Hello everybody, juuust thought that since I've been doing this on a blue moon, IRC wise for some time now. And that it might liven up the general thread a little bit, that I'd start an 'off' thread where I'd just comment on a list of recent-ie Kickstarter Projects on hand.
Some of them worth a light glance/eye on, some of them being Playing Card spam, and some of them... a fine example of 'Steam Greenlight' tier horror.
Anyway, I'll start by just off loading an IRC of my own logs, without any additional commentary from regulars/lurkers IRC because I'd like to think that I have that sort of care for permissions and such.
EDIT: PS, if by chance this doesn't quite fit the General thread mods. Then feel free to move it to a more appropiate thread if possible. Cool? Thanks.

[18:28] <KickstarterMB> Starting with Playing Card porn, SERIOUS BUSINESS!
[18:28] <KickstarterMB> https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/521277495/el-dorado-maya-playing-cards-relaunch?ref=category
[18:29] <KickstarterMB> The first card porn to actually get funding, along with dice and past dice card hue. In gold foil and color variety as well
[18:29] <KickstarterMB> https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/320299580/gracia-playing-cards-gold-foil?ref=category
[18:29] <KickstarterMB> a less successful playing card kickstarter, but just as blingful in love
The first two being Playing Card projects. Self explanitory, and a good glance at how such projects are faring. Maybe I recall some more failure's as of late? But that's of the top of my head, vaguely wise.
[18:30] <KickstarterMB> while I glanced at the playing card spam, found some weird unusual projects. Well, a couple, but still
[18:31] <KickstarterMB> https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/poots/kingdom-death-monster-15?ref=category
[18:31] <KickstarterMB> At first glance, had an extra typo on bakcers, and an overly long 'thank you' video saying 'thankthankthank you' like film credits
[18:32] <KickstarterMB> ... And an appeal on a kickstarter update for more funding and such? Yeah...
[18:32] <KickstarterMB> -
[18:33] <KickstarterMB> Overall, looks real interesting at a glance, I'd say. For a glance of a card game based civilisation survival game?
Note, that this project is apparently an expansion update/request, and looks okay? For a card based 'civilisation survival/monster' game?
[18:35] <KickstarterMB> second card game, maybe? A "World Council" game, that's... Like a kind of XCOM Dwarf Fortress, with an AI like trailer
[18:35] <KickstarterMB> https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1723848355/the-world-council?ref=category
[18:35] <KickstarterMB> sadly, trailer had less mix of 'pitch' and 'appeal', more 'teaser' like
[18:36] <KickstarterMB> and measured in hong kong like cash measurement -
[18:36] <KickstarterMB> but apparently met it's goal mark, so no worries?
[18:37] <KickstarterMB> glance wise. It's "First to win, at expense of others. But don't doom the world while you're at it"
[18:37] <KickstarterMB> And a promise for 'cooperation', bad leaders/plans, and global destruction. So likely to be hilarious, potential wise. Kiiinda uncertain on how it'd pan out though?
Pitch wise, I feel a bit less... Certain, over the game, over the other projects. But seems valid, if you don't mind 'Hong Kong' currency and such.
[18:39] <KickstarterMB> Next up, a game, card/board game? About language, of all things
[18:39] <KickstarterMB> https://www.kickstarter.com/project...e-about-language-and-how-it-dies?ref=category
[18:39] <KickstarterMB> At a glance, hella funded, and had a 'teaser' and 'appeal' to it, trailer wise video wise
[18:40] <KickstarterMB> And can apparently not require a GM, supposedly. Dunno how it could roll, but maybe a good unique exercise in how language influences a society?
[18:41] <KickstarterMB> overall, looks like langcong porn, really
And by 'language porn', I mean it. As in, the sort of 'game' where players geek out on language history, without a Game Master in hand/sight...
[18:41] <KickstarterMB> another hella funded project. But apparently at a glance, a dungeon crawler card game?
[18:41] <KickstarterMB> https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/nskngames/shadowscape?ref=category
[18:42] <KickstarterMB> Looks alright? But bar that, and potential for co-op or rival battles? Trailer's brief as hell
[18:43] <KickstarterMB> Overall, trailer feels 'meh', really. But it's hella backed, so can't complain on the figures
Of the top of my head, it's 'something dungeon crawler'. And you can't go wrong with board game dungeon crawlers, or card based dungeon crawlers, really.
Now, unto thee, some horrors...
[18:43] <KickstarterMB> Next up, the leech of Threes. 2048, turned into a board game
[18:43] <KickstarterMB> https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/vivify-entertainment/2048-the-board-game?ref=category
[18:44] <KickstarterMB> You know it's sad when what feels like an overtly simplified sollitaire has turned into a board game
[18:44] <KickstarterMB> I'd say more, but that's when it's a 2048 on tragedy. And spoiler, I bought a 3DS version of the game over Threes, huehuehue~
Oh, and bai the way. 2048 and many derivatives are totally free. So check it out! (If you don't mind playing at the expense of Threes)
[18:45] <KickstarterMB> next up my glance list, is something that I can't help BUT comment upon, due to similar naming on a certain 'most historical disappointment' game
[18:46] <KickstarterMB> Gentlemen? No Maan's Sea. In no way going maan on No Man's Sky
[18:46] <KickstarterMB> https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1088407196/no-maans-sea?ref=category_ending_soon
[18:46] <KickstarterMB> No video, likely photoshopped background, and barely a cent in funding bar five dollors. Let's see how baad this kickstarter is
[18:47] <KickstarterMB> video below the campaign... Aaaaaaaaand looks like it's... A very bad sailing simulator that looks like it came out of a training project
[18:47] * MereSoul blinks
[18:47] <KickstarterMB> With barely ANY ability to dodge bullets, sod it. No practical ability, slow turning, est
[18:48] <KickstarterMB> ... Yeah, at a glance, looks reeaall bad...... And an ending where you had to reverse into a port?
[18:49] <KickstarterMB> ... Good thing anyone with sanity did NOT backed this hell, for no maan will have the sanity to fund such a disappointment
[18:49] <KickstarterMB> But hey, at least it's honest. Honest!
And I mean it, it's honestly, a baad game.
And another honest statement, I've totally nominated "No Man's Sky" for the title of 'Most Historical Disappointment', cause Steam needs a Rhaspberry award. Despite it, I've only gave it that custom award to fill my 'award' list on a historical event. And for all I know, I'd still could enjoy it in my own way, despite the venomous response that can be heard online, or it's massively negative review score.
Eh, moving on before I go into rant category...
[18:49] <KickstarterMB> next, a homage to classics that's apparently got a 'heart' icony on it, and just more than a quarter of it's funding goal, with 5 or so days to go
[18:50] <KickstarterMB> https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/880857063/space-child?ref=category_ending_soon
[18:50] <KickstarterMB> I can tell you right now, it's asking for so little? And already looks to be more fun than the previous horror I mentioned
[18:50] <KickstarterMB> ... At a glance, maybe it's maybe... A bit toooo repetitive, and not gameplay-ey catchy. But overall, not bad for a low request project?
[18:51] <KickstarterMB> only bane, is the trailer is just a full on gameplay playthrough, and no 'teaser' or 'appeal' to it
[18:51] <KickstarterMB> oh, and it has a demo, apparently
[18:52] <KickstarterMB> ... Oooh, and the "I am disabled" card is at hand as well... Overall, sadly not much thought on selling it, bar pure nostalgia. Probably won't make it, maybe? But still, at least it's asking for so little, for a change...
[18:53] <KickstarterMB> And maybe a 'bit' better than some of the other horrors of such tier of games
Disability card aside, and a vastly low funding request... Personally, looks more friendly a pitch. Just maybe/probably not selled right, is all. But at least it has more heart and feel like it could be 'fun', compared to... Other, horrors.
[18:53] <KickstarterMB> another horrible kiiickstartre... Yeah, for a daily dose that's a mix of bad RPG Maker game, and bad project naming...
[18:53] * Aleh looks at the kickstarter.
[18:53] * Aleh shakes his head.
[18:53] <KickstarterMB> I present to thee, "Project 1"
[18:54] <KickstarterMB> https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/103483235/project-1-0?ref=category_ending_soon
[18:55] <KickstarterMB> ... But yeah, Project 1. RPG Horror, in all the wrong systems. Better of free than asking for more than 100$ in cash
[18:56] <KickstarterMB> only mild catchy thing out of Project 1, is MAYBE the music, but it's so ill fitting, really. And uncertain on it's originality really
Still, Project 1 is perhaps, the worst way to do a kickstarter. Unlike say, LISA (that got away with a unique style/art and soul to it.) Project 1 is 'RPG Maker' esque, in all it's horror.
Fun fact/tip; if you're going RPG Maker, there's only one way to really sell well. That's, get Original assets in sprites/music, or GTFO.
[18:56] <KickstarterMB> https://www.kickstarter.com/project...-role-playing-game-i?ref=category_ending_soon
[18:56] <KickstarterMB> Or "How to build an RPG in Unity, as a Programmer, for Dummies?"
[18:57] <KickstarterMB> Despairate wannabe developers have made it a success. Thought a bit negative on the image glance, but it's looked... A bit better
[18:58] <KickstarterMB> Sadly, not for those who want to think of developing on Unreal Engine, but still!
Another fun fact, accidentally mislinked it in the IRC
And still, not useful for Unreal Engine, people who at a glance may not want to make a game in C#, est. But that's when I go all developer ranty, really.
[18:58] <KickstarterMB> And last, but not least. Least I hope it ain't sued by Ubisoft.
[18:59] <KickstarterMB> https://www.kickstarter.com/project...tor-soundtrack-album?ref=category_ending_soon
[18:59] <KickstarterMB> Or the Rayman music collection edition
[19:00] <KickstarterMB> With a 'please support this arrange' edition, with a sort of 'friendly appeal' to it, in multiple arranges of Rayman 1 music. The sort of thing that feels more Rayman for...
[19:00] <KickstarterMB> Oh, and a request for an even bigger Orchestra for a more epic arrange album, apparently?
[19:01] <KickstarterMB> At the very least, if Ubisoft nabbed that sort of trailer for a 'feel' for another Rayman sequel, it'd at least feel like it had even more soul than it did, just sayin'
[19:02] <KickstarterMB> -
[19:02] <KickstarterMB> At the very least, it's gotten me into wanting to listen to Rayman for a little bit. And that's me for what I had on Kickstarter at least...
-
And bar really getting me to listen to Rayman while I write this intro post, I guess that's it?
Oh, and before I forget, I totally stumbled upon this project while hearing from certain youtube commenters and such.
https://www.kickstarter.com/project...gue-road-a-roguelike-turn-based-strategy-game
Can't comment much, due to not really following on the whole project in glancey detail. But at a glance, gives me 'Fearless Fantasy' vibes, and you're like, a Plague Doctor. With quasi Dark Souls-esque stats with a 'Souls' stat for MP.
Past that, came alpha trailer, and pretty good 'Fearless Fantasy' esque art, along with a vision for long term development in game. So all's well?
Anyway, I'll leave my commentary (90% gleamed from QQ's IRC, for a change.) But eh, maybe in future, there's another project worth a care.
And no way, am I wasting time on Gofundme, or Fig (that's still new in the latter, and former I'd hedge a bet is likely filled with even more crap than Kickstarter.)
