She can control and manipulate these hard light constructs made of plasma, with her special ability being to cover herself entirely in it, sacrificing her ability to hear or see for a shield bubble comparable to Vicky's shield. Kind of tying in that her trigger event was being dumped inside a trunk in the dark about to be shot.

So with the suit, she'll evolve more fine control. The shapes getting more complicated and imaginative, kind of like a green lantern now that I think about it. And her shield will be able to be shared with multiple people and less debilitating.

It's a little mixed in canon if it burns or not, but my interpretation is that she can adjust the intensity of the plasma to go from a light sunburn all the way to cutting through metal or concrete.
