Pretty sure this is unintended behaviour. Basically, if you click a threadmark link from the list in the dropdown menu, you can scroll for a bit to read it, but it'll scroll back to the top of the thread to the threadmark list at least once if you do so. This is a very frustrating behaviour for the site to have, because I generally only click on threadmarks I actually want to read. In this case, I have to click on the threadmark twice, once for the initial reading portion, then again and have to scroll to find where I was.

I'm not sure if this is limited to mobile, or if the Desktop site has the same behaviour, but I'd like to petition to have that part of the site code commented out or simply just deleted, so it doesn't happen again.

I'm not sure what you mean.

So, by 'dropdown menu', I assume you mean this:

Then you click one of the threadmarks, taking you to a chapter:

You read it, but at some point, either while reading or scrolling down the discussion below, you are forcefully bounced back to the top of the thread.

Is that accurate?

I have the same thing happen on any phone I try any of QQ, SB, or SV. I can normally get about 4 to 5 minutes before it will randomlly shot to the top at max speed.

I'm always on my iPhone, and I don't think I've ever encountered that. I'm not sure I ever really use the dropdown menu though.

Not very tech-minded, so can't really help. Maybe @alethiophile or @ultima333 have an idea of what's up with that, or other technically inclined users.

Question for the people this is happening to: do you have signatures turned off/are you browsing with your phone in portrait mode?

Only things that are different from bog standard is font size and color scheme. And the issue is totally random if it happens or not most days.

I've found that, in mobile, whenever I have a threadmarks list opened on a page, either by clicking threadmarks in the forum list or opening the drop-down tab, any movement up will automatically scroll the page back to the 'top' of the list. In the case of the drop down tab, clicking on a link to bring me to a threadmark leaves that tab still open, meaning that any scrolling movement brings me back to the top. I find this can be avoided by tapping anywhere once at the threadmark to close the still-open tab.

I would love to see the auto-scroll disabled, as it's usually more trouble than it's worth.

As a frequent phone user i can honestly say that I've never experienced the "auto scroll to the top" that you mention..i tried reproducing it in a couple of threads with multiple pages of threadmarks and failed.

As to the second part, the only reason the threadmark tab would still be open after you click on a link is because the threadmark you want to go to is on the same page that you currently have opene, so while it moves your position it doesn't automatically close the tab..and iirc that behavior is the same in SB and SV, , so probably a xf thing rather than just being an artifact of QQ coding. Following the link to any other page of the forum refreshes the page which also includes closing the tab.

On a separate note
To somewhat contribute more to the topic
With regards to OP's issue, its also so etching i never encountered despite using mobile for years to read..(if it's important, exclusively on firefox, both pc and phone)

...one thong does occur to me...
IF i recall correctly opening the threadmarks is also its own hyperlink...could the settings in the users' browsers force reload/travel to hyperlink after page activity?
Asking as I'm not familiar with web coding and a hyperlink forcing the page back to the top is the only thing that could explain it...except it doesn't explain why it's happening as the moment you close the threadmarks its removed from the adress
