Questionable Questing

Hey, sorry I couldn't get to you earlier. I had to fill out some paper work for the job thing tommorow and then I went out for some dinner.

But my days been pretty decent so far. Just been chilling was reading some Rawly Rawls comics earlier. How have you been?

Not bad. Went through two books in two days because the writing style wasn't strong enough and the magic was. Oh God. Sight glass, Shackle glass, fucking all these different glasses for stat boosts
The other? Drake blood but each color does one thing. One for physical enhancement, one for TK, one for fire. And no sauce to any of it. No wonder

How was dinner and paperwork?

Paperwork was pretty annoying. I applied on indeed but I'm guessing they haven't automated a lot of their systems yet, so I had to fill out a bunch of information I already submitted so its all on paper for HR. But Dinner was alright. I had Wendy's and was pleasantly suprised at how much cheaper it was in Arizona versus California.

I have tried Wendy's burgers and like Mcdonald and burger King can't have them anymore. They all taste terrible. And want to hear me complain about magic systems in fantasy being trite?

This book starts with a list of different magical Godglass. What does Godglass do? It depending on glass augments one thing. So you have sight glass, with glass for mega calculations, Forge glass for strength and speed, Shackle glass for obidence. There's hammer glass that is really hard and razor glass that is very sharp. And its just so fucking dull. Its called Godglass, and all it does is stat boosts

Glass dancers can control every type of normal glass except Godglass and are Magento with glass. Which is cool, but the rest of it is so fucking dull

And the Drake blood for the other book is same thing. People harvest dragon blood to ingest it for brief superpowers. There's no magic to any of this

So is their atleast some kind of intresting method to making godglass? Cause working with glass in a forge unlike metal, is that since it cools so fast you don't have as much time shaping it and is why molds are so heavily used. Plus glass with its get hot is very stick and can be stringy at times. Did the book do any of that with it?

And with the drake blood, is there different types of drakes that provide different benefits with the speices and envoirment of the drake effecting the effects its blood will have?

There are different colors and they each do one thing per color. With nothing else to it. And I couldn't tell you. Both books I got like 50 or less pages in and said fuck it. Your writing voice is generic, your magic is non magic, and your not grabbing me

I asked a best friend from my server to come up with cooler dragon blood magic. They did this

The different bloods come from entities of different characters
Blood goes from simple propellant to a tool in a rising spiritual movement, with people using it to perform miraculous acts

Look at it. That is cool

That's really cool. You could have entire cermaonies over dragons. Have warriors that are about to fight in a major battle phsycially bath in the blood of a dragon by cutting open its stomach and chest. Have coming of age rituals where a boy helps out on his first drake hunt and gets to taste the blood first. Maybe a king has to prove himself by fighting one by himself without a vast hunting party supporting him.

Compare to I drink dragon blood for limited boring superpowers.

I don't get it. Being imaginative is not that hard. hasn't the auther every played a video game? Just making different colored drakes that correlate to a different elemental power would've made things more interesting.

No. You get Black Drake TK, green, strength and speed, Blue has this trance that is kinda cool mixing dreams and memories to contact another Blue blood user for telepathy, and red for fire. But more than that, there's no sensation to any of it. No greater style. Lore wise or in how the powers are described.
