Android 17 died at the hands of Trunks, but someone in the afterlife has other plans for him, and they involve a whole new Earth. They want him to protect it, but he's not one to follow orders. However, as the years pass, he begins to learn to be Human again in ways he never thought possible. Perhaps all it took was a little bit of Human touch.

Prologue: Another World

Android 17, or Lapis as only a few knew him by originally was facing a situation he had not expected. Not in his wildest dreams. He was dead. At the hands of the little squirt they let grow. The kid who they used to have fun beating up and torturing. He never really thought that his death would come so quickly.

Naturally, he was quite angry. Angry at himself, angry at his sister, and most importantly, furious at Trunks.

That kid they thought was gone had returned and completely dominated them. It was a completely overwhelming amount of force. There was nothing they could do. If he were a more moral man, he would have accepted his fate cleanly, but he was not a good or kind man.

He lived for himself and himself only, besides maybe his sister in some aspects, he didn't give a single care or concern to anything, just killing humans and burning everything to the ground.

How dare that pipsqueak put an end to his fun!

It was quite infuriating, almost as much as the situation he was in now.

He didn't even have his body anymore, and things just kept stacking up against his favor. Now he was nothing but a dark red fluffy ball-like cloud on an endlessly long bridge that snaked over an endless yellowish cloud sky. That wasn't important though. He needed to get his body back, and the sooner the better.

He began hopping to the edge of the bridge, but the large metallic walls on the side were just too high for him to hop off no matter how hard he tried.

He grit his nonexistent teeth, and took a running start, but he barely cleared seven inches.

He simply could not do it.

His next thought was to incite a riot, and perhaps get whatever brought him here's attention. 'Going straight to the source' so to say.

And so, he rammed himself into several other of the puffballs, but they simply ignored him as if he didn't exist, and he harmlessly bumped into them, not moving them and inch.

Okay, so violence wasn't working. Maybe verbal provocations would work?

He floated over to one of the spirits and began trying to provoke it, calling it all sorts of insults, and threatening to kill it. Yet it didn't move, as if it couldn't hear him at all whatsoever.

This only frustrated him further. What was he to do?

There was no beginning or end to this bridge that he could see. Well, if they weren't going to stop him, then he would skip the line. People who waited in line were suckers anyways.

Hovering down the road, he enjoyed this tiny amount of power he expressed over the other balls of fluffy clouds. He whizzed past them, and they didn't even seem to notice him al all whatsoever.

However, after some time, he came to the entrance of a huge house with a large triangular shingled roof and several blue and red humanoids in casual business attire with horns on the side of their heads. They had glasses and looked like overworked, drained office workers.

One of them saw him, and began running towards him. It was about to say something when it pulled out a ringing very old model silver flip phone from it's pocket and answered it.

Android 17 sped towards it, and there was still half a mile between them and the flat road. As he approached, he found himself stopped by some mysterious force that looked down upon him from above. It was a mental pressure that he had not felt, even from Trunks. It made his mind twist and shiver in his head. It was as if his brain was being pounded to mush.

Someone, or something immensely powerful was there, waiting for him to arrive while playing with his head.

Seemingly finished with his phone call, the horned man ran up to him, then took a moment to catch his breath in front of him.

"You, are you Lapis-?" He began to say his full name, but Android 17 cut him off.

"Yes. What do you want?" Android 17 growled, letting his anger at his situation sink into his words.

"The...Supreme...Kai...Wants...To speak with you." The fellow said through heavy breathing, as he hadn't fully caught his breath from sprinting over.

"Supreme Kai? Who's that?" Android 17 asked, curious if it was the presence he had felt that was quite overwhelming just a moment ago.

The horned fellow seemed to be taken aback by the question, and his blue face almost went red as he seemed to be getting worked up.

"Who is the Supreme Kai? Why you! Grrrrr." He growled and hopped around in anger for a moment before correcting his behavior.

"If you must know, the Supreme Kai is the most important God in the universe besides of course the Grand Supreme Kai, who is currently not with us. Be honored that he has called for you with an offer. Evil people like you usually never get such a chance." The being leaned forward and vented his anger at him.

"So, take me to him." Android 17 replied, not giving this little freak the satisfaction of retaliating. He wanted to, he so wanted to blast him to bits, but he couldn't in this form. Not for any lack of him trying.

The little horned office worker squinted his eyes angrily at him but acquiesced after a moment. It seemed he had made an enemy in the lower management of wherever this was, but he didn't care.

Within seconds, the space around them twisted and blurred, and Android 17 found himself standing in a small and quite pretty office which consisted of light blue walls, with large metallic shelves and cabinets, upon which many folders and briefcases lay.

In front of him was a large wooden polished redwood desk, lit by a large ceiling light that was round with frosted glass, giving a soft light on the room. Behind the desk was a short being who had a white mohawk, light purple skin and long sharp ears, like how one might picture on a demon. His thin eyes were squinted as he watched the android's soul appear in front of the desk.

"Greetings mortal. I am calling you here because I believe that there is potentially good buried behind all the Evil sins you have committed. That the human boy you once were still exists somewhere in you. Am I wrong in thinking such?" The being asked, his eyes narrowing to small slits as he washed his gaze over Android 17.

"What could you possibly know about me, Alien?" Android 17 growled in an attempt to intimidate him, forgetting that he was just a puffy little red cloud.

"I know all about you, Lapis. From the moment you were born, to the second you were dead, all of your history was written for me to read, and I have a lot of time on my hands. Almost as much as you would if you hadn't chosen a path of destruction. You know, what the doctor did to you extended your lifespan for thousands, if not tens of thousands of years, yet you chose to throw it away." The being spoke, his voice sleek and slimy, akin to a thick coating of oil atop every syllable.

Android 17 tried to speak, but found he couldn't.

"No. Don't speak. You don't really have a choice in this matter. This result was chosen as soon as you died to Trunks." The being said, raising a pointer finger up to stop any rejection.

The Supreme Kai shook his head in thought.

"What was I saying again? Ahh right, you have a new job. Forget your fun you had with your sister. That's long over." He said, recovering his train of thought. As he sat at his desk, he picked up a sheaf of papers from his desk, looking over them with an air of importance.

"You see, I have been contacted by someone from a different timeline, someone very important, and he needed my help. Well, he asked for Trunks, but I have other plans for that boy. So, you'll have to do as a replacement." The supreme Kai finished looking at Android 17, who was fuming but unable to do anything to free himself or fight back.

"Essentially, you'll be going to a new Earth. It's not too much different than the one you're used to, but there are no fighters like you, Trunks, Goku, Vegeta, or your sister Lazuli there. Essentially, you will be the single most powerful being on that planet. Even more so than you were on your Earth." He finished, feeling the puzzlement in Android 17's air.

"Let me explain further. The God who contacted me came from the future of that world, spending all his power in contacting me to send help over to the past. In short, there is only once chance, and it's a one way trip. You won't be coming back. Now, let me explain what you have to do. You have to save the world from the threat that will descend upon it not too long after you arrive. Don't bother asking me the threat. You'll immediately know what it is when it happens" The Supreme Kai spoke, giving a small smile as he felt Android 17's mood darken.

"Yes, you don't like that do you? You're a destroyer, right? But too bad, you have no say in this. Besides, I have put a restriction on your body and soul. If you kill humans needlessly in a way that I deem pointless, you will be removed and put in a pocket dimension prison for an amount of time that I deem long enough. Oh and don't think you can use it to get out of sticky situations, as twenty years in the prison is less than a second in the other timeline. So feel free to set yourself up to fail." The Supreme Kai chuckled before looking Android 17 in his nonexistent eyes.

"Let me be very clear. You are going there to protect Humanity, not destroy it. If you fail in your job too many times, I will be forced to end you myself. Do I make myself clear?" the Supreme Kai finished coldly.

"Crystal" Android 17 growled out, having realized that this was out of his hands.

"Good. I'm glad you catch on quick. Good luck in your new world. I'll be watching every moment" The Supreme Kai said, his words almost feeling like thick venom being injected into his veins directly from his mouth.

With that said, everything turned a blinding white as Android 17 became immensely dizzy.

------------------------------------------

Android 17 opened his eyes to the sights of what he thought was a peaceful Earth. The sun was shining, and the birds were singing, but he could think of nothing but the words of that 'Supreme Kai'. He had never been so utterly humiliated. With Trunks, he had the chance to fight back, but this being made an utter fool out of him, and it infuriated him.

At the moment he was standing on the sidewalk outside of a park, mere feet away from a wooden bench that rested against the black metal railings of a park fence. The summer sun shone through the trees that created a cooling canopy over the side of the street, across from large rectangular buildings of a shape he was wholly unused to. On his earth, all the buildings were round like domes.

Here they were packed close together, and sharply rectangular.

How awful.

Still, he needed to protect this world, at least until he got strong enough to defeat that 'Supreme Kai' as he was called. He felt the hot desire run through his veins, but quickly calmed himself. Right now he was not a match for the Supreme Kai's power...But that didn't mean he wouldn't be in the future. If he trained that was.

And train he would. He hated being under someone else's thumb. Right when he thought he had escaped Dr. Gero, he was brought back from the dead to be someone else's lap dog? Hell no, not for long. Not if he had a say in it.

"Which I don't" he mumbled and walked over to the bench, sitting down on it, and ruffling his black t-shirt and causing the RR to fold in on itself. His bandanna that he had tied loosely around his neck rode up to his chin, and he looked slightly amusing to anyone who would see him in passing. However, aside from the passing cars, nobody walked by at the moment.

Resting his arms at the top of the bench, spreading them wide, Android 17 began thinking about what he would do in the meanwhile. For now he would comply, but it didn't mean he was going to do it in the way of a good guy.

Instead, he would consolidate power in his own way. Through force if necessary.

A smirk crossed his face as he began formulating just how he would do things, and do things he would.

The Supreme Kai WISHES he had even the tiniest fraction of gravitas, power and overall speaking skills that this very much likely NOT Supreme Kai has.

Comparing this being to that absolute failure of a Kai is an insult of the highest order frankly.

Thank you for the review. Yeah, You're probably right, but I wanted to give the Supreme Kai his time to shine as he realistically would be the only one capable of doing this besides maybe Whis. I'm not going to argue against the speaking skill point, but power wise my thought process went like this.

The Supreme Kai of the main timeline said he could destroy Frieza with one hit, and he made Buu Saga Piccolo not want to fight him, and he restrained SSJ1 Gohan, so he should be at least equal to Buu saga Piccolo who is definitely stronger than the androids, and bare minimum strong enough to one shot Frieza which should put him in the android tier. I kind of just extrapolated that to this timeline's Supreme Kai.

For sure, he would destroy the androids easily. I think people dismiss him because he was gassed up as a big deal only for Goku to threaten his life, which took the wind out and everything after did not help. In his defence, I don't think he got proper tutelage as a Kaioshin with Buu eating most of them and the Elder Kai being sealed or too distracted by tits. This one could very well be an alternate version that lived up to his full potential.

Chapter One: Settling Down New
Chapter One: Settling Down

As Android 17 relaxed on the bench, his thoughts swirled and took many forms including landing halfway between visualized scenarios of him destroying that "Supreme Kai", and the others being about figuring out just what this threat was that would require him or his murderer Trunks.

His mood soured even more, and he quickly got Trunks off his mind only to replace the feelings with a slight determination. A determination to figure out just where he was and what he had to do.

Luckily for him, as he looked up the road, he noticed a police officer lounging next to his car, drinking a bottle of pop. For a brief moment he felt a pang of anxiety, as he might not be able to kill this man without severe consequences, should he be recognized, but that thought was instantly dismissed.

This was an earth in a different timeline where nobody he knew existed. Nobody would know his past. It was impossible for them to.

He walked up to the car and greeted the officer. He was a portly officer with a brown and tan sheriff's outfit with a big silver badge. He had a round face, with big cheeks, bright blue eyes, and a thick brown moustache. His receding hairline was covered by his cowboy styled sheriff hat.

"Hello, officer. I'm new to the area. Just arrived today, could you tell me the name of this city again. I'm a bit of a tourist." Android 17 said, giving his best impression of a tourist, and he didn't need to try hard as he actually was a tourist. Though not one of his own volition.

"My greetings to you stranger. I can see you're not from around this neck of Reno Texas. Do make yourself at home young man, but mind yourself in the rivers, we have some big catfish around here that don't mind nudging up against you in the waters". The man spoke, giving Android 17 a warm smile. He put his soda down on the hood of his car. It seemed that he thought that Android 17 was one of those college kids that would get drunk and go fishing and swimming in the rivers with his buddies. He could not even begin to comprehend that the young man in front of him had likely killed more people than there were in his entire city.

Android 17 nodded, giving the man a short response.

"Thanks, you know any good places to get work here? I'm a bit low on cash and am looking to find a place to settle down for a while. I've just been going from city to city for as long as I can remember and I want to settle down for a while." Android 17 replied, giving the man an on the fly background.

"Huh, well, If you're a citizen, you could find some jobs at the coal mines nearby, or some construction work if you've got a good body on you. I can't help you if you're an illegal alien though. But you don't look like one of them border crossers from the south, so you should be fine. I'll tell you what, recently, our esteemed mayor has set up a new program after the recent work regulation changes that relaxed the conditions of lumberyard workers after many quit back last year." The sheriff began a monologue to Android 17 who was being quite patient with him already, despite his growing annoyance with all the talking.

The sheriff continued again after catching his breath.

"If you go up to the lumbermill three miles up north, talk to John the Manager there, and tell him Nick sent you. He can set you up with work guaranteed. The pays not bad either, somewhere around 30 or so smackers an hour. Does that sound good?" The sheriff finished with a question, expectantly.

"I don't mind trying it out. My name is Lapis, nice to meet you. "Android 17 replied. If worse came to worse, he could just leave and find somewhere else to go after thoroughly destroying everything around him. The "Supreme Kai" never said anything about destroying buildings or machinery.

A smile formed on Android 17's face as things worked out piece by piece in his head.

"Took you long enough. Well, I'll tell you what. You seem like a good enough fellow, and I'm on break for the next hour. I could drive you over to the mill if you want. I got nothing better to do at the moment, and you need a job." The Sherriff finished, reaching his hand out to shake 17's.

Android 17 looked down at it for a moment before slowly reaching out to him and very gently shaking his hand. He was so used to not holding back that he never really got used to the right amount of strength to use on regular humans without breaking them in half like twigs.

The policeman's grip was firm, but Android 17's was much stronger and much much firmer.

The man's eyes widened and his face turned a little red with a pained wince.

Android 17 quickly let go of his hand. He didn't want to break this man and incur the wrath of the "Supreme Kai". What an awfully grandiose name and title.

The policeman blew on his hand and wriggled his fingers, making sure they still worked after that iron handshake.

"You've got a mighty tight grip young sir. It's good to see the young folks keeping up with their fitness these days, Lord knows us older folks are getting a bit rotund." The Sheriff let out a hearty laugh before picking up the bottle he had placed down on the hood of his car. Walking around the side of the cruiser, he opened the driver's side door and sat down at the wheel, before leaning across the seat, and opening the passenger side door.

"Don't tell anyone I let you sit here, it's against protocol, but the back is a bit cramped." The sheriff said, glancing to the back sat where a few outfits sat folded next to a cardboard box on a seat.

Lapis sat down at the passenger side, and caught a strange glance from the sheriff.

"Your seatbelt, please." He said, chuckling softly at the brash young man. The young folks really were a daring bunch. He was a good driver, and crime wasn't that high here, but the law was the law, and he had already broke regulations once for this guy. He didn't want to make a habit of it.

"Right." Android 17 said, quickly remembering that seatbelts were a thing. He traveled by flying most of the time, and seatbelts were utterly meaningless to him. The car could explode on him, and he wouldn't even be singed. He took his seatbelt and clicked it closed. Then the car engine revved and growled to a start, quieting to a satisfying rumble.

The sheriff pulled out of the parking spot, and began driving to his destination not too far away. As the buildings and trees passed, the air conditioning in the car was on a comfortable blast, as the summer sun made the car's interior quite hot otherwise.

Either way, it wasn't that bad. The radios buzzed with the occasional connections from other officers around the city, calling for whatever things they were doing, and the sheriff put on some soft rock station on the car's media radio.

It wasn't his favorite, but Android 17 didn't mind soft rock and country. They were simple and soothing for him, and it didn't make him want to leave the car.

Eventually, after some small talk, the Sheriff pulled through a large fenced off area where trucks went back and forth between buildings with large logs in their beds, and planks. Men ran back and forth with clipboards, trolleys, and other machinery as they went to and from from buildings.

One thing Android 17 quickly noticed was that there were no animal people. None at all. It seemed so far that Humans were the only race on the planet besides animals, but he wasn't completely sure. This could just be a place where the animal folks didn't live. He had killed his fair share of them. That was for sure.

The sheriff pulled up in front of a large building that went up three stories which had a long wooden domed porch.

They both exited the car, and the Sheriff waved him over to the building.

"C'mon Lapis, let's get you set up with a job." The sheriff called out before walking into the building, with 17 hot on his heels.

--------------------------------

Three weeks later, Android 17 stepped out of a green pickup, and walked to the back. Opening the hatch, he picked up a huge stack of tied planks that were easily a few hundred pounds, resting them on his right shoulder. He walked across the dirt road over to a processing building where the planks were cut further and split before being sent out to be processed further.

He entered the building into a huge open area where there were sawmills and storage crates all around. Managers and sawmill operators were doing their work, when one of them looked up to the approaching Android. He wore a protective outfit with a hard hat, goggles, and a mask. Sawdust tended to get thrown around, and splinters went flying from time to time, so he needed to protect his hands, eyes, and not breathe in all sorts of things.

"Put 'em over here." The man said, pulling up his protective goggles and pointing with his gloved hand to the large crate full of bundles of planks to his right.

"You got it." Android 17 said, then placed the bundle down with a simple bend.

"I don't know how you got so strong, but you're a big help my man. Thanks for the assistance." The man said as Android 17 stood up and began going back to the truck.

"No problem." Android 17 said, a small smile on his face.

It was a weird feeling, cooperating in something other than destruction, and it really felt like he was somewhat human. Perhaps he could find a future for himself here. He didn't need to destroy things and kill people to enjoy himself after all.

Well, he supposed this was part of being a human.

Nodding to the man before leaving, his steps felt a bit lighter. Most importantly, he began to feel just a tiny bit like a human again.

---------------------------------

Android 17 turned the keys to his apartment door, and with a soft click the door opened. Stepping into his four room apartment, Android 17 closed the door and stripped off his clothes, revealing his permanently chiseled body beneath. What the doctor had done to him had made it impossible for him to get fat or overweight. Anything he ate was just converted into energy that was recycled into the infinite energy generator.

Essentially, he couldn't get fat.

Not that he would, as eating was entirely optional for him. All he needed to do was drink water. The mad doctor had taken away his need to sleep or eat. Removing two more things that would make him human in favor of removing what he saw as weaknesses. Android 17 only recently started eating again. As on his world, he didn't care about eating. Hunger for him didn't exist, replaced by the constant contentment brought by the infinite energy generator.

What the doctor did to him when he replaced every single cell of his body with synthetic material also altered his brain to a large degree.

What was once a carefree human boy all those years ago was now a rational, but ego centrical killer that could complete almost any job programmed into him. It was a harrowing and horrible experience that had claimed the lives of many children in Gero's labs before him. He was just lucky in a vile sense. He and his sister survived, but at the price of their memories, humanity, and family which were killed almost immediately after the kidnapping. No sense in keeping alive anyone or anything that could distract from missions.

Stepping into the bathroom, Android 17 started a cold shower, letting the cold water wash over his body. He didn't sweat anymore, but he did get grime from the workplace on him, and he didn't like being dirty for no reason.

He let the water wash away the dirt, dust, and grime, replaced by his clear pale synthetic skin.

His feeling of humanity that he had been gaining over the past weeks began to ebb and flow away when he was alone like this, forced to confront his very much no longer human body and brain.

He sighed as he washed off, the soap smelling quite fresh on him. Things were not so simple. He couldn't entertain these feelings. He was a fighter, a destroyer. Not a peon or workman. Still, he indulged himself anyways. He assumed that whenever this threat descended upon the world, he may not gain these feelings after much in the long term so he would enjoy it while he could, lest he never enjoy it again.

After he finished his shower he stepped out and dried off, finishing some of his routine of cleaning off. He had to maintain his body, as he hated ugliness, another implanted thought, courtesy of Gero. Something he couldn't change even if he wanted to. Another thing he couldn't change...

He had been thinking that more than he'd like to lately, and it didn't seem to be getting better. Sure, if what the "Supreme Kai" had said was true, he was the strongest being on the planet, but that meant nothing if he couldn't express that strength in any way that mattered.

He really hated that strange alien. Even more than Trunks, now that Trunks was gone. When the time finally came, he would take pleasure in killing him. Of that he was sure, and nothing could change his mind.

Yeah he certianly got the short end of the stick, and didn't do much with what he had. That's also a very nice idea you have at the end there.

Chapter Two: An Amusing Threat New
Chapter Two: An Amusing Threat

Android 17 finished putting on his clothes, those of which he had bought the week prior. He was most comfortable in jeans and t-shirts, and he never was seen without his bandanna, be it tied around his right arm, or loosely tied around his neck. Right now he got into a black t and blue jeans, slipping on white socks and his shoes that looked quite like black converse skater shoes.

With his youthful appearance, he could easily be confused for a rebellious college student. Unfortunately for him, he would look that way for possibly hundreds, if not thousands of years. He had just taken his clothes back from the washer and dry cleaner three blocks away, so they were quite well cleaned. He couldn't afford to get a set installed yet, so he did his regular washes there.

Getting used to civilization was quite odd for him, and frankly a little confusing, but Lapis was far from stupid, and he eventually after his second week got most of the nuances and expectations down. It was a large ask of him not to destroy anything major, but for the moment he was complying with the Supreme Kai's mission. He realized that he was outgunned and he had just a little bit began to come to terms with civilization.

He had no memories prior to waking up at Gero's call during the experiments, and the agony of what Gero repeatedly forced into and out of his body. That madman had no regrets or remorse, very much mirroring him wiping out humanity. Yet now there was a small part of him in the back of his mind that objected to destroying humanity here after destroying the 'Supreme Kai'.

He didn't want to admit it, but it felt strangely fulfilling and novel living like a normal human. One without the baggage of genocide and bloody hands.

He let out a small laugh as he walked into his living room/lounge area across from his kitchen and next to the bedroom and bathroom. Dropping down onto the dark blue suede couch, he exhaled slowly, the laughter fading into a long breath.

He was fooling himself and failing. He never could be a normal human. Not just in mind, but in body and history. No matter how he blended in, death would soon follow, and how long did he really think his peaceful life would last truly? One year? Five? Ten? It couldn't be much longer than that due to the subdued feeling of urgency the 'Supreme Kai' spoke with.

This meant he likely had time to prepare.

Despite the Kai's cold and judgmental exterior, he had given him wiggle room. He wasn't going to thank him for it. It was the bare minimum of courtesy he should be afforded. There wasn't much more to be said. His immediate goal had been formed. Find out more about the world and maybe find hints on what might come in the future. Being proactive might just subdue the violent thoughts and urges he had been feeling.

This was the longest he had gone without killing anyone in a while, and he would be lying if he said he didn't want to murder a few people he met on his way home. How easy it would be too. A single soft flick from his fingers, and their bodies along with the entire street behind them would be smoking rubble and blood splatter.

He wasn't sure how long he could hold out, and it seemed all too inevitable that there was a lot of death in his future. The question was not if, but only when.

Still, it wasn't as if this earth was all that bad. There were plenty of women he could fraternize with, and perhaps he even could meet a woman that met his fancy? They could settle down, have a kid or two, maybe even three. That definitely didn't sound bad.

Android 17 leaned his head back and let out a self depreciating laugh.

Could he even make it that long without being killed by the 'Supreme Kai'? He certainly didn't know how strong that alien was. One thing was sure, it was that he was weaker than him. That much was apparent.

Training was important, but he wasn't sure how to train or where to start. Gero hadn't given him any particularly useful data on that.

What was especially troublesome was that he had no way to sense energy or any knowledge on where to start. There could be a god next door to him and he wouldn't know.

Tsk.

The doctor should have given him some form of Ki scanner like he did 16.

No. Scratch that. The doctor had already screwed him up royally. More mechanical parts would only make his detachment worse. He already felt strange at times, especially at night when all was quiet. When there was nothing but himself and the darkness.

Some moments he felt like it was no longer his body, as if he was only wearing a skinsuit, and he was only a disembodied consciousness at the worst of times. Was that really what he wanted? More feelings of disassociation and detachment?

Still, whenever he felt that way back on his earth, he'd take it out on a heavily populated city, mall, shopping center, or apartment complex. Now though, he had no release. No valve was turned to expel the violence.

He shut his eyes tightly and relaxed as best he could. He stayed that way for five minutes, just silently decompressing. His chest rising and falling, and his silent breaths barely audible.

Then, his eyes snapped open and he rose from the couch.

Sitting around and not progressing his goal was something that he didn't want to get in the habit of now that he officially had one of his own.

Picking up his wallet, keys, and a stick of gum he had bought earlier, Android 17 stuffed them into his jeans pocket and left the apartment, locking it behind him. Leisurely leaving the building, Android 17 walked down the small city streets, looking around at all the people and shops.

He was going to enter a building he never really thought he would ever enter prior to his extraction from his planet. A library. The internet was the best tool of the modern day for information gathering. Books were quite good too for specific highly specialized information, but the internet could pull up any and everything he could think of if he knew where to look.

Turning into a smaller side street, Android 17 made it halfway down before bursting up into the sky with a flashing rush of flaring blazing energy.

Now high in the sky, but not too high to make out the basics, Android 17 shot across the sky towards where he had seen the library on the map before. It was a large stone building surrounded by parking lots with an assortment of flags flying proudly, first being the American flag, the County's flag, and the local city flag.

Finding it in record time, Android 17 descended from the sky nearby, catching the eyes of several passersby who looked over after hearing the loud crunch sound of splintering rocks from Android 17's fast descent to the parking lot.

It seemed that Android 17 had left two foot sized indents into the concrete parking lot where he landed.

However, not seeing anything too suspicious, they turned their gazes away from him eventually as he walked towards the entrance, likely attributing up the weird crunch sounds to something other than him.

As he entered through the quadruple doors at the front of the Library, Android 17 entered the air conditioned building and was greeted by the brightly lit reception area, behind which was a large maze of bookshelves across from a lounge with long tables housing monitors and computer towers.

Various children and adults sat at them, but there were about a dozen free, and he sat at one and began his work.

Logging in on a guest account, he began looking up the basics of the world.

It looked that he was in a country called North America, in one of the southern states. Texas. Continuing to look at an interactive map of the world, he absorbed the basic shapes of the continents, and most of the major countries.

Then, focusing back on North America, Android 17 began looking up the political system, which was different than it was on his earth which was ruled by a king. It made his head hurt, such complex systems with their constant conflicts. Just appoint a king and get it over with. Why all the constant changes of power?

It wasn't worth dwelling on though, as he wouldn't be taking any prominent political positions anytime soon. Any debates he had would be far more easily settled with his fists. A dark smile flashed across his face.

You could take him out of his world, and put restrictions on what he should do, but you couldn't change his violent nature without the help of the now defunct and quite dead Gero.

His mind settled as he continued looking over a plethora of topics, including but not limited to population sizes, military might, and technology. Needless to say, what the 'Supreme Kai' had said about his power was proven stunningly correct. There was no Ki in this world, no fighters flying overhead, and no planet destroying villains wandering the earth for anyone to bump into.

This world was...

"Disappointing", Android 17 found himself speaking his thoughts out loud subconsciously. On some degree he believed his abductor, but finding out in person was just a completely different level of being let down.

He had hoped that there would be some form of protector, some super powered beings, yet there were none. There was no one great individual that he could confront and toy with. From his brief research, there was nobody that could survive a full powered punch from him, let alone a barrage of blasts that he would casually blast that fool Gohan with.

What was he to do, and how would he find a training partner? He didn't know how to harness Ki, or sense it, so there was no way he could grow an army of fighters to help him in the future in any meaningful way.

Wait a second...

A thought flashed through his mind, and he zeroed in on a sentence the 'Supreme Kai' had said when he had briefly met him. There was a god from this timeline that had contacted him for help. Why didn't he solve the issue himself? Was this because he wasn't strong enough? OR was there some form of restriction stopping him?

More headaches.

Grinding his teeth for a moment, he came up with an idea. Just asking the 'Supreme Kai' outright. Though finding a way to contact him was something else entirely. Ehh, he could wing it. After all, the Kai had said he would be watching him closely. Time to put him to the test.

"Su...Su..Supreme Kai!" He managed to grit out through his quickly mounting rage and humiliation at needing to call him for help. Especially from his captor.

'I expected you to try to contact me eventually, but this soon? Be quick mortal. I don't have all day." the voice of the Kai filled his mind.

"You mentioned a god contacting you for help from this timeline. Why didn't he fix the issue you sent me to fix?" Android 17 replied with his thoughts, and he could practically feel the condescension dripping from the Kai's reply that swiftly followed.

"You fool. Do you really think us gods have time to settle disputes on individual planets? Thanks to Frieza, in our universe, the amount of planets with mortal life was no more than sixty. So my job was relatively easy, but in the one you are in now, there was no Frieza exterminating planetary civilizations, and blowing up solar systems. There are so many more planets to watch over that you could even say that this earth was blessed for the local Kai to notice it and contact me. I assume he had his reasons in doing so.

Also, even if that weren't the case, divine law states in the most direct of terms that we can't interfere too much in mortal matters. Hence why he contacted me with an offer. Does that answer your question?" the Kai responded slightly vague and cryptically.

"So, does that mean that your interference is going against divine law?" Android 17 replied, raising an eyebrow.

"How annoyingly perceptive you are. Yes it is, but good luck proving it, or even getting the attention of higher gods in the first place." the Kai's irritated reply came back.

"So, out of curiosity, if I started blowing up planets other than Earth, I would get attention?" Android 17 grinned excitedly.

"Don't! As much as I would like to see you destroyed by Beerus the God of Destruction of your timeline, I sent you there with a purpose, and I intend for you to fulfill it. Afterwards feel free to meaninglessly throw your life away again."

Android 17 took in the new information. A God of Destruction? What was that?

"God of Destruction Beerus, huh? Sounds interesting. Maybe if I tell him what you did to me, he would help me get revenge on you." Android 17 taunted the Kai.

"..." The Kai's silence sent a strange message to 17. A message of weakness that he was more than willing to jump upon.

"Cat got your tongue?" Android 17 responded, feeling quite good about himself.

"No...I'm just astounded by your foolishness. But feel free to tell him all about what I did if you can even find him. I really would like to see his reaction to you asking him to kill me. That would be quite amusing to see. You've really outdone yourself with this conversation Lapis. I don't know what I was expecting when you contacted me, but threatening me with the God of Destruction was not something that I could come up with on my best of days. Anyways, while amusing, I'm busy. Bye." With the last disconcerting answer, the 'Supreme Kai' ended the connection.

Android 17 was left in a confused state of anger and a small creeping dread. The 'Supreme Kai' seemed quite convinced that this God of Destruction Beerus would not raise a hand to him. Was this because they were friends? Or was interference not looked well upon?

This was all so annoying having no information and the smug attitude the Kai took with him was another problem. He hated being looked down upon.

His hands clenched into tightly closed fists as he got up from the computer.

He had to let out some steam before he blew this building and everyone inside it to ashes.
