• The site has now migrated to Xenforo 2. If you see any issues with the forum operation, please post them in the feedback thread.
  • Due to issues with external spam filters, QQ is currently unable to send any mail to Microsoft E-mail addresses. This includes any account at live.com, hotmail.com or msn.com. Signing up to the forum with one of these addresses will result in your verification E-mail never arriving. For best results, please use a different E-mail provider for your QQ address.
  • For prospective new members, a word of warning: don't use common names like Dennis, Simon, or Kenny if you decide to create an account. Spammers have used them all before you and gotten those names flagged in the anti-spam databases. Your account registration will be rejected because of it.
  • Since it has happened MULTIPLE times now, I want to be very clear about this. You do not get to abandon an account and create a new one. You do not get to pass an account to someone else and create a new one. If you do so anyway, you will be banned for creating sockpuppets.
  • Due to the actions of particularly persistent spammers and trolls, we will be banning disposable email addresses from today onward.
  • The rules regarding NSFW links have been updated. See here for details.

"Analysis of the story" is not a clear meaning there. None of the examples even hint at that. Seriously, please add that example.

And you should tell people that. This thread shows they did not know what was allowed.

You should probably spell that out in more detail. As it is it is rather unclear, and the posters here do give off the general impression that the only acceptable necroing is another update of the story. At least they never post "Burn the necro! I thought this was another update or an insightful...

The debate is over. The people who cannot be bothered to check alerts, and are not mature enough to deal with a necro without flipping out and posting shit, won. Those among us who thought the ability to discuss older stories was a good thing lost.

The alert tells you who updated. That usually tells you right away if it was a necro or an update.

And how does that annoy people? Why do you cater to the kind of posters who do not use their alerts, but not to the posters who write stories, and would like more feedback - even if it happens to be posted after 5 weeks instead of 4 weeks?

Why don't you ban any non-story posts right away, and refer people to PMs? I'd have thought questions about a story would be relevant anyway.

What exactly is wrong with necros? Seriously, what is wrong with posting in a thread about a story a month after the last post? If it's just a question about updates, then that specifically could be banned. But what exactly is bad about necros?

Rules of the site - Necromancy

If a post is garbage then the date it is posted will not change it. All you are doing is catering to people who get annoyed at being fooled into thinking there is an update. And those people can simply read their alerts.

I fully agree. Necros don't hurt anyone, but banning them means you'll discourage people from posting - a bad, bad thing on a forum.
