A Ronin's Quest [Love Hina]

[X] Remember back to your high school days, about your days in the art club and your mischievous fox of a kohai.

I'm waiting for the Kanako Urashima flags to pop up... Kanako is delicious...

Of course the Best would be getting Haru and the fox. But then goooo for the fox she is at least half a Tanuki with her behavior.

... But I like Mokoto. Why can't we go down Mokoto-Route?

[X] Think about the Samurai-ko that saved you. You... You want to be strong, like her.

Ah yes, This One knew It forgot an option in there.

Well, if we're doing write-ins now:
[JK] Think about getting something to eat. You... You're hungry.

This is now my vote.

[X] Think about the Samurai-ko that saved you. You... You want to be strong, like her.

After chickening out once again, a wish to be stronger seems to fit better.

Haruka or Motoko?

I must have them both:!/Kuno

[X] Recall your Aunt Haruka. You weren't really that close to her but whenever she and her friends were off doing something they left that little blonde hellion of theirs with you.

We already have some points with Motoko and it's not like the choice set the story in stone or anything.

What's this? A Love Hina Quest with the option of going after Motoko? Count me in!

[X] Think about the Samurai-ko that saved you. You... You want to be strong, like her.

Also, turn this into a more martial arts based story, remember how ridiculously competent at it Keitaro gets with only a year or so of effort put into it? Plus the discipline required would really help his studying, he's smart but WAY too easily distracted and doesn't the work put in that he needs to to get into todai, instead just drifitng off into daydreams most of the time.

Also, probably the only thing for him to remember about Kitsune would be her swindling him out of money and maybe playing around with his feelings.

Holy crap, I hadn't thought of that. Yeah, I'm changing my vote to Motoko.

[X] Haruka...

You tired, very tired. No sleep yesterday coupled with the excitement from earlier has left you wanting nothing more than to find a nice soft bed and go to sleep. You settle fr resting your eyes for a bit and letting your mind wander. You're heading to Granny's place and really hope she can lend you a hand. ...Haruka has a teashop there now that you think about it. Without really trying your thoughts starts to drift off to thoughts of your Aunt, your ridiculously young aunt. How the hell... Seriously Granny had to have been like 60 when she was born!

You aren't really sure what your relationship with her is now that you think about it. You were very close when you were a kid but once your were around 10... well it wasn't a falling out, more like you just spent less and less time together. You can understand it, you were 10 and she was 18 and would probably want to hang out with her friends. Although you started to see her a bit more after you turned 12.

Out of the blue one day she just invited you to go along with her to her friends house, where she introduced you to Seta and Miss Julia. As it turned out they needed a sitter for Sarah, to which you agreed. This situation repeated itself quite a few times until Seta simply just started driving up and dumping the little girl on you door step before departing to places unknown for up to weeks at a time. Oh while the man may feint ignorance to his daughters... eccentricities, the fact he always left before anyone could protest makes you doubt his supposed obliviousness.

Sarah, while you might love her as a sister, was simply a menace, a little hellion who seems to enjoy nothing more than causing havoc. She was such a nice little girl too, only to just go from princess to demon in the month between a single visit. You don't know for sure but you have some speculations as too the cause, the foremost being that the one subject she always seemed to love to talk about, her mother, had become taboo around the girl. Maybe something to look into later...

[X] Mitsune-chan

It brings a bit of a bittersweet smile to your face as you drift off into memories of your high school career. There wasn't really much to say about your freshman year, just a typical experience you could find anyone had other than the fact you had been voluntarily Arrested by one of your sempai into joining the art club. It turned out for the better though, as you found you really loved to draw and had quite a bit more talent at it then you had first believed. your second year though was when it all changed.

Konno Mitsune, a fresh faced first year girl who joined the club without warning one day. She had no talent for art whatsoever, be it drawing sculpting, painting, photography, you name it. It had actually been on you to try and get her to quite, as the girls didn't like her flirtatious behavior and and the guys found out that that the girls would lynch them if they even tried to ask for a nude pose. And so you'd been bullied into going up to her one day after class to do what ever it took to get her to quite. It didn't go so well.

As it turned out she had only joined to try and get the attention of your sempai, the one who had recruited you, who didn't even seem to realize she existed. One thing lead to another and you ended up agreeing to help her. Over the next year and half helped her try and win his heart, teaching her to draw, posing has her boyfriend, making chocolate she could use on Valentines day, and many other zany schemes and shenanigans that seemed to come straight out of a manga.

I wonder how she's doing now? you wonder.

Your musings, however, are interrupted when the conductor announces your stop. With a grunt you push yourself up and make your way out the door with the rest of the mass. Outside you look around. It's bright and sunny, the warmth is soothing, washing away most of the stress. You take a deep breath feeling strangely refreshed enthusiastic.

"It's been ages since I was here... Hinata Sou... Hinata Sou..." You look around, you don't recognize any of the buildings around you. "Let's see... Haruka's tea shop was... Where was it? Gah, has it really been that long since I last visited aunt and granny?"

Perhaps it wasn't your best idea to come here after all... at least not without some idea where to go. Just your luck now your completely lost in another ward.

"Excuse me, are you looking for the Hinata Sou Girls Dormitory?" That voice...

Turning around you are greeted by what you had suspected. The kendoka girl from earlier is walking up to you, though her harsh stare seems to have intensified a bit. Why would she... Oh wait she mention a Girls Dorm.

"A Girls dormitory? Er, no, no. I'm looking for the Hinata Inn." yes best to clear that up before she decides to introduce you to her bokken the hard way.

"It used to be an inn, though owner has since turned it into a girl's dormitory." Her glare lessens quite a bit. "I should know, I live there."

The inn converted into a girls' dorm, why would Granny do that? ...wait. No. No! Oh goddammit! You grit your teeth and try to restrain yourself from ripping out your own hair in frustration. You roughly toss your bag on a nearby bench before dropping yourself unceremoniously on it as well. Just like that the anger leaves you, you're not one to hold a grudge, and all that's left is lethargy and disappointment. With a sigh of the damned you lower your head into the cradle of your hands. God dammit.

"Is... is there a problem?"

Oh right the girl. "It's nothing you should have to burden yourself with ma'am," Just the fact you're going to have to abandon your dreams to please your family...

Why is she staring at you like that?

"...I, I said that last part out loud didn't I?" She nods. Great...

She looks you up and down with a queer look, as if seeing your for the first time, before she sets her bag down by the bench and takes a seat next to you. Neither of you say anything. The silence reigns for a while, you wallowing in depression and her just... kinda being there.

After about 10 minutes the tableau is broken. "I... can understand where you're coming from," She has a far away look on her face, she doesn't elaborate any further. The silence returns again though not as oppressive as before. You're feeling a little better now. Perhaps you could see about staying with Haruka then...

Lost in your thoughts you don't notice at first when you companion stands up.

"My apologies, I just realized I've forgotten to introduce myself," She bows, "My name is Aoyama Motoko, heir to the Shinmei Ryu school of Kendo and fifth Dan thereof."

You flounder a bit getting up, embarrassed having forgotten something so important. "Ah, Urashima Keitaro, er second year ronin..." You bow low, a bit ashamed to having admitted you status but feeling the compulsion to do so. "So... Martial arts?"

-----------

Time seemed to just fly by. You and the ke- Aoyama-san seemed to hit it off quite well, making quite a bit of small talk while walking towards her home. Your not really sure how that happened, as you had not told her of your plans to speak to your aunt until you had made it here. You both had simply just walked and talked, and when you arrived at the steps leading up to the Hinata Sou you two had been caught by surprise. She had taken you to Haruka's tea house to speak to her, but no one seemed to be in.

"It appears Haruka-san is away at the moment," Motoko called upon descending the stairs into the restaurant proper having gone to check and see if she was just perhaps taking a day off in bed. She seemed to mull something over before coming to a decision, "I believe there is no helping it then, come with me we'll go see Hina-san."

"So tell me Urashima-san how is it you seem to be so knowledgeable about martial arts?" She asks as the two of you make your way up the long stairs up towards the former inn, "I have to admit, such an interest does not strike me as something... some like you would have."

You guess you can see that. You never really had a drive or a need to get into the art yourself but you are more than a bit knowledgeable about it thanks to your little sister. Kanako seemed to be a prodigy when it came to martial arts, soaking up knowledge like a sponge. She'd dragged you to all kinds of things, from competitions to conventions and you ended up soaking in the culture against your will. To be honest you were more than a bit leery of it, not wanting your little sister to possibly get hurt. Your worry wasn't really unjustified, as on at least two occasions you had personally been held hostage by spurned rivals, and the one time with those ninja.

"My little sister's pretty into it, She's First Dan in Shinkage Ryu Kendo and fifth Kyu in Motobu Ha Karate I beleive, she'd kinda rope me into doing all kinds of things with her," Oh how you really wish that was was just figuratively, "going to her competitions, conventions, martial arts hangouts, sparring matchs," The pit fights, Nerima, that ninja village, "it'd be pretty hard not to learn a bit after all that."

"Perhaps... It might benefit you to pay more attention to such things the next time you have the opportunity" She begins, "If you had the incident earlier would have taken a much different turn. If you are to continue to keep up such behavior it would be wise to seek training before you end up seriously hurt."

...She has a point there.

----------------------------------

"Stay where you are, Urashima-san. It would not be proper for a male to wander around a girls' dorm unescorted." Aoyama-san instructs as you arrive at the entrance. "I shall fetch grandma Hina."

"Thank you very much, Aoyama-san." You place bag down on the ground and roll your stiff shoulder. It may not have been very heavy but carrying it around all day takes a bit of a toll.

You look around the place a bit careful not to wander too far. You can't help but smile, the place hasn't change a bit in all the years, still synching up to your memories. The sign on the outside had been changed, confirming Inn's new status as a Girls Dormitory as Aoyama-san had told you. You count yourself lucky for having met the younger girl, had she not warned you you could have simply wandered into the building and went off in search of your grandma without being aware of the inns new change in status.

You are soon rejoined by Aoyama-san, who now sport a rather cute confused look on her face.

"It would appear as if our manager has left as well. Her room has been completely cleaned out. The other tenants seem to be absent as well." She informs you, "This is most odd, Narusagawa sempai should have arrived before us, Shinobu-chan and Suu as well. Kitsune-sempai tends to spend the daylight hours in her room yet even she has vacated..."

Well that's... something. The mention of a 'Kitsune-sempai' gets your attention before you dismiss the thought. Odds are it was someone else.

"Well..." Aoyama-san begins, but leaves the sentence hanging. She seems to trying to find the right words to tell you something. Probably a polite way to ask you to leave you guess. This is a girls dorm after all, and it wouldn't do for a man to hang around outside or for Motoko to be seen bringing one inside. You wouldn't want to get her in trouble.

"Thank you for your help, It was a pleasure to meet your Aoyama-san, but I guess I'd better leave." You bow, "I'll just go wait outside Aunt Haruka's tea house."

"That, that would not be necessary Urashima-san." Aoyama-san responds. You deflate, right guess they wouldn't do for a guy to be lurking just outside the property lines either, hopefully there's a park or something nearby you could wait at, "If *cough* if you are so inclined, perhaps you would wish to indulge me in a spar while we await news of her whereabouts?" she ventures staring off to the side at seemingly nothing in particular.

"I am.. not all that skilled." you inform her, though you don't see the need as to why you should. Really it should be obvious. After your dismal performance against a lowly drunkard it's hard to see why she would even ask. It's been at least 4 years since you last agreed to one of those for Kanako. You'd need the time to study after all. Absolutely nothing to do with being embarrassed about getting your ass handed to you by a 12 year old girl. That would just be petty after all.

"Think nothing of it at all," She dismisses, "In fact you could consider this your first lesson."

[X] Token protest, you don't want to impose.
[X] Remind her that this is a girls dorm, you don't want to get her in trouble.
[X] Insist that it would probably be best to wait for Haruka first.
