They need far more violence and savagery added to their sexy. More if your going to have them for paranomral romance, make them scary and dark

Need to be seen as natural predators and monsters in the dark like how they used to be. The whole sexy vampire things is pretty modern after all.

Go primal and vicious. I'd also say vampires and werewolves should be the same thing.

Just give vampires werewolf form. Make it their greater beast war form.

I actually kind of like Twilight's approach to it, some of the world building in that series could make some very good horror in another writer's hands, where werewolves are alive and breathing and from dynasty's and clans of people who inherited this power. As a kind of natural contrast to the undead Vampires.

With some humans holding the potential to become werewolves by sharing their blood and in a scared ritual marrying into the clan. Again kind of similar yet fundamentally different from how vampires work.

Old legend has vampires and werewolves be the same so I say smash them together

You know another question I have is how often do they need to drink blood? And is it live human blood specifically? For example could they live off of animal blood? Or learn how to control it enough not to kill the person their feeding from? Or drink from donated vials of blood? Or is a more nebulous life force they drain? One of the most important classifications we have for wild predators is how they eat.

And depending on how and what vampires feed upon is going to drastically change their behavior and attitudes towards humans.

That is the question. Do vampires need to kill to feed or not always affects how evil they are or any side effects from feeding

How human are vampires if they have to eat humans to survive, has been a a stable of that genre for hundreds of years at this point.
