The regular administrative staff are taking a vacation, and in the meantime, Biigoh is taking over. See here for more information.
A notice about Rule 3 regarding sites hosting pirated/unauthorized content has been made. Please see here for details.
Staff is working to deal with the problem of synonymous tags. See here for more information and to suggest tag mergers.
Due to issues with external spam filters, QQ is currently unable to send any mail to Microsoft E-mail addresses. This includes any account at live.com, hotmail.com or msn.com.
Signing up to the forum with one of these addresses will result in your verification E-mail never arriving. For best results, please use a different E-mail provider for your QQ address.
For prospective new members, a word of warning: don't use common names like Dennis, Simon, or Kenny if you decide to create an account. Spammers have used them all before you and gotten those names flagged in the anti-spam databases. Your account registration will be rejected because of it.
Since it has happened MULTIPLE times now, I want to be very clear about this. You do not get to abandon an account and create a new one. You do not get to pass an account to someone else and create a new one. If you do so anyway, you will be banned for creating sockpuppets.
Due to the actions of particularly persistent spammers and trolls, we will be banning disposable email addresses from today onward.
...this discussion, but it doesn't really matter that they're having it here, in a place with a more narrowly focused OP.
If anyone is fed up with the discussion, because it isn't going to affect moderation, or they’ve seen all the talking points before, they can just not read the thread. *shrugs*
People are understandably passionate about this topic, but bring the heat down a tad.
I don't think anyone has crossed the Rule 1 line yet, but a few posts are making me look twice, so let’s work to prevent any further degeneration.
Trying to witch hunt AI in a story thread is already against the rules - specifically Rule 1 - and we Warn posts that do so. If they do it enough times, we'll move to escalating punishments.
Though, there is a difference between asking if something is AI/politely asking the author to add such a...
You can modify your alert settings in your preferences, near the bottom. I don’t think we have a ‘only threadmarks’ option, unfortunately, but you can reduce it to only OP posts.
You're not going to be happy about this answer either, but unfortunately not. See previous discussion:
The idea being, while yes, 'yuri' and 'lesbian' both involve same-sex relationships between females, they carry different connotations and tropes, and so can look distinctly different in the...
Update:
Aleth has a testbed spun up for this add-on, and I’m doing a bunch of experiments on it so they can fix any bugs before putting it on the main forum.
So another way of saying 'dense'. That seems like something people might want to exclude while still searching for 'lesbians', so will keep that separate, but link all the variations together. Edit: Actually, just gonna merge all the variations together.
Assuming a parent/child tag system is developed at some point, that would allow us to link specific tropes (or proportion indicators) with the related broader tag, in a way that allows searching/excluding narrowly or broadly. If we did have that, I'd be linking a lot more things. But we don't...
I moved the tags like 'pure smut' and 'just sex scenes' to the Synonyms of 'smut' rather than the merge groups, because they do convey useful information on second thought.
Was idly thinking about making them their own group, actually, so the tiers would be something like 'porn without plot'...
Unfortunately, I don’t have the answer to such a deep question.
Because they’re different tags, and not yet Synonyms. I’ll be making them Synonyms during this batch though, so excluding one will exclude all after I’ve done so.
I mean, it’s less that other staff didn’t think it was necessary (or at least cautiously beneficial), and more that it’s a lot of work. Like, a lot a lot of work. I’ve basically stopped looking at normal reports since I started.
What to do with tags has been discussed, somewhat lengthily...
In the hypothetical scenario that I’ve disappeared or moved on, the thread would still be here, yeah. Whether anyone else would have the time and inclination to take over, idk, but, if not, staff might recruit for this role specifically.
The feedback period is technically over, but I’m hopeful Aleth will have the hard-merge add-on ready by tomorrow, so I’m waiting till that’s done before starting.
'Adult themes' is used for one thread, and I got the impression the 'themes' was at least partially the sex scene it includes, though it being set in a song of ice and fire, it could have more general mature stuff too (which is why I put it with r-18 rather than explicit content).
Edit...
Been going over the thread so far (couldn't sleep…)- missed erotica variations! Also 'adult content'.
Will add 'adult' to the 'r-18' merger; merge
'erotic' into 'erotica'; put 'erotica', 'dark erotica', 'erotic fanfic', 'rational erotica', 'original erotica' and 'adult themes' into the 'smut'...
As the feedback period ends tomorrow, I did a once over of the list and made these changes:
Moved 'vaguely lewd' from the merge bundle to the Synonym bundle of 'plot before porn'.
Made a lot of the 'original characters' merge bundle its own 'abundant ocs' merge bundle, and made that a Synonym...
