No see that's the most terrifying part about Lyanna. She wouldn't support Democracy or new technology because she sees it's good or that'll improve people's lives. She'll support it because it'll weaken the smaller nobles and knights, by forcing them to compete with newly empowered Small Folk.

By creating a parliament she'll force all disagreements to work their way through it and by extension her, instead of in the shadows. What I'm saying is that she'll subvert the system and use it for her own ends while on the surface looking like a kind, dutiful, reforming queen to everyone else. Which neatly ties in with Jon Arryan.

The reason he looks and sounds like such an ass despite his very real and very understandable concerns is that his hatred of the hentai corruption isn't about wanting to help people, but his own fears about losing control or relevance. But unlike Lyanna, he doesn't have a nice pair of tits and a harem of women and men to distract the readers from this more unpleasant character trait.

It was a very good idea you started with a female Protagonist for this story, because even though it sounds a little sexist it's very true that people are much more willing to forgive evil acts or monstrous acts if their done by a female MC. That's the specific reason Miss Robin was made a female.

Hurik's darker side is definitely a lot less subtle I will say that.
