But with the political commentary, I think the author wanted too but was held back by the stupid amounts of success and was either getting reeled in by his publishers or he felt pressured to make something that rocked the boat less. All I know is that anytime he did an interview it looked like he was seconds away from running, since he hated the attention so much. So somewhere in the middle probably.
