On a Pale Horse (Umamusume/Youjo Senki)

I mean. Isn't that just like The Salaryman again?
Not really, like Salaryman is in it to win it. To prove his existence, that he's special in some ways. In Uma Musume term, he probably wouldn't be too out of place with the average Uma Musume who dreams of winning races and be at the top of the running sport food chain.

This one is over all of that, she's in it for the money now. But at least this time she got friends and family to share it with.

Once she saw what her trainee had put together at what seemed to be a whim, Hana ran out of avenues to dissuade her trainee from challenging the Tiara races as well.
venue? Singular?
*marches out with prop rifle singing war time music*

"Oh yeah…she still gets money for second place, right? So she's probably okay then."
The difference in Umas that grew up with her and tracen Umas with their expectations is great.

Now that she thought about it, she should probably talk with normal people more often, lest the athletic obsession warp her outlook too much.
I don't know Shiro, is Tensei really that normal?

Also, I was actually rereading this wonderful fic earlier, and was going to call out that Shirogane was hanging out at the stump, and lo and behold, it gets backed up in today's chapter!

In many ways, being more officially on a trainer's team did not change things for Shirogane.

She still attended classes as she had previously, ate at the cafeteria, her apartment, or at the stump, and she still continued her morning warm ups with Suzuka-san, though that was less due to any explicit decision on either of their part, and more just falling into a habit once they crossed paths several times.

Avenues is correct. "A way of approaching a problem or making progress towards a solution"

Hee, finally they've decided Shirogane is a ghost that came from the stump of despair. Also, wow, even finger guns were enough to set her off. Someone's gonna do something stupid one day like play a video with gunfire in it and be very shocked when she leaps across the table at them.

I do find it slightly funny that Shirogane is consistently coming in second place now that she's facing actual competition. This isn't going to do anything to stop her from thinking she's unimpressive.
Now have Shirogane run a race with Nice Nature and both 2nd and 3rd place will be locked down.

I meant in how he always got second place, and it kinda messed with his mentality and perception of ability.

"I think she'll be just fine," Akira reassured her, noting that while Suzuki-san looked disappointed, she was not terribly distraught either. "Shirogane-san is pretty hard to upset." Though you really did not want to manage that.

I'm just thinking that while she may not win G1s, her being super consistent in getting a placing makes her an unofficial gatekeeper. The goal line of even thinking about winning a G1 is beating Shiro in a race. If you can't do that, good luck winning against her peers. The sheer amount of races she will be going for would be hilarious too. Nice Nature's own career proves that consistent results across a long career can also get you a large amount of prize earnings.

"Urara! Remember your training!"

Pasa and King Halo were quite absorbed in the race, yelling advice excitedly, though from Shirogane's own experience, it was likely in vain, given the noise generated by the numerous runners, though with the lesser crowd this time, there was perhaps some chance that their fellows could hear them.
Lol, King Halo has adopted her first daughter. Haru's optimism even when not winning will really rub off on her.

Yes, salaryman did broke because of it. But I don't think Shirogane will, she went through it before and didn't care for the experience. Hence why she's mostly ambivalent about breaking other Uma Musume dreams, and just in it for the money rather than for any recognition or ego-reinforcing reason.

There was something nostalgic about the schoolwork he described, and given he was older than her body and clearly fairly intelligent, some of what they talked about helped with her own studies.

...I see what you did here.
The +Wit support event strikes again!

Shiro needs to adopt and train urara. She's got the energy, with proper form
She might actually be able to win a few!
Not train, that results in a distracted Urara wandering off when she gets bored. Shirogane needs to teach her more "games" like the hill running game that Urara learned from Shiro. I'm currently blaming that "game" on why Urara wasn't out of breath in the race. It was just her bad running form that held her back this time.

Swift Yuno and Akira have been together for how long 3 years , they start dating in Middle School and now they are in high school and still going strong
Glad to see Shiro winning money get put into good use, new air conditioner , new tv , also pay the Umeki's kids as waitress
Tensei my man the best way through a man heart is through his stomach.

So, how would they measure that in this universe? A horse is a pretty long animal, but humanoids are not noted for being that long while standing up, barring porn stars.
Umas (at least from what I remeber of the game, been a bit) both A) have a decently long tail and B) will bend forward at the waist almost 90 degrees when racing. Combine both of those and they actually do take up a decent length of track, if not as much as an actual horse.

What that implies about Uma biomechanics I am no way qualified to speculate, but I'd wager its pretty odd.

If you want to checkvyourself I'm sure you could find some races from the anime/game on youtube easily enough

Undying Will...The Dauntless/Relentless Silver...Constant Second...Silver Comet.... Unyielding March... Tectonic Phenomenon..... Double Silver... Silver Blood /Heart...The Tax Man... Silver Tax....Bronze Eater....All Placer (since she always places in races).

needs more.

The Salary man always got silver in most things he tried right???

Fun chapter to read and it adds more to the mythos of the pale runner.

I can see her convincing her trainer to allow her to race every week, even in minor races, that would give her a lot of experience and make her the terror of the middle/lower ranked races.

I do hope her analytical skill are recognized soon and perhaps earn an extra spot as a trainer later even if she just starts as an analyst and planning strategies for her fellow students.
I do se her as a famous trainer later in her life.

I looked for polish popular songs and they do have a very diverse styles of songs.
Most popular Polish song from each year (based on YT views 1974-2022)

The I looked for war songs and they have some that remind me of Katyusha
Polish war songs

Getting a boy in her apartments along with the ghost rumors might earn her a reputation, and the Umas might get used to gossip about her since she seems to be one of the few ones never or almost never affected by them.

Hoping to see more of the point of view of others about Shirogane, its always fun to see how other see her reactions and antics.

I do hope she gets to sing this one sooner or later even if its in french,

J'en ai marre

Debuting early, Constantly racing, never seeming to tire or be injured, knows what they are going to do after racing, already has a stock portfolio...and on top of all that, it looks like she's already seeing a guy. Truly, She is setting one hell of a punishing pace for anyone seeking to go by her example; It's like she's at the finish line before you even knew there was a race.

I recently watched <100 Meters> on Netflix, and I think it would be funny to see Shiro as Kaidou—constantly finishing in second place in nearly every race until the most important ones. I really want her to win the Sextuplet Crown. She needs to go down in legend.
