Potential Rule 8 Question: Regarding the Recent Anti-NSFW Content Bans...

I don't think this helps people outside of the USA.
Porn needs to move too crypto as should more people IMHO.
The solution is to force Visa/MasterCard to abide by the law: if porn/anything else is legal they have no right to refuse payments.

If the law allows them this: the law has to change.

As is now, a small group of people, above any national law, without any legitimacy, established their own shadowy de-facto laws.

Even more reason to bypass them via crypto or alternate payment processors and infrastructure.

It is not the 1980s anymore, tech has advanced a lot.

alternate payment processors and infrastructure.
This i agree with.

This is nonsense.

Crypto is the worst of the options that would work. It opens up a whole system of easy abuse. As you put it:
It is not the 1980s anymore, tech has advanced a lot.
This is also true of bad actors looking to empty your wallet which, due to lack of regulation, you have no recourse for. And this is one of dozens immense drawbacks to crypto.

What we need is alternate payment systems and infrastucture. Hell, id take couriered cash over crypto any day.

No, if it accepted worldwide customers it'd be a lot more than that. Visa/MasterCard debanked anything that touches the Australian prostitution industry, for instance, causing major headaches.

(Prostitution is legal in Australia.)

Bad actors can steal your money either way.

Especially with the digital ID push we have now.

Voices can be mimicked, phones with e-tokens can be taken over, and so forth.

I agree completely about the cash.

Too bad there is an active war on cash going on now.

And also the majority of lewd stuff does not have a cash option since you'd have to order it for physical delivery from another country or it is a purely digital good or service.
I mean, around here the courier agencies have this thing called "forced payment on delivery" but I doubt that will work with packages form japan, even worse they have to pass customs and you are forced to give the shipper temporary power of attorney and provide them with an invoice for the goods in some cases to get the stuff released.

Don't get me started on the loops I had to go through to get my first kindle...
I don't wanna think how getting a lewd Daki cover would have gone with that version of the system.

Oh, there are already alternatives, like direct bank transfer, but banks can be idiots and get shamed or legally pressured, too.

And alternative payment processors would still be vulnerable to trash idiot groups of slacktivists and government idiocy.

Transferring cash to crypto stable coins and paying for lewd stuff is the closest to paying with cash.

Yes and no. They can take the money, sure, but if someone empties your bank account, at least in my country, banks are obligated to fix the mistake they made by letting someone access your account (Edit: additionally, trying to empty an account in the first place raises all sorts of red flags with a bank that usually cause them to delay any transfers until they can confirm its you). With crypto, the best you'll get is a polite go fuck yourself. So this response is reductive and inaccurate by way of ignoring context. But we're getting off topic.

We have a saying around here.

A bank will shit blood before it returns money.

That and the transfers will likely happen through various mules and go to a different country, it is very hard to deal with such problems.

Worse yet there were situations where people's taken over phones were even used to take out so called fast loans.

But yeah, let us get back on topic.

If cryptocurrencies actually worked as they were advertised, and weren't in fact little more than a total scam designed to let whoever runs the coin to pull the rug out of everyone at a moment's notice, this suggestion would have merit. Unfortunately as has been shown time and time again, that's all that cryptocurrencies are, so this is a terrible idea.

Nobody is forcing you to use crypto if you dislike it.
Not yet, anyways. As things are going it might become the only option.
Nor is this a thread about (baseless and fact free) crypto bashing.
For the moment it is one of the best anti-censorship payment mechanisms.CivitAI for example, as much a sI hate them, moves to using crypto to sell buzz and managed to stabilize their situation.

The Free Speech Coalition is gauging interest in forming a credit union for the adult entertainment industry.
I'd say it's gonna depend on how much start-up capital they have access to. If they don't have enough, their competitors might just try to bury them in legal costs until they go bankrupt. They could also run a smear campaign where they associate in people's minds the name of the new card with porn specifically, so that anyone who gets this card will be ashamed to let other people know he has one (specifically, wives will shame their husbands about it). Guys will still get the card, but it will be hard to generate widespread interest against this counter-signal of, "You only want that card so you can look at titties".

Gandhi said: First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win. But there is a case of survivor bias here. Not everyone wins.

One thing at a time. First let's help them get this thing started, then worry about what comes next.

It's the principle of the thing; more momenteum anywhere, especially within the heart of Western culture, can only be a net good as it spreads out.
And a finger in the face of the clowns in their home market, sure.

Doesn't help me with trash like the DSA and other idiot restrictions that affect me though.

Oh no, my friends found out I have the titty-card.

They won't look at me the same way, now that they know I like to look at titties.

How will I ever live this -- wait, they also like to look at titties. In fact we sometimes look at titties together.

Whew, thank goodness I'm a guy.
