Man, do I have a headache.

_____________________________________________________________

It is the the second day of November.

Dawn has come, bringing with it the second crimson sun rise.

You've only seen it twice, and you already hate it. Almost as much as you hate the tepid brown sludge in your cup. You choke down another swallowful and look down at the apartment courtyard. A makeshift barricade blocks what was once the street entrance while a bunch of absurd characters stand watch.

And boy you wish that descriptor wasn't so literal.

A wizard is looking mystified as a guy starts to wax on about the finer points of guns, while some people in black robes flicker in and out of what you're going to call the visual spectrum. One second you see them, the next you can't, then there's a heatwave and they're there again.

Of course, those are just the people working the courtyard. There's at least a dozen more of them holed up in their rooms in the apartment, and a few loitering on the roof looking out over the husk of the town of Betwixt.

Hard to believe that just two days ago everything had been so... Normal. Betwixt was just a college town. Not quite sleepy, but it wasn't exactly the biggest place in the state. If shit was going to hit the fan, you wouldn't have thought it'd happen here. Then your brain catches up to you, and tells you to stop being such a moron. Cell phone reception for those who still owned them was gone, zombies were wandering the streets, land-lines were down, and power was basically gone from this entire section of town.

Also, the sky has turned red.

Yeah, whatever happened on Halloween definitely wasn't some little local shindig.

But of course, that's not what's bothering you. And while the sleep loss is seriously starting to weigh in, that's not it either.

It's the fact that you've been put in charge of this little ragamuffin group. Half on account of the fact that you're the resident landlord of this place, and half on account of the fact that you've kept a pretty level head when several other people did not. In the past day and a half, you've talked down two jumpers, stopped a murder, and shot at more zombies then you care to keep track of.

Somehow, this has all coalesced into something all the other people here view as 'Valuable Leadership Traits'. A few people have even asked what your 'costume' had been. When you say you hadn't been wearing one they get this funny look in their eye, and point out your white hair. Which you've had before all this started. Which you're far more likely to more of, before this is anything resembling over.

Speaking of white hair, you have a strategy meeting in about an hour. There, you'll be talking with a couple of the other people who've more or less been pushed forward into leadership roles like yours and figuring out what you'll be trying to accomplish for the next few days, as well as how you'll accomplish it.

Somethings will be simple, if not easy. Scavenging just requires muscle, diligence, and knowing what can be useful.

Other things... Well, getting power back would be cool, but you're not sure at the moment how you'd go about that.

Then there's trying to find other survivors. Which isn't a prickly issue right now since about half of the room are unoccupied due to the previous occupants getting a sudden case of 'death' or just not being themselves anymore. But once those rooms fill up, then you're going to need to either look to generous souls willing to share space or expand your little 'fort' somehow.

Not to mention little details like food.

Either way, you should start thinking about what you're going to bring up at the meeting, and see if you can't come up with a few solutions for those problems.

[ ] We need more food.
[ ] How can we get the power back?
[ ] Searching for other survivors is our top priority.
[ ] These zombies are really getting annoying.
[ ] Inventory People are our most valuable resouce. Who do we have?

[X] Inventory People are our most valuable resouce. Who do we have?
-This comes first, before any of the other things. Do we have druids who can grow plants? Do we have anyone who knows how to do any farming? Anyone who knows where to find some chickens? Anyone who knows how to make our own power plant, mundane or magical? Do we have wizards who know how to scry for other survivors? Priests who can smite undead?

Before we decide what we will do, we need to know what we have to do it with.

[X] Happery

Because we need to know what we Have, to know how we can get New stuff.

Also, Halloween World. I've seen fics about it on Vathara's page, but I haven't actually read it yet. Need to find a link.

[X] Inventory People are our most valuable resouce. Who do we have?

Agreed. This first.

[X] Searching for other survivors is our top priority.

But if we're bringing up what we're going to want them to do after the meeting, finding other survivors could be the most time critical objective.

[X] Happery

is this based on that one BtVS Halloween world fic?

[X] Plan Happery.

How's Faction Quest coming along Shaderic.
