Prologue: You Found Me

Is it wrong to try to pick up girls in a dungeon?

You know, an endless labyrinth divided into multiple floors and filled with scary monsters?

My expectation was to join a group of fearless adventurers seeking wealth and fame.

I was going to go off to battle as soon as my guild registration was complete.

Then, conveniently, I would meet a beautiful girl and protect her from an onslaught of monsters with only the sword in my hand.

The air fills with her echoing screams, the monsters' roars, and the clash of my sword as we face certain death.

In the end, all that remains is her sitting on the floor beside my cool, heroic self, standing over the remains of all the monsters I slew.

Her cheeks blush as she looks upon me with beautiful, sparkling eyes. Love is about to bloom.

Then sometimes I'd go to the local watering hole to boast about my day's adventures to the cute barmaids and make some new allies.

Sometimes I'd protect a young elfess from a few of my more barbaric comrades.

Sometimes I'd help a struggling Amazonian warrior by letting her join my party.

Sometimes I might be seen getting friendly with other girls, causing some drama and jealousy.

Sometimes this, sometimes that, sometimes everything all at once.

I want to grow up a bit, become the kind of hero men dream about in tales of adventure.

I want to be more than friends with cute girls.

I want to meet the ladies of all the different races.

Isn't having these slightly corrupt and naïve thoughts part of being a young man?

Is trying to meet girls in a dungeon,' no, a harem', really that wrong?

Conclusion: I was wrong.

Urrrroooooarrrrrrr!

Aiiiiiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeee?!

I'm about to die courtesy of these slightly corrupt and naïve thoughts.

Basically, I'm being chased by the bull-headed man-beast, the Minotaur. I'm going to be devoured by a monster that my measly Level One attacks can't even scratch.

I'm dead. So, so dead.

Where did my dumb, despicable delusions get me?

To the minotaur's dinner plate, that's where. I'm such an idiot. I was stupid to think I was destined to find my dream girl in a dungeon.

But now isn't the time for such laments. I have to escape!

"Hestia, Zeus, Athena! Anyone, save me!" I shout and pray to the gods in a desperate cry for help, and my prayer is heard.

"Young Hero of a different world, I, Athena, have heard your prayers. I grant thee a Minotaur." A soft woman's voice fills my head, but it overflows with divine power.

I feel my body become sluggish and weak, as if all my energy has been forcibly drained. However, I'm forced to turn around as an ear-splitting roar fills the dungeon around me, sending rocks and dirt from the rocky caverns around me to the ground.

The minotaur that was chasing me crashes headfirst into what can only be considered an impenetrable fortress of flesh and blood.

Urooooaaaaar!

A huge shadow falls over me, almost twice the size of the minotaur chasing me.

Thwack! The wet sound of flesh being severed by metal was all I heard.

Only then do I realize that the minotaur that was chasing me had stopped and had fallen to the dirt.

My head spins as I'm finding it hard to stay awake.

"Thank you, Goddess Athena," I barely manage to grumble out as I see the head of my attacker roll across the ground.

I lean against the wall of the dungeon to recover some of my strength in exhaustion, and the giant Minotaur sent by the goddess Athena does its best to stop me from falling, and its giant hand covers most of my back.

"Rest now, young Hero, I will protect you as my Goddess wills." The Minotaur grunts out and stands at the ready after lowering me to the ground against the wall.

Almost instantly, my fully drained vitality causes me to fall asleep.

-------------------------------

A vicious melee is being fought on the fifth floor of the dungeon. A colossal Minotaur is locked in a desperate struggle with a deft and lightning fast girl that skillfully deflects the powerful blows of the giant minotaur. She had instantly attacked the creature upon seeing it.

Upon catching a glance of a thin young boy lying motionless on the ground behind the minotaur, her attacks grew that much fiercer, but the minotaur, created by the Goddess Athena to protect the young hero, would not be felled so easily.

Gruoooaaaar!

Clang! Boom!

"You will not hurt him!" The Minotaur roars, its body covered in slashes and deep wounds.

It falls to one knee, barely deflecting a slash from a beautiful girl who had golden blonde hair, deep blue eyes, and an almost unmatched feminine beauty. She wore blue clothing and had a small silvery breastplate.

"What are you talking about, monster?" The Girl pauses her attack, only to deflect a heavy slash from the Minotaur's golden axe, sending the weapon flying into the wall, where it digs deeply in.

"You will not hurt the Hero!" The Minotaur roars in one final act of protecting the boy in his charge. It jumps forward with reckless abandon, trying to tackle the girl who had overwhelmed it with skill and speed.

"Hero? What are you talking about?" The Girl asks in confusion, slipping her thin blade into the minotaur's exposed neck. Blood fountained out as the minotaur wobbled backwards, his throat filling with blood.

"I'm sorry...Hero..I did what I could..." The Minotaur wobbled over to Bell, who was in a deep slumber. It fell over him, doing its best to shield the boy with its body from its attacker.

And with that final act of protection, the Minotaur died protecting the sleeping Bell with the last of its strength.

The girl, who had never seen a Minotaur act like this before, could only look on in confusion as not only did the Minotaur not explode and leave a stone, but it had also done its best to protect the boy.

Every time she had attempted to get closer and save the boy she saw lying on the ground, the Minotaur would double its attempts at defeating her, saying strange things, like "You will not hurt the hero", and "Stay back", which was strange in itself as Minotaurs were beasts of instinct, and there were no records she knew of that spoke of a talking Minotaur. Much less one protecting an adventurer.

She did know of talking monsters, but Minotaurs were not one of them.

Nggghh.

The grumbling of someone waking up from deep sleep tore the girl from her thoughts. It sounded from underneath the Minotaur's corpse. It was followed almost immediately by a high-pitched, almost feminine scream of fright.

"Are you okay?" The girl ran over, using her strength to push the dead minotaur off the boy.

---------------------------------

The first thing that I wake up to is a bloody Minotaur in my face, and the shout of a most charming girl's voice. I have to say, I let out the most chilling scream.

Mere moments later, the girl pushes the dead Minotaur off of me, and I find myself face-to-face with the most beautiful, world-endingly perfect girl I have ever seen. Even up to this moment, my fantasies had never shown me someone so stunningly beautiful.

"Uhhhh...Hi," I say, lost in looking up at her face.

She has a soft expression on her porcelain face, and her blue eyes are full of concern.

"Hi," She returns the greeting simply.

We stay like that for a few moments just looking at each other, before I realize I'm staring, and quickly look away.

"I'm glad you're okay. Take some time to gather yourself," She says, getting up and resting against the wall, sword sheathed and arms crossed. It seems she took the role of lookout.

I take a few more moments to stop my head from spinning, and I look at my hand that is stinging viciously. On the back of my right hand, in a tattoo, is a bull's head. It's faded, but it gives off a very faint whitish light, as if its energy was spent. I don't want to jump to conclusions, but perhaps?

No, I can't be thinking about that right now.

"Who are you?" I ask, rising up from the ground. My legs are still a bit wobbly, and I'm still a bit spent, but not to the same extent as earlier.

"Ais Wallenstein. Loki Famillia." She answers simply, and I can't help my shock.

The Loki familia? One of, if not The Greatest famillias in the entirety of Orario! How could I have forgotten the Ais Wallenstein? Silly me.

"Thank you, Miss Wallenstein." I manage to grumble out, as fear begins to cloud my mind, fear and shame.

I'm not okay. Definitely not okay.

My heart feels like it could explode and fall to pieces any second. That is not okay.

My cheeks blush as I gaze upon her with sparkling doe eyes.

Love is about to bloom. No, love is erupting within me.

My soul is gone, it's hers now.

Is it wrong to try to pick up girls in a dungeon?

After further review, I was not wrong.

I found the girl in the dungeon. Well no.

She found me.
