I'm thinking, he'll seem at first like an older brother to Jaune, loving but sarcastic, pushy and and little mean at the same time, but as time goes by I'll show little things like Mercury looking over at Jaune for just a little too long or wanting to hold his hand. Show that he clearly has feelings he just doesn't know how to say it or even admit it to himself.

Make it so he struggles with feelings of bisexual femboyism but also he is Jaune's older twink assassin brother and will fuck people up who mess with him. And have him and Emarald have hot and heavy tension and banter

Merc needs a Semblance revamp.

Yeah, semblance is the soul. Having his dad steal his is bullshit to me. Now his dad having a copy of it that he is more skilled at using, and Mercury having a character arc then ends with him over coming his dad because he slowly realizes as good as his dad is he doesn't fully understand the semblance, or in other words he doesn't really know me, would be much better thematically.

Semblances in general as I have said are shit and need more omph to them.

Now overcoming barriers, I could be okay with. It's just like a lot of other things with Rwby, you just need to be a little more creative with it. What kind of barriers? Walls and aura of course. But what about weapons? What about knowing the exact amount of force and weak points to break armor and weapons? What about knowing the right things to say to start a conversation, break someone heart, or get them mad?

Barriers have a ton of different definitions.

What's your rule for how Semblances are designed here as a unique expression of Aura power? Can someone make a elemental laser or energy bomb Semblance or is it all linked to the body?

The further its away from your body the harder it is to control unless you have something to help channel it through like dust or a weapon of some kind. So yes elemental lasers and psychic punches several feet away totally doable with a little training, several hundred feet away though is practically impossible unless under special circumstances.

Keeps fights close range.

And incentives the use of guns for more than flashy moments that do absolutely nothing. Keeps them useful while having a higher power level system.

So, what does Mercery dress like and how does Jaune's adopted siblings slash future harem interact with his Beacon friends?

Mercury isn't big on fashion, so skinny jeans, t-shirts, with only the tiniest bit of make up or jewelry to hint as something more. As for the interactions, i could go list by list, but the short and sweet answer is awkward tension. Basically they want Jaune to visit Beacon and interact with the outside world, they know its important and that's what he wants.

But also, they all have unresolved issue outside their Salem's castle that they also want to resolve. But their scared of losing Jaune to the new people. Of being exposed. Of not fitting in. Basically its bringing out all their insecurities despite how important they know it is.

While they all have to act in public as a family which they love but also do all this shady dark shit for Salem and hopefully future king Jaune and hope he still loves them. Yang and Mercury bonding over being over protective siblings? Possible romance?

Yang's a pretty fun one. Bad ass tease on the surface, softy insecure virgin on the inside. Would match pretty well with Mercury who's hiding someone soft underneath the loner badass he pretends to be.

Femboy assassin and amazon brawler boyfriend and girlfriend later bonding over being sister wives in Jaune's harem.

Surprisingly I think Salem and Ruby would get a long pretty well. Salem getting interested because of the whole silver eye thing and the drama with her mom, only to slowly fall in love with the adorable cinnamon roll and Ruby would have a mom to baby her who also isn't afraid of disciplining her or treating her like an adult.

There's a lot of positive back and forth. Where does Phyrra fit in and is she going to get into a fight with Cinder and Emarld over Jaune?
