His determination obviously. I like that he's a bit of a smart ass and he's also a bit of meat head. Much more eager to be punching people rather than reading books. I also like how he can be pretty cleaver in taking advantage of someone's emotions or arrogance in a fight or a conversation. He's a lot smarter in that area then people give him credit for, himself included.

I guess a better way to describe him is that he's a very good commander, in earning the loyalty of his men, leading them into battle, and coming up with quick decisive plans, but he's not as great at being a general. In coming up with long term complicated plans or planing the political fallout.

But one of Annabeth's big flaws is her arrogance and trouble understanding or connecting with people, something that Percy is great at. Which is why in a fight between the two he would win on an intellectual level and not just a power one. Ceaser was actually not a very good general.

He frequently got bogged down in campaigns and while he fought individual battles very well, he had trouble translating that into long term success. Yet Ceaser became emperor and many other generals of that day, many of whom where better than Ceaser, didn't. And again that comes down to the whole charisma thing Annabeth just doesn't have.

Nico can be the spy obviously with his powers. But I think him being in charge of magic and research is also pretty logical since out of all the kids of the big three he's the most interested in it. Plus Annabeth is too logical sometimes for magic.
