The highest could wreck multiple city blocks. Trash a urban area.

If chi is effected by emotions that much I wouldn't be surprised if different material schools appeared embracing various different philosophies and expressions that would compete with each other for funding and for students from various nations.

Ki is spiritual willpower effecting the material world. The foundation of that willpower can reflect a lot about a country or individual. There could be social consequences for being a soldiers or public official with the wrong Ki.

Lol, now I have an image of a buff Diogenes and a equally buff Socrates arguing over what is a man in a stadium in one of those stereotypical anime tournament arcs. but that wouldn't be far from the truth, I wouldn't be surprised if these different schools of martial arts had big tournaments where they would show off and try to curry favor with various nations and diplomats.

I also wouldn't be surprised if sects that embraced more negative or carnal chi powers would get out right banned or hunted into extinction because of the threat they carry and like you said being accused of being apart of these sects or having a negative chi could be considered a dangerous accusation that carried the potential of banishment or death.

And in this you have brainwashing Ki or whatever you call this arts that are very illegal but has led to a long history of corrupted Ki sex slave fighters and assassins and killer trophy wives that feeds the criminal underworld. Could make it that organized crime typed tend to be very incestuous

Although being apart of these bad sect would get you killed, banished, or shunned, I think an even bigger insult would be calling someone weak. think about it, an entire warrior caste system with a super power system to back up their ideology, they would get really toxic really fast about the idea of saving face and being the strongest person in the room.

Porn might be illegal or highly regulated because of how dangerous Lust and submission and dominance are as Ki fuel

I could see fathers completely disowning their sons for no being strong enough or the heir to the throne being decided by literal death matches. It would make families of the nobles and clans dysfunctional to say the very least.

Difference in strength. Is strength beating up everyone or earning max respect? Are there Ki warriors empowered by positive emotions and feelings of heroism? Are there ones powered by sadism and malice?

My idea with it is that its like an exercise to an extent. the more you use chi the better you get at using it, but at the same time its fueled by strong emotions. now those emotions could be anything, anger, love, determination, pride, happiness.

The big thing though is a man fighting to protect his family will temporary get a huge boost in power from the loves he has for them, while a guy just fighting for money will be weaker because he doesn't have any motivation to die for the job.

So a physical aspect and a spiritual one. People building Ki by connecting type of action, stances and fighting styles, to spiritual, emotions and wills.

So a big part about these different sects is finding ways to harness these powerful emotions and try to control them, since if you get too sad, angry, whatever you lose control and all that new found power is wasted.
