Questionable Questing

Nope. lol. My sisters were more into it than I ever was, and everything I know has been osmosis from them and watching a couple of the movies during Military school.

Grandfather killed now she's brought to bimbo assassin town?

I think your best bet is to come up with a new character entirely at this point to be honest. It's already practically a brand new setting anyway.

My thoughts exactly. Grandpaw killed so our Heroine who's mom left the Clans has her daughter brought in

So in-between dealing with discovering this brand new world, and slowly finding out that her entire life her overbearing mother that's been pushing her in various sports and clubs has been secretly grooming her for this role.
Andy333
Andy333
She is also dealing with the political fallout over the death of her grandfather and that various factions are approaching her and trying to influence her to their side as she's being seen as the heir apparent to one of the previously most powerful Reinfields.

How bout mom was training her to fight if they came for her or going evil porn bimbo grooming mom here?
Andy333
Andy333
I was thinking a mix of both. the mom means well and wants her daughter to be happy and independent, but she was raised a certain way and can't help but do the same with her daughter.

Giving her daughter cool supernatural powers and our Edward. Looks like a young man but he is very old and do the Hellsing thing of Vampire being in truth masses of blood with different powers invested in their shifting forms
Andy333
Andy333
I kind of like the concept from Vampire the Masquerade where vampires become more and more inhuman looking the older and stronger they get, maybe combine the two idea's as the more blood they consume the harder it is to look normal.

A human mask over the true mega monster fucker form of our Edward

And the more stressed he is, the more power he draws from, and the harder he's pushed in a battle, the more his skin and flesh starts to look more and more like a paper cover to the beast inside. A cover that is ripping apart trying barely to contain it.

Oh speaking of the school, do you want to keep it in Washington like in the books or do you want to go somewhere else? A surprisingly fun book is Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter and the idea of vampires intermingling and being tied to the Antebellum south is a really fun one. Plus the haunted abandoned manor in the Louisiana swamp is one of my favorite horror movie settings.

Please no confederate vampires. That is incredibly painful to write protaga for. Now swamp is cool and I like.

Confederacy vampires make you answer very uncomfortable delicate real world moral questions. Like vampire nazis. Unless complete bad guys don't use

I was thinking more that Edward is from a Northern family but has a lot of ties down south and has to handle the politics and legacy of that. Since while the slave owning and openly supremacist Vampires being soundly defeated by the more nuanced and masquerade heavy vampires, there's still a lot of blood, no pun intended, and sore losers left over.
Andy333
Andy333
But Nazi vampires could be fun too. lol. But truthfully I was actually imagining some of the slaver Vampires relocated to South Africa after they lost the war and established themselves an enclave up there, then after some time using a series of puppet dictators and playing both sides of the eventual cold war to eventually build up their own nation, their own private little hunting ground.

I like private hunting ground and pet farm. I have a rule of do not involve urban fantasy like vampires with topics like American slavery because then you have to interact with true horror on history. It leaves a bad taste if you fuck it up
Andy333
Andy333
My general rule of thumb when including fantasy creatures working with or being involved with the darker parts of history, is that while the vampire, Werewolves, and ghouls are committing atrocities of their own and potentially even contributing to these causes, they are never the ones to actually start it or control it. Humans did. Normal humans with zero impact from the magical side.
