Fuck it, this is happening.

First things first? I apologize for all of my other quests. Consider them dead. My motivation, as a whole, took a big hit when I had a bout of depression, and I can't seem to regain any enthusiasm for them. This quest, however? I swear to any and all gods that may or may not exist (And if they don't, then i swear on the unfathomable void that awaits the universe) that Quest shall not die. It might take me awhile to update, sometimes, but it won't die.

Second of all, I haven't actually read the LN's, just watched the Anime and read a lot of fanfics. I know the setting and quite a few characters, but quite honestly, not many fanfics get past the Three Factions Summit Arc. This quest starts in bit more than a year before canon, so I'm going to use the time from here to there to read up.

Lastly, updates'll come when they come but I'll try for at least once a week, if not every three days or so, but I usually can't keep that kind of pace up for long.

You are Hatake Kakashi, 15 years old. Throughout your life you've been called many things. Prodigy. Genius. Cold. Intimidating. Unsocial. Lazy. Pervert.

In all honesty, you don't give you a shit. You'd always had a hard time caring, finding others your age insufferable, and even the same with quite a few adults. The only person you really respected was your father. Who was now about 9 years dead. Yeah, if you had to choose a moment where everything had changed, that was probably it. And you didn't just mean the general uncaring attitude you now sported, either. After your dad died, you started...noticing things. Weird things.

The humanoid shapes flying over head at night, some with wings like a bird, others with wings like a demonic bat. The odd little creature here and there, that sometimes roamed the night, playing mischievous tricks. Some people seemed to give off an odd aura that others didn't seem to notice. Others who walked in odd flowing robes, covered in strange symbols, unnoticed by those around them.

Of course, none of that was so prominent or obvious to you as your newfound ability. The one you had awoken that day.
Bah, that didn't really matter. What mattered was the fact you had been accepted into your new school, one that you had chosen to try and get into for it's high standards. Maybe people there wouldn't be so idiotic. They had to have passed the tests too, right?

Well, you thought, opening up your new volume of Icha Icha as you walked along, At least Kuoh Academy will probably have some decent eye candy.

This was supposed to have like, 2-3 more scenes but was getting long. Plus, you have a fuck ton of things to vote on, at the moment.

001

The day started fairly normally.

Wake up. Take shower. Put on fresh clothes. Make a simply breakfast. Grab Icha Icha. Grab journal.
So boring.
It was the same old routine that you'd become used to over the last few years. It was all kind of mechanical, at this point. Just another boring facet of another boring day.

Hopefully, that would change soon.

Today was to be your first day Kuoh Academy, one of the most prestigious schools in the area. It used to be an all-girls school, but had recently become co-ed. Still, it kept its high standards for enrollment, so hopefully the people there wouldn't be as dull as your usual contemporaries.
They were slow, and weak, and oh so colorless.
The last few years had been...trying, to say the least. When your father died, you'd been hit hard. Your mother had died in childbirth and your father was your only family, and his loss had left you, a 6 year old child at the time, all alone. So, for awhile, you'd closed yourself off, delving into your studies even more than usual and ignoring those around you.
Tou-san! Why did you leave?!
Of course, that might have had a lot to do with the fact that the reading material your father had left you was very...intriguing.
Your small frame, clutching a leather bound book to your chest as you sniffled.
At first, when you'd started seeing weird and odd things, you had been frightened. You could admit that. Who wouldn't be, when confronted with what should have been the impossible? And how were you supposed to know what was going on, when all of a sudden things would darken and a blade of light would appear in your hand? Or the various spirits you saw roaming around?
Oh so scary, but also oh so interesting.
Luckily, the books you had gotten had explained things.

Yokai. Monsters. Gods. Devils. Angels. Fallen. Magicians and Spirits and Sacred Gears and more! All of that existed in the world, hidden from the normal people around you. The information had been pretty basic, and you could admit to still not knowing much beyond them, but it had been enough.
No, no it wasn't. You needed more. Was this why tou-san was killed?
This new world had enraptured you and you'd delved into the 'other' books you're father had left. One's that explained Magic. Real, honest to Gods magic. Needless to say, your new interests had done wonders in improving your mood. However, it had resulted in you also drawing away from the normal world, finding it all bland and lifeless. Where was the wonder?

In other words, the regular, everyday world that most were accustomed too...was simply dull.

Sure, you had tried to make things exciting. You'd started practicing Martial Arts, and Swordsmanship, joining the relevant clubs for both But even there you had outpaced you fellow classmates, none being able to keep up with you. The only people able to give you half decent challenge there were the teachers and even then you beat them more often than not.
If you wanted to be part of that world, you needed to be stronger.
You sighed.

Why couldn't your father have left any books detailing how to get involved with the part of the world you were actually interested in? Most Yokai, if you even saw one, were quick to disappear and most Devils and Fallen used the skies if you even noticed them. The only plentiful creatures of any supernatural origin you could readily find were minor spirits and they weren't really good for any conversation.

At least you always had Icha Icha to keep you entertained. Truly, these books were a masterpiece.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The moment you stepped through the gates of Kuoh Academy you felt it. The slight, subtle brush of foreign energy, that momentarily took your breath away. But just for a moment, and after you were through the threshold and the feeling went away.
What?!
Still, there was no mistaking it. A barrier of some kind, to ward away any with ill intentions. Your knowledge of barriers was small, but you were skilled enough to get the gist of most it. Still, this was the first piece of true magic you had personally encountered, and you did not know how well the same could be said for any type of magic.

But that wasn't important. What was important was the fact that there was a clear sign of the supernatural world -you really needed a better name for that,- and that meant others like you. Perhaps, finally, finally, you would find your way.
Finally, you could start getting answers.
Under your mask, you smiled and continued walking, ignoring the looks the students around you were giving you at the odd addition to the school uniform. Meh, they could suck it. Family tradition.
On your mothers side, apparently.
Finishing up the latest chapter in your book, you wordlessly took the chance to actually look up at the school in front of you.
latest

In front of the entrance was a fountain, pumping water continuously into the small pool beneath it. Around the fountain was a trimmed circle of grass. The building itself was tall, about three stories, with curved, arched windows at the bottom and long rectangular windows on the upper levels. Painted with a soft beige, with brickstone red trim it gave off a fairly warm and inviting feel, and you felt the sight subtly relaxing.

Huh. Well, whoever built it definitely knew their stuff.

Done taking it all in you shrugged and continued on your way. If you were correct, you should be exactly 10 minutes late for morning homeroom. Though it probably wouldn't be noted as it seemed you weren't the only one late today, probably a byproduct of it being the first day of school. Many had probably underestimated the amount of it would take them to get here or had gotten lost on the way.

Well, that couldn't be helped. You'd long ago learned that not many were as meticulous as you were, taking note of the many routes from your house to the school, the amount of traffic one would normally see at this time of day, or their average walking pace. All that and more had been take into account when you had left this morning and unsurprisingly, you had gotten here exactly when you wanted to.

Navigating your way through the hallways -already mapped and memorized before hand, when you'd gotten your hands on the public blueprints at the library- you couldn't help but muse on the idle thought that most would wonder why, if you were able to plan such things so well, you would plan to be late.

Honestly, the answer was quite obvious.

It was amusing.
Yes, so so amusing.
Opening the door to your homeroom class, you were met with the sight of a frowning, nondescript teacher and all but full classroom. It looks like you were the last one here.

The teacher adjusted his glasses as he scowled at you. "Your classmates were all kind enough to arrive on time, so you must be Mr. Hatake, I presume? You are late."

Lazily, book still open in one hand, you just looked at him as you formulated your reply.

[] "Maa, maa, sorry, but I got lost on the road of life."
[] "I'm sorry seneri. It won't happen again."
[] Write-in.

The teacher didn't even flinch at your reply, before he continued, still scowling. "That facemask of yours is also against the dress code. You will need to get rid of it."
Fuck no.
Still giving the teacher a flat stare, you said, "I'll have to deny that request sensei. Wearing a facemask is a time-honored family tradition, and to not do would be to disrespect our honor."

There was a snort from the back of the classroom as someone mockingly asked, "What, was your family a bunch of ninja or something."
Why yes, they were.
You simply turned your stare on the one who had spoken up, some nerdy looking guy with a shaved head. "Yes."

"Grk." That reply seemed to throw them off. Well, they'd asked.

The teacher -whose name you still hadn't gotten- sighed and pinched his nose. "You'll have to take that up with administration later, Mr. Hatake. I'll allow it for now, but please talk to Student Council before the day ends. Now, if you would, take a seat."

Sheepishly giving a small bow, you moved towards the only seat left, one near the back next to an unassuming brown haired boy. As you sat down, you almost gave a small jump. Before you had sat down, you hadn't felt a thing from your classmate, but now, so close, you could feel that he gave off an odd vibe.
Scales of blood, teeth of steel.
For the boy's part, he seemed to be looking around enthusiastically, taking special note of all the girls in class.
Pure, unbridled power. Death and destruction, on leathery wings of crimson.
Shrugging, you placed the thought as something for later and sat down.
DEATH! RUN AWAY AND DON'T LOOK BACK!
Settling in you listen along as the teacher explains how the next couple weeks will go. Inwardly, you stifle a groan. It appears that the first week not much will be happening in regards to school work, being used more for the new students to settle in. Most classes for today would go over the syllabus for the school year and then use the rest of the week to go over the basics. The basics you had memorized ages ago.

Luckily, next week would be when actual class work would begin, and you had high hopes that you might find it challenging for once. It was also the week when school clubs would be opening up and it was highly encouraged, though not mandatory, to join one.

Rolling your eyes as the teacher descended into useless rambling, you decided to examine the other boy next you. Brown, messy hair, a face that didn't particularly stand out beyond the lecherous expression it seemed to form, and a weak looking body. You had no idea why he gave off such an odd aura, or why you could only sense it when up so close. And he seemed to have no idea he even gave it off. Even you were aware of your 'presence,' the aura your magical power gave off. You usually endeavored to keep it hidden, as most spirits seemed to run off if you didn't.

Though, now that you thought about it, if there were people involved in the supernatural around here...did you want to stay hidden? What about your magic? Before now, you refrained from using it outside of your own house, but you knew enough to keep normal people from noticing minor uses. In fact, you had finished the last of books your father had left you a few nights ago, finally getting the hang of the Notice-Me-Not spell.

At that thought, you frowned.

You were out of magical tomes to go over, every book you had was now memorized. That meant your magical study was limited, unless you could get your hands on more. Somehow, you doubted you could go into a bookstore and get a book on 'real' magic. Besides that, the books you had mostly went over the basics and you couldn't ignore some of the notes your father had made.

Mostly, they had been slight alteration, to make the spells more efficient, but there a few notes, old and worn that had taken your notice. Hatake Sakumo had wondered if it was better to simply learn the basics and then build off of them on your own, rather than continue copying down and learning spells from a myriad of tomes. On one hand, the more advanced spellbooks would cover more advanced theories, allowing for one to use that knowledge in their own research. On the other, if you built upon the basics, and every other bit of knowledge you had was self created...you would know those theories and spells inside and out because you had created them.

Fingering your own spellbook, the journal in which you would write down your own personal spells and theories, you considered your options. Either way, at the moment you couldn't get your hands on any more spellbooks, but should you try and seek any out? And what to do about free you are with your magic at Kuoh?

Hide Magical Aura?
[] Yes
[] No

How free should you be with magic use?
[] As much as you can, though obviously you'll make sure to not let any of the mundane people around you see.
[] Maybe only a little bit here and there.
[] Don't use any magic at school.

How should your magical research continue?
[] Get your hands on more Spell Books as soon as possible.
[] You'll focus on building your own theories from the basics.
[] You'll mostly create your own spells and theories, but if you come across a spellbook, every little bit can help, right?

And of course, you first needed to decide where your research was even heading. If you had more spellbooks you could try and learn more spells, but you didn't at the moment. That meant you either had to create your own, or start modifying an existing one. Currently, you probably had the time for two projects…

You have two Research slots. Pick how you'll use them.
[] Create Basic to Average Level Spell (Write-in)
[] Modify a Spell you Already know. (Pick which one and how)

Shaking your head, you refocused just in time to hear the teacher finish. Looks like homeroom is over.

Meh. Might as well use the time to read more of your Icha Icha. And you could figure out what to do about the brown haired boy sitting next to you...
