First chapter, iI'm going to have a prolog first of the cultist summoning Charlie. Her going full Doom Slayer when she notices the child sacrifices they have planned to bribe her. Then a small somber moment as she realize how far away from home she really is and looks out into 1600's or 1500's London.

Then we get a hard cut to a journalist working for a sensationalist magazine that's looking to go more legitment and hired him to look into Miss Moringstar's, the infamous owner of the Hazbin Company, recent investment into the Niger delta. With him accidentally falling face first infront of her and getting a ride along as an apology.

Well I say accidentally, but spoilers. The camara's they used in 1850, when the Journalist section takes place, used these special silver panels to make the image. They are called a Daguerrotype. But silver does not react well around Charlie, and her bodyguard noticed this and made him trip before he could take the picture.

And as fun as it would be to make him related to charlie, doesn't fit with where I'm taking the story. More spoilers. lol. But the he's the disgraced scion of some British royalty, who had a bit of a crisis of faith when he saw some of the atrocities his family where involved in and why he took on a new job and identify.

No Charlie, helps him because she's nice and because she did break his very expensive camara. But also because she was fishing for information a little bit, trying to figure out if he represents any groups or anything she should be worried about.

Because the reasons she's expanding into the Niger delta is because Britian and France are having a bit of proxy war using various African tribes over who gets to control West Africa, and more specifically the profitable Dimond mines of Nigeria, and Charlie's here trying to organize a ceasefire.

Because even though she was trying to help, Charlie accidentally makes it worse. Since it causes all the local shamans to freak the fuck out when they sense her approaching, and one group gets desperate enough they try to summon a demon by sacrificing a bunch of people which they send after to try and kill Charlie.

She defeats it of course, but in the process she reveals her powers to the Journalist as well as many of the local tribes and neutral Shamans causing all of them to join her side immediately. Effectively driving away the French and all of their sponsored tribes, as well as ensuring British dominance in the region. Like I said earlier about Charlie wanting to help, but inadvertently causing other issues.

By the way, if the shamans are summoning a demon, this ain't replacing local faith occult traditions with biblical right? If your doing alt history expect much research my friend

Plus it's a nice blend of real world history, magic, and some alternate history stuff. Since Britain did have a colony in Nigeria, but Charlie's active involvement here sped up the timeline of it from the real world 1861 to now the early 1840's.

And a lot of the smaller local faiths and occults, believe in demons. Although their less an organized hierarchy and eternal war like in more Christian traditions and more evil or malevolent spirits that appear if you don't follow certain traditions or you deliberately disturb them. I'll make sure to look up some local beliefs from the Temne people to make sure though.

Although there was a lot of Portuguese missionaries in the region at the time as well, so its not entirely out of the question they decided to go with a Christian Demon to kill Charlie since they figured their from the same parthenon so it has to work.
