Signing up to the forum with one of these addresses will result in your verification E-mail never arriving. For best results, please use a different E-mail provider for your QQ address.
  • For prospective new members, a word of warning: don't use common names like Dennis, Simon, or Kenny if you decide to create an account. Spammers have used them all before you and gotten those names flagged in the anti-spam databases. Your account registration will be rejected because of it.
  • Since it has happened MULTIPLE times now, I want to be very clear about this. You do not get to abandon an account and create a new one. You do not get to pass an account to someone else and create a new one. If you do so anyway, you will be banned for creating sockpuppets.
  • Due to the actions of particularly persistent spammers and trolls, we will be banning disposable email addresses from today onward.
  • The rules regarding NSFW links have been updated. See here for details.

Here we go again.

There's times when you ponder the wisdom of moving out to the boonies for a job.

The spotty phone service, narrow roads, small stores, non-existent night-life, and overly superstitious locals don't exactly provide much incentive.

But then, a job's a job, and you'll take what you can get in this economy.

And the view isn't anything to sneeze at either. The Post might not pay a lot, but your coworkers (all two of them) are locals, who know the land like the back of their hand. And more importantly to your salary, they were able to point you in the direction of a nice and cheap place to stay. It's a little cabin tucked up on the mountain, away from the three populated streets that make up what one could charitably refer to as the village. It's not exactly the most convenient location, but the old men at the office know who owns it, and brokered out a cheap rent for you.

And again, the view isn't anything to sneeze at.

You take another sip of your beer, as the sun turns the sky a riot of orange and purple. A cool breeze makes the leaves rustle, and you can hear some birds chirping in the distance.

The whole thing just gives you a feeling of peace and tranquility.

Yeah, you left everything you've ever known for the sake of a job you don't really see yourself caring too much about. But hey, maybe it won't be so bad?

There's still a little bit of light left, before the sun completely sinks below the horizon though. Maybe you should do something?

[ ] You officially start your job tomorrow, so you suppose there's nothing wrong with making an early night of it.
[ ] Take a walk in the woods. All this green is still pretty amazing to a city boy like you.
[ ] Go into 'Town' and buy some groceries. You don't really have anything apart from instant-noodles in the cupboards right now.

Growing up, you had always though it a little unrealistic that characters in games would be blocked by walls of trees, or waist high bushes.

Having tried to wade through a knee high set of shrubs while avoiding saplings and trying not to be tripped up by tree roots, you have a new appreciation for roads. And a few new scratches on your jeans.

After that learning experience, you decide to just follow the dirt path behind your home. It's a little narrow at places, but the trees don't actually feel like they're actively trying to fight your progress now. For a while, it's just you and the trees, as the sky darkens.

And you walk. And walk some more.

Just how far does this path lead? It's slowly working it's way up the mountain, that you can tell. But it feels like you've been walking for ages, and apart from branches and leaves, you haven't seen anything. Aren't paths supposed to lead somewhere?

Well, maybe it's just impatience on your part. You've been reading recently that the speed of modern life has apparently made people very used to immediate satisfaction, making pursuits that take time to receive any sort of gratification seem relatively unpopular. But then, maybe that's some psychobabble.

You check your watch. You've been walking for just under twenty minutes.

... OK, maybe there is something to that ba-

"CHEEEEEEN! COME HERE CHEEEEEEEEEN!"

And suddenly you don't care about that. That was girl's voice. No, even better. It was a woman's voice.

Not only a possible social contact but a romance interest.

Immediately, you slap yourself in the face. Geeze, what was up with that? You shouldn't be objectifying women, let alone ones you haven't even met. Alright.

You take a deep breath.

Time to go meet a local.
