I was thinking Whitely has some serious control issues, while Jaques has issues with commitment. Both are pretty unhealthy and need to go through some character arc to kind of get through it, but Whitely's more apparent since he's more demanding and jealous about it. He wants all his girls to constantly talk about how much they love him, while if Jaques had a girl tell him that he would freak out and start running.

That's what I'm thinking Jaques just wants to party and try to run away from his broken family and just how painfully lonely he is.
