• The regular administrative staff are taking a vacation, and in the meantime, Biigoh is taking over. See here for more information.
  • A notice about Rule 3 regarding sites hosting pirated/unauthorized content has been made. Please see here for details.
  • Staff is working to deal with the problem of synonymous tags. See here for more information and to suggest tag mergers.
  • Due to issues with external spam filters, QQ is currently unable to send any mail to Microsoft E-mail addresses. This includes any account at live.com, hotmail.com or msn.com. Signing up to the forum with one of these addresses will result in your verification E-mail never arriving. For best results, please use a different E-mail provider for your QQ address.
  • For prospective new members, a word of warning: don't use common names like Dennis, Simon, or Kenny if you decide to create an account. Spammers have used them all before you and gotten those names flagged in the anti-spam databases. Your account registration will be rejected because of it.
  • Since it has happened MULTIPLE times now, I want to be very clear about this. You do not get to abandon an account and create a new one. You do not get to pass an account to someone else and create a new one. If you do so anyway, you will be banned for creating sockpuppets.
  • Due to the actions of particularly persistent spammers and trolls, we will be banning disposable email addresses from today onward.
Thoughts on reread -- the MC is an unreliable narrator in a way I don't think I've really seen. She doesn't lie to herself or misattribute the actions of others (which is what I expect with unreliable narrators), but rather she outright doesn't think of some actions until 'Malcom' references something she has done or is planning on doing.
I try to hint as to these things, but that is intentional. The idea, more or less, is to reflect the fact that she's doing these things in a way that most people wouldn't pick up on and the best way to reflect that is to even mostly conceal it from the reader. Though, again, I am attempting to put in hints as to what's happened; as well as doing my best to never contradict the truth. Merely... Omit it.

Then he did look over at me. His expression was… Strangely sympathetic. "I tell you this because I do not want you to feel responsible for her death. Whoever she is, you could not have saved her. Do you understand?" I nodded, slowly, and only then did he look away and start driving again.

"I have told them what we want the body for. That is why you must come. Someone will examine you. It may not be a woman. It should be no more invasive than a simple fitting; they should not need to lay a finger on you to take your measurements. If they do then inform me." He didn't say why, or what he'd do, and she wasn't especially reassured. Thanks to her mother there had been… A lot of fittings. None of them had been what she'd call 'uninvasive'.
@TotalAbsolutism: Everything in this chapter up to and including the first of the two quoted paragraphs is in first person, while the second paragraph through the rest of the chapter suddenly switches to third.
