• The site has now migrated to Xenforo 2. If you see any issues with the forum operation, please post them in the feedback thread.
  • Due to issues with external spam filters, QQ is currently unable to send any mail to Microsoft E-mail addresses. This includes any account at live.com, hotmail.com or msn.com. Signing up to the forum with one of these addresses will result in your verification E-mail never arriving. For best results, please use a different E-mail provider for your QQ address.
  • For prospective new members, a word of warning: don't use common names like Dennis, Simon, or Kenny if you decide to create an account. Spammers have used them all before you and gotten those names flagged in the anti-spam databases. Your account registration will be rejected because of it.
  • Since it has happened MULTIPLE times now, I want to be very clear about this. You do not get to abandon an account and create a new one. You do not get to pass an account to someone else and create a new one. If you do so anyway, you will be banned for creating sockpuppets.
  • Due to the actions of particularly persistent spammers and trolls, we will be banning disposable email addresses from today onward.
  • The rules regarding NSFW links have been updated. See here for details.

Can we have Twitter Image Embeds instead of Twitter Post Embeds?

I don't want to let any social media site track my browser on QQ.

Could we please get normal proxie'd images instead of Twitter post embeds with tracking callbacks?

It already works for people who specify a Twitter-hosted image. It is possible and I already see it working. Not sure what you're imagining, but you appear to be wrong.
The post you're using as an example is a video, not an image.

Can't verify that, but whatever.

Here's a post of a still image:

There's no need to embed a call to the Twitter servers for a proxy-compatible image like that.

Well, that's on the poster for choosing to embed the post rather than the image, not something QQ can do anything about.

Twitter embeds are dumb.

99% of the time, I can't even see the post unless I click on it directly in which it will redirect me to the twitter posts! So frustrating!

😫

QQ could simply not do live-embeds from Twitter at all.

Images which get proxied are fine, and links which show up as URLs are fine.

If I need to click a URL to go to Twitter, to watch a video or whatever, that's fine. I can sanitize that link and view it through a container'd window if I want.

Relevant in at least some respects.

Posted there.

BTW, there's now a trend for YouTube to prohibit embeds from actually working, so those ones are just spying without providing value in return:

This is worse than a link would be, and I need to follow the link anyway to see whatever is in the video.

We're looking at a forum feature with negative value.

Please just disable media embeds.

That's a region issue on your end, the video there loads fine for me.
