Question. Do we want to show off more non bender warriors like Mai? And with Zuko, how is he like Ozai in personality and political action? And how is he like his father in his fetishes?

With Ursa, I see you can play on how Azula and Zuko see her as mom and not as a imperial fire nation lady who while with a stronger moral center than Ozai, is still a ruthless fierce woman of the fire nation out to shape up her daughter and son into conquerors.

With Azula, how do you want to portray her? It is interesting how the show used her as with the beach episode, we see her at her most happy and know she loves Zuko and her mommy issues are well documented. Azula clearly is capable of and wants love and affection but her ability to process these emotions are fucked by her need to be the Fire princess at all times

Just got back from the movies. Saw Saints and Sinner's with Liam Neson. It was about a retired assassin in Ireland getting drawn into the IRA. Was a lot more melancholic and slow burn than I thought it would be. A little slow and sappy at times, but there was actually some thought provoking stuff in there.

What sorta themes did it play with?

Anyway, straight to buisness. Lol. With Azula, what I'm thinking is that she wants friends, she wants a family, and she does love Zuko, she just doesn't know to experess it. Like for example, she'll mess with Katara's political ambitious, but to Azula its not disrespectful or out of any malicious, its to teach Katara how to play courtly politic's.

A great example. Katara wants to build a hospital and is raising funds to do it, and is really excited when a bunch of nobles start donating to her. Untill Azula explains that there donating so much money expecting a postion in that new hospital or in the fire kings court for a family member or friend as payment.

Katara refuses to do that because to her nepotism is wrong, and the hospital plans get delayed, only for Azula to open up a soup kitchen in record time right next door. Again Azula isn't trying to mean about it, she's trying to teach Katara some of the games you have to play to get ahead even if it does come of as condensating and bitchy. lol

Oh and the movie really played with the idea that killing, you can can dress it up with different causes like vengence or brotherhood, but really it just hurts you in the end wither you live or die. Your best plan is always to walk away from it.

Lol, yep that sums Azula. Everything is a compation with winners and losers, even family or intimate relationships. One of her favrite things to tease Katara about is that she's a wild savage and Azula is a refined princess. And some of their roleplay sessions are all about the two siblings conquering the meek southern water tribe girl.

Its a show inspired by classic Kung Fu movies, of course I'm going to give non benders powers too. I don't know why the show didn't. probably didn't have enough time. But on to Mai, her big thing is that she's going to be in the back ground, kind of quiet, kind of forgoteen about, and then suddenly you get her perspective as she assianted a room full of people and you really see what she's capable of.

But with Mai's personal life and goals, she's not really into power for power sake like katara and Azula are, and she doesn't have control issues Like ursa, but unlike Jin who's content to be passive, Mai wants to protect her family and that's basically her entire character. A silent guardian of the family, that under ideal circumstance no one will ever know about.

That also ties into her own personal arc, where unlike the rest of the harem she has a lot of trouble getting pregnant and only has one or two children with Zuko and basically over time becomes comfortable with being the cool aunt all of his other children turn too when their tired of dealing with the crazyness of the family.
