It is common knowledge that the Dursleys despise anything unnatural or unusual. This was the reason they moved to Little Whinging- after looking through the rest of the country, they decided it was the most normal community they could find- None of those weird children with all those piercings, no records of strange occurrences in it's past, and plenty of nice, normal families they could mingle with.

If the Dursleys had known the truth about Little Whinging, they would never have come within a hundred miles of the city limits. Little Whinging and the surrounding areas was, in fact, the home to the largest demonic cult in the country. Making up roughly 95 percent of the city's population, the cult of demon worshippers had decided long ago- when Christianity was making it's first fiery incursion into the country- that discretion was the better part of valor, and it would be safer to go underground, oftentimes literally. The town they formed after their mass exodus from the cities where their practices were well known had grown over the centuries into the city now known as Little Whinging, with the cultists rarely leaving their safe haven. When people started moving to the city, the cultists started up an elaborate facade of being 'Perfectly normal' so that the crusaders wouldn't know to target them. That act had been handed down throughout the generations of families living in the city, and was now the first tenant of their order- 'Let none know of the practices of our order- One misspoken word could destroy us all' was the modern form.

Normally, this wouldn't be important. The Dursleys would never find out about their neighbors unusual religion, and the cult would never see the light of day after a stray nuclear missile wiped the entire city off the face of the earth in 2015. However, As the Dursleys were to soon find out, things don't always go as normally as you think they will.

Especially when a slightly senile old wizard placed a certain child on Number 14 privet drive, rather then number 4...
