• The site has now migrated to Xenforo 2. If you see any issues with the forum operation, please post them in the feedback thread.
  • Due to issues with external spam filters, QQ is currently unable to send any mail to Microsoft E-mail addresses. This includes any account at live.com, hotmail.com or msn.com. Signing up to the forum with one of these addresses will result in your verification E-mail never arriving. For best results, please use a different E-mail provider for your QQ address.
  • For prospective new members, a word of warning: don't use common names like Dennis, Simon, or Kenny if you decide to create an account. Spammers have used them all before you and gotten those names flagged in the anti-spam databases. Your account registration will be rejected because of it.
  • Since it has happened MULTIPLE times now, I want to be very clear about this. You do not get to abandon an account and create a new one. You do not get to pass an account to someone else and create a new one. If you do so anyway, you will be banned for creating sockpuppets.
  • Due to the actions of particularly persistent spammers and trolls, we will be banning disposable email addresses from today onward.
  • The rules regarding NSFW links have been updated. See here for details.

Greetings fellow authors and viewers my apologies for diverting your attention away from your entertainment but I have a query that I would like an answer to, in this age of internet censorship where the slightest NSWF content is purged at the discretion of the higher ups such as the current Imgur purge is QQ protected from things like that?
If you are also not aware the EARN IT ACT is currently being rolled out by congress and my question is still the same is QQ protected from things like that, QQ and other sites like it are the few remaining bastions of content for people like us on the web and I would just like to stay informed.

I imagine they could move host countries if EARN IT passes, the bigger problem is with imgur and other image hosts deleting their images, it's going to leave a lot of dead links everywhere.

The EARN IT ACT seems that is going to be another idiocy, that is going to backfire, and later repealled, like all those anti-porn acts inpulsed by morality in media.

tl;dr not really insofar as QQ keeps operating in the same country

If the laws change for the worst, it has to move and ownership might also get complicated as American citizens with foreign assets are still subject to American laws. It is possible to mess around with contracted companies and whatnot to handle that without fully changing ownership, international corporations routinely do so to handle conflicts in the laws of various countries (ask a lawyer for how).

That ultimately begs the question of what happens if all countries screw their laws up? One first option would be to repackage it as a distributed (I'm not aware of any currently maintained project, it'd have to be homebrew) or federated forum (think a set of NNTP mirrors hosted by trusted staff), which would be quite a bit of work (and cannot be done without QQ admin collaboration due to the sheer amount of data) but would represent the safest and most reliable option upon completion.

Another would be to remove QQ from the clearnet, continue hosting it as a normal forum and erase traces of ownership.

In both cases the use of anonymization networks would be mandatory (unless you really want to get fucked I guess) in such a dark timeline.

Isnt the Earn It act basically judging others art based on their perpective and is not respecting freedom of speech and expression?

They allow gangs to groom innocent and vulnerable gangs
They allow karens and kevins to commit terrorism

But they want to spend money, ressources and time to bully artists and people who are enthusiat of art?

If they care about protecting children why dont they just use these money and resource to improve school security and give the poloce department more budget so that being a police officer can support a family which woild lead to allowing them to replace bad police with good ones and allow them to effort mental care for police so they dont become twisted due to their experiences.

After what's happening with the Internet Archive/Archive.org -- I hope so. The writing freedom here is great and it's not a pain to navigate like AO3.

Whats happening to the internet archive?
I'm pretty sure It got fucked over because copyright whining bitches didn't like that their books were on there for free.

So a lot of content got purged needlessly.

My only problem with ao3 right now is because I keep on getting fucked over by Chrome for its zoom in feature

We're pretty small fry in the grand scheme of things. As long as our community doesn't blow up over night and become the next something awful or reddit, which considering how centralized the internet has become I don't see happening ever happening again, or if don't we become really controversial like Kiwi Farms, were not in any trouble. A lot of times these crusades against NSFW websites is less about actually getting rid of the content and more about either making the content harder to monetize, which is something we don't have to worry about, or about shutting down controversial websites like the aforementioned Kiwi Farms or for example 8chan or Coal Tax.
