• The site has now migrated to Xenforo 2. If you see any issues with the forum operation, please post them in the feedback thread.
  • Due to issues with external spam filters, QQ is currently unable to send any mail to Microsoft E-mail addresses. This includes any account at live.com, hotmail.com or msn.com. Signing up to the forum with one of these addresses will result in your verification E-mail never arriving. For best results, please use a different E-mail provider for your QQ address.
  • For prospective new members, a word of warning: don't use common names like Dennis, Simon, or Kenny if you decide to create an account. Spammers have used them all before you and gotten those names flagged in the anti-spam databases. Your account registration will be rejected because of it.
  • Since it has happened MULTIPLE times now, I want to be very clear about this. You do not get to abandon an account and create a new one. You do not get to pass an account to someone else and create a new one. If you do so anyway, you will be banned for creating sockpuppets.
  • Due to the actions of particularly persistent spammers and trolls, we will be banning disposable email addresses from today onward.
  • The rules regarding NSFW links have been updated. See here for details.

Emails no longer display a post's contents.

Is this an intended feature, to no longer show the text of the email alert? I quite enjoyed it when I was able to skim through a New Thread to get an idea what it was about without actually clicking the link to the website. Is that still an option somewhere?

As far as I know, that's default XenForo2 behaviour for Emails. SB and SV both limit how much of a chapter/threadmark you can see... which makes it all the more frustrating that QQ isn't doing the same currently. Can't tell if an alert is for a chapter or for a reply since it defaulted to alerting for 40 words instead of our old default of 500 words. I think someone got lazy when they were switching over and assumed that the file storing the defaults would be used, instead of overwritten.

??? Prior to the XF2 update, the email alerts contained the full text of the post, with no limit on length that I ever saw. Which is the same behaviour SB/SV used to have, until a few months ago Xon introduced a feature specifically to only send the first few words because apparently some email providers considered the longer email spam or something.

Edit: Sorry, misread your post. You're talking about the minimum wordcount in the post in order to trigger an OP alert, not the number of words of preview included in the email.

I want to go back to the whole-text-in-email behaviour, myself. I liked having a backup of fic updates, in case QQ was down or something.
