Questionable Questing

The dragon cares for law and the management of the realm. Grand dreams of empire, armies to discipline and servants to direct. Dragon isn't without flaws. While the Wolf has rage, the Dragon has pride and demands the best. Even if it might mean fucking someone else over.

Could also go with the fact that a prideful person can't take jokes very well. See it as an insult or a loss of face and escalates minor disagreements or slights into full blown feuds and battles because the dragon refuses to back down.

Interesting in contrast to the Wolf which I have pinned as a ticking time bomb for vengeance. You remember the Hour of the Wolf from Westros history? And adding to the rivarly between Starks and Boltons? The Wolf god is bloodthirsty when it comes to personal harm.

Have this one advise Hurik to laugh off a slight but if Kelesy or Ygrite are deeply harmed then tell Tywin to hold Hurik's beer as he outdoes a Rains of Castamere.
So many corpses. So much blood dripping down down

I was having in mind your thoughts of having Hurik be a fantasy hero as it fit his character and would be nice. Then they fucking pick the Warlock. The evil pact magic class.

it's a nice bit of contrast too. In the short term the Dragon makes a lot of enemies. He's proud, prickly, and irritable. Just not a fun person to be around, but the dragon has the long term vision, the strategy, and if push comes to shove the ability to push through and ignore his own emotions and weakness to achieve his goals.

While the wolf is in the short term the better option. He's funny, dependable, and honest. But if his family is in danger he lack the ability to think it through like dragon would. He would run face first into danger and damn the consequences. Much like Brandon did when he challenged the Prince to a duel once he found out he took Lyanna, uncaring of the King's issues.

But as for Warlock, is it pure evil or does it just draw out the worst impulses in someone and push them to be evil? Because if it's the second one, there's no greater villain in any story than the MC's own personal doubts and faults. Any good villain is usually just a reflection or extension of these emotions.

I'll share these thoughts with Jackal. Players will have to balance these forces and as they picked Warlock. While not every invocation will take a price, big story important critical spell power use will. I am shocked these guys picked Warlock. I really am. They were being set up for druid or ranger

Warlock in Frozen Dreams is Merret. You saw him. He is a agent of his Patron. Through the great power channeled and grown in him, the will of his patron works with his ambitions and desires. In Hurik's case the Wolf and Dragon are his spiritual banners.

His vassals, except they can call on their liege to do things for them to keep the contract going. It is a two way streak. As one does, so must the other for what is given. A Warlock isn't good or bad. They are bound to a greater mystical power and work in partnership with their patron. But that also means they have to do things often for their patron. A lot often. Merret's life revolves around his Patron.

Yeah that's the funny thing about players in any quest. I can usually predict what they'll do like eighty percent of the time, but that twenty percent is always the exact opposite of what I thought they'll do and always screws up a plan I had. lol
Andy333
Andy333
Which is a good thing. It's why I do quests, so I'm not bound to a predetermined path. But for the warlock, I would make it to where the more power hurrik calls upon the more favors he has to say. Make it a mechanic where the players can boost dice rolls by a couple of points, but in return for doing that you give the quests or objectives that are a pain in the ass to payback.

Basically, give the audience a little control and it'll hit them that much harder about the limitations and costs of being a Warlock than a thousand words detailing it.

We are going to do that. And they will get to have fun with the Quests. Rewards for doing them. Monster hunting, seducing maidens, corruption other noble lads into pretty slut boys. All good fun. We did kinda like a Warlock in the early parts of Frozen Dreams with lewd tasks giving them spells from the Epic Players Handbook but that didn't grab them and over time we dropped it.

Now we are doing serious fantasy warlock with the smut

Just make sure to punish them if they don't complete enough of these quests. Don't need to kill anyone or anything but make sure to screw them a couple times so they understand.

Oh they don't get to not do them. They are obligated. It is physically impossible for them not to do it. They can negotiate with the Patrons about how to complete them and what they have to do but they are a Warlock soul bound to their Patrons. The burning sensation of their magic will make them do it. Now not getting hurt doing so or causing a war is another issue

Can't wait to see what devious missions you'll force them to complete. :V
