But character, a lot of my issue with Boruto ties in with how Naruto's relationship with his kids is handled. I mean the idea that he's working himself to death and neglecting his family trying to maintain peace in the Ninja world is totally believable. But they don't set it up properly. They keep going on and on about these problems Naruto's dealing with, but all they ever show is him doing paperwork.

It's a classic case of tell, not show. We need to see the politics he's dealing with. We need to see the stakes and problems peace has brought. Have some political intrigue. Have the ninja's complaining about how their mercenary economy is collapsing. Have the clans getting uppity since their losing influence and power. I don't know. Make it more dynamic than paperwork.

Don't be afraid to show off how badass Naruto or Sauske is. I know they are an instant I win for any big bad and that's a problem. lol. But if you keep the stakes low enough for a new genin like Boruto, at least in the beginning, then you get to see them both be badass.

And in this, Boruto needs a motivation better than I don't want to be hokage. Sarda wanting to be Hokage and a big adherent of Naruto I love

Boruto should honestly hate the idea of being Hokage, with like you said Sarda being the one to go for it. Fits the generational trauma the story has and Boruto's character of feuding with his dad since he prioritized work over his kids.

But what is his grand ambition than, becoming clan leader after his grandfather?

If I was in charge of Boruto, probably start a family or find a way out of being a ninja. But with the story we have set up, I don't know to be honest.

I think having a lack of ambition could be fun, contrast it with Naruto who knew what he wanted when he was five years old and screamed at the world until they finally caved in. With Boruto who's not happy and doesn't know how to fix it or a goal he can distract himself with.

Been busy. My aunt wanted to go this special diner this morning which was super crowded, then check out Ross for clothes, then do some grocery shopping.
