In Exalted, (at least 1E and 2E), derangements are classified mutations (probably under the assumption their brain has locked itself into a loop if natural [or was born with a defect], if not a m outright supernatural cause]), and Scoured Perfection of Form can both grant mutations and undo them (and it specifies in the text that Cecelyne loves doing so, since she collects a debt for each occasion, Socialism combined with Capitalism, a concept that could only be forged in Hell )I think Alec needs a derangement fixer, not a mutation fixer. Taylor could always just steal that stone of comfort back from Faultline.
And then, for no reason whatsoever, Dragon decided to stalk Dream Girl every time she made an appearance."You forgot to put my vital signature into the reverse orgone oscillator."
"...yes, I forgot. But since you're here, what do you think about-"
Perhaps, but the fifty or so chapters spent altering her suggest something more complex.Canonically Taylor had D to F grade Luck, and around B grade Intelligence. Just like most other fics, here it's the exact opposite. D to F grade Intelligence and B to S Luck. I just don't get the logic of doing it. Wouldn't it make more sense to use an OC, if you intended to alter her so much?..
Taylor makes plenty questionable decisions in Worm, so her intelligence tends to be more informed than anything. You could argue she has a talent for tactics, which I would agree with, but even then, a chunk of them rely on diversions which only work if she's lucky enough for an enemy to make the wrong call in the first place (what with her insect clones), though again I wouldn't so much consider it the wrong call so much as something that could go horribly wrong. Talking about Luck, I certainly wouldn't put it in the F grade. Triggering in the first place requires you to have a Corona Pollentia, which not everyone gets, not to mention her master power being one of maybe two (WoG IIRC said Paige could've worked as well) to avert the apocalypse. Her ending sucked, admittedly, but a lot less than the literal "getting murdered by a space whale" way everyone else gets.Canonically Taylor had D to F grade Luck, and around B grade Intelligence. Just like most other fics, here it's the exact opposite. D to F grade Intelligence and B to S Luck.
Aaaand if I were the DM that'd be an alignment change.Your purpose here is twofold. One: Skills can be blamed on prodigy, and charisma on growing the fuck up. But if the fat little boy suddenly becomes swole for no good reason, eyebrows would go up. Which is not to say that you're not going to be cheating like crazy on his behalf. His physical fitness and martial prowess is going to go up at an entirely unrealistic rate, but it's not as if he's going to be submitting to regular medical examinations. His gains will be superficially plausible.
Two: It's not enough that he becomes a worthy heir. He must be seen to become a worthy heir. He must be seen making an effort in that direction. And you must be seen browbeating him into doing so, or the soul price won't trigger.
It's a shame that you can't take advantage of the same power-based training regimen yourself. If you gave yourself this kind of boost you'd overdraw your potential for growth to the point that you'd never be able to learn anything useful for the rest of your life. So in Theo's case, there are no side effects.
BOOM! HEADSHOT."What do you even see in that guy?"
You shrug your left shoulder. "Guess you were right about me."
"How's that?"
"Turns out I love pussy after all."
Harsh but fair, sexual intercourse is the ultimate in guilt by association. You don't like the atmosphere at the bar. Not the tension from the recent pressure everyone's been under. The other thing. Last week, Low Key was a bro. Thanks to Theo's little outburst, she's now also a slut. It's not like anyone quite says that to your face, but... But you don't like the atmosphere. Just because you recognize that you deserve the undercurrent of disapproval doesn't mean you like it.
"Sorry Taylor, I'm allowed to die for my country, but only my legal guardians can be paid for it..."Vista's face falls with what you judge is genuine surprise. She seems to be debating what to say for a few moments, before something distressing occurs to her.
"I don't have a thousand dollars."
I feel like there should be a color associated with the Brockton People's Revolution against the Empire.
Exalted doesn't have an alignment mechanic. Or a DM, technically.
Exalted does have at least one alignment mechanic: does the Unconquered Sun declare you a creature of darkness Y/N?Exalted doesn't have an alignment mechanic. Or a DM, technically.
It's more 'are you on The Unconquered Sun's list of Creatures of Darkness', because Exalts can put things and people there while he's 'busy'.Exalted does have at least one alignment mechanic: does the Unconquered Sun declare you a creature of darkness Y/N?
Can Vista resign? As a minor I would assume such decisions would legally be in the hands of her parents, who both want her in the Wards so they don't have to pretend to care about her.You didn't resign when you found out about the kidnapping, after all."
Vista shifts uncomfortably. "I thought about it. But I still want to make a difference."
?? Taylor noticed them.Gotta admit, the nanites were a good twist. So the glow in Sorcerer's Sight apparently doesn't "radiate" beyond an object's actual size.
Can Vista resign? As a minor I would assume such decisions would legally be in the hands of her parents, who both want her in the Wards so they don't have to pretend to care about her.
I can see her making the attempt, but I can't see the PRT taking it, or her seriously on the topic, further inflaming her grievance over their ageism.
To be fair, the Nazi playbook is to point out all of the horrible corrupt things in the government and then blame it on some nefarious Jewish cabal. Standard scapegoat protocol mixed with conspiracy theories.Seriously this chapter was over 60% Taylor complaining about corrupt government,
On the one hand, yes, the Adepts make for a compelling argument regarding poaching Wards like 13th Hour, buuut:TL;DR, if Vista decides to peace out of the Wards, the PRT can either do nothing of substance or severely shoot itself in the face in response.
OTOH, Shaker 9. Kiddy gloves only go so far, and while Vista leaving might not have immediste repercussions, I wouldn't be surprised if Cauldron intervenes to steady the ship for the Feudalism experiment in a less than pleasant manner for everyone involved.
Two wards? SS going villain isn't connected to Low KeyPerhaps rumors of the Human Master Low Key theory go around to save the PRT some face, would explain why two Wards gave info to an otherwise unrepentant Nazi villain.
Plus, Medhall's support is kinda on ice. Ideology and faith can go a long way but they can't replace food and water, and with a substantial backer gone the E88 is running without a supply train with all the consequences not having a legal identity might cause problems.
I mean, if Armsy's current nanite plan goes through that means that Tay's multiple identity strategy would completely fall apart and heavily compromise BITN in any case.
You put the book back in the box. Rather than sheathe your knife again, you drop it on the ground
I find it weird she didn't just default to finding some privacy and using mind-hands when trying to avoid nanite contamination.Once she's gone, you carefully peel off your right glove and get out your BITN phone.
"What's up, boss?" Aisha answers.
"I need some cotton."
"You fucking with me, cracker?"
"What? Oh. No, I genuinely need some cotton. Or something similar. Enough to stuff a teddy bear, give or take. Oh, and some string, and a pair of rubber gloves. Leave it outside the old lair."
"...yeah, I got nuffin'. Can I stick around and watch what the hell is going on?"
Talking about Luck, I certainly wouldn't put it in the F grade. Triggering in the first place requires you to have a Corona Pollentia, which not everyone gets, not to mention her master power being one of maybe two (WoG IIRC said Paige could've worked as well) to avert the apocalypse.
Given how the rest of this fic has gone i give it even odds that Taylor starts mastering her with Souls Price and either has her join her more secret group or has her join the Empire because "it's what would be best for her"So that makes two Wards the PRT has lost in the span of what, a week? Between that and their failure to capture a single Empire cape they have to be hurting.
So assuming Vista takes Taylor's advice on not joining New Wave I wonder if she'll try to go independent?
I think one of the things that makes this great is that it really is trodding new ground in the "Taylor's Worm playthrough" genre, especially with the Nazis being portrayed as actual people with real dialogue and in story consequences and not flanderizations. I never really know what I'm gonna read, I've read like every other version of Taylor at this point, it's just really novel.
