Questionable Questing

Ren and Nora learning to trust and love Jaune, transfers over to learning how to trust an entire kingdom and by extension helping Jaune lead it by becoming his advisers. And with semblances I'll definitely reuse a lot of the old idea's but I'm going to change Jaune's semblance to something else, since half the fun of this fic is seeing the miscommunications and confusion at King Jaune prancing around.

How would you have Semblances in general for RWBY AU? I call Aura the diet Ki chakra Nen piss poor version of anime power energy.

Semblance is an extension of the soul right? Where are my flaming swords caused by someone's rage being transferred into it? Where is the ability to communicate emotions and thoughts just by touching someones arm and opening your soul to them? Where is the ability to change your body by wishing hard enough for it to happen?

Flaming rage swords is my jam and I am sensing a pattern. Go on. Can aura make fireballs directly or no?

I want aura to be more than just a big shield. I want it to not just be about power, like can you imagine the impact on the world if tomorrow morning someone found proof that the soul is a real and physical thing we can touch? How would religious groups or government respond to that?

RWBY never knows cause shit worldbuilding. I do like the idea I mentioned ages ago of positive and negative Aura. Of light and darkness in Aura

And speaking of groups, were's my secret society of warrior monks that try to reach enlightenment by learning to manipulate their aura's? Forming entire martial arts around it. Like lengthening your sword with your will, embowering your punches to go through anything, grabbing on to surfaces and walking up vertical walls.

Aura is the soul and the soul is who you are, it is a combination of your emotions, memories, and your physical body. Do you need all three of those things to make an aura? Can you transfer your aura into an object? Could you store memories and messages into that object? Could you have special weapons built for certain lineages with generations of knowledge passed down?

So many fun idea's and implications if aura really is a persons soul.

Elemental aura types with certain emotions and personalities? How would Jaune's kingly Aura manifest and what I am hearing is Semblance isn't so much a power as a set of Aura infusions someone has

With Jaune his semblance I'm currently debating between two types. Type one is where if someone swears themselves to him or kneels then Jaune can freely share power between them. So his allies can share semblances, knowledge, basically the closer the bond and more they submit to him the more control he has and the more powers he can share with them.

The second type is that Jaune can sense an objects history and slowly over time learn from it. For example an old blade that was owned by a guardsmen, Jaune can hold that blade and learn several generations of fighting and defending from all the guard men's who owned it. And this can be not just weapons, but paintings, furniture, even sometimes people. By fighting someone he can learn that person's history.

The two idea's each tie in with his arc, the first one obviously being his slow evolution into a king with more and more people serving underneath him boosting his powers. While the second one ties in with how him and Salem both don't really belong in the modern era, with Jaune using his semblance to uncover the past and at the same time uncover Salem's backstory and eventually try to fix it.

I'm feeling that can go with the other one. As I am seeing Semblance here not as one power but as a series of Infusions of Aura.

I mean I do like the idea of each person's semblance is unique to them and ties in with their own personal struggles. Yang has trouble letting go of relationships that hurt her, so her power causes anyone who hurt her to hurt themselves. Blake thinks she's a coward so she's gets the power to hide. Ren has trouble expressing himself, gets a power to control his emotions. Ectera, ectera.

But at the same time I kind of hate how semblance's seem very one and done. You get your power that you can only use a certain way and that's it. Some people get lucky and get something stupidly powerful, some people just get hit with the short stick and have to deal with it. That seem's shitty to me that what makes a person unique is reduced down to a power leveling game.

My idea is that semblances are unique, but the techniques to learn how to control and wield them are usable by everyone to kind of separate power leveling from it, and that semblances grow and evolve to match someone's person growth as well. A lot can change for a person in ten years and I want the powers to reflect that.

Aura Infusions. With Semblance being a series of different Aura infusions that a person can channel from themselves. Let people modify and grow their powers

The issue with Ren and Ironwood's Semblances is they are boring. On the scale of cool anime powers they have basic weak ass shit

Like I said short of end of the stick. Ironwood get magic autism and Ren get depression. It's boring. Now if Ironwood's powers increased his intelligence and enabled him to make hundreds of calculations in a second, thus allowing him to do something ridiculous like field an army of artillery and know exactly where they need to fire to hit an enemy that's moving so fast they can't see.
