Questionable Questing

I guess I'm just frustrated by the stories where the protagonist doesn't care about amassing wealth, building a harem, dominating people, starting a revolution, helping fellows, etc. and just... 'seeks immortality' like some bystander. It's so... so... idk, lame.

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa so annoyingggg

It's because they are delaying living their lives until finally they have "infinite time". That way they can always have that "perfect" moment for whatever project, or thing they plan to work on, or do, etc.

It's like a perfectionism wet dream. And shitty nightmare all at once.

Because think about it. Imagine you're a writing struggling with procrastination. You now have infinite time. Yepiii. But now when you finally get around to writing that story, it's been centuries, all those interested are long dead, and anyone you originally bonded with on your idea is gone. What a fucking prize.

I think of it like a boy who has a choice between having the perfect love when he's in middle school, but he instead chooses to ignore her because he wants to "improve himself" and "love himself", so he's working hard to get into the best college, spends the next thirty or so years working as an executive and then starting his own business to be a billionaire--

--and now he's in his mid-fifties, the girl he liked already has grandkids, and he's thinking, now I'm ready to get that perfect love because I have everything else, but no matter who he finds, he gets looked at as a "sugar daddy" type of relationship, and he realizes that kind of pure love can't happen to someone as worldly as him

When they achieve immortality and ultimate power, they stop the constant training and meditation. From that moment forward, it's all jazz and berries. Respect the game.

But you know, with these protagonists, they have their little cheat, but they don't let themselves be touched by "worldly matters" such as love,

one reason I can see is because the writers are losers who don't even have many friends, let alone relationship experience, so they can't write it

but some are just writers who are too lazy to think up the plot, and it's so annoyinggg

and at that point, I'm like, to these guys, immortality and power might as well have turned them into rocks, or like dinosaur fossils, you're practically carbonized eternally, but you can't do anything. It's been like a million years since they even talked to another person, do they even remember how to enjoy the eternal life they worked so hard to earn?

Another reason is the commercial aspect. Who is the audience for those stories? Young boys, teens, young adults. People that would want action and cool hype moments.

Things like love, loss and all that are too real. Can't afford to linger on it, even when it comes up in story lest they lose that audience.

But... they probably end up seeing those issues as too distracting for whatever plot they came up with.
