Star Trek The Next Generation The Gift: A Star Trek SI

Nice chapter and I'm glad you kept the Dr. Who part, even if it doesnt become a full fledged story (though an earlier Doctor would have been preferred, especially one of the 'old'/pre-2005 Doctors. I can see most SI getting along with 3-6 and 8).
It is interesting that his Whoverse version is also a time lord. I wonder whether that had more of an effect on the Doctor than learning that he's a SI.

There's something that happens when he's with the 10th Doctor that he gains a sliver of "Time Lord Knowledge"----not full on like Donna did...but like .05 percent or less heh.

One day perhaps I'll post that story.

Chapter 98: Adam Into the Multiverse The Conclusion New
Paramount-SkyDance Own Star Trek. For Entertainment Purposes Only. Non-Profit.

Geordi....LaForge's visor was the cause of Worf's jumps in the episode. Somehow causing the jumps to...intensified by close proximity to the visor. But this hasn't been the case for me here. I'm jumping in spite of that...it has to do with the tachyons, I just don't know how or what. I know that there IS a quantum fissure. It needs to be closed, and it has to do with the tachyons...I'm also so very tired.

I thought it was my Enterprise-D...but it isn't. The headaches are at their strongest. I've a theory that they're biological warning sign of some kind, that I am not supposed to be doing this or experiencing this. Riker is standing in his customary spot, and Data is sitting at ops.

"Data, can you extend a warp field in the region where the tachyon cloud is?" I ask as I hover over his chair

"I believe I understand your line of thinking, Captain. Stand by." I watch as his fingers race across his console. Almost dancing. He taps one more button and I order him to activate the viewer. On the screen we see a silverish tear across the fabric of space. It begins to expand and suddenly...all the other realities begin to enter into ours.

"Data, what is happening?" Riker asks

"As the Captain has no doubt hypothesized, expanding a warp field around the tachyons has exposed the quantum fissure...making it visible to us, as well as allowing the other realities to enter into ours."

"Data, are the tachyons causing my jumps?" I ask

"It is highly likely sir. It is reasonable to assume that due to the high concentration of them in a multitude of realities...has caused the quantum fissure to be anchored to you. How or why? I do not know."

Q? No. He would gloat over this or appear to congratulate me over figuring this out. Aegis? I doubt it. Not their style. I don't know who or what is responsible for this still. We watch as hundreds of thousands of starship, space station, and just weird looking vehicles of all kinds begin popping into existence. It surreal to watch this live. I think I spot Red Dwarf....and is that Serenity???

"How many Data?" I ask

"There are over 250, 000 different variant ships in the sector now, and counting."

I think I spot the JLA Watchtower. What???? I exhale.

"Mr. Worf...open hailing frequencies please." I order

"Aye sir."

I pause before I make my address. I can't believe this is happening still.

"This is Captain...heh...this is Captain Adam Christopher Young of the Federation Starship Enterprise...that is, the Enterprise indigenous to this quantum reality. We've all encountered a quantum anomaly, where versions of me...seem to be jumping through various realities. We think we have found a way to return us all to our proper realities, but we need to find that ship which exhibits a certain quantum signature. Our Mr. Data will transmit that signature to you now." I place my hand on his shoulder

We transmit the signal and wait. It takes a few minutes as all the mass of ships figure out the signal. This takes longer since this is not a television show any more. I wait and then with relief I see my Captain Jean-Luc Picard as my head continues to pound.

"Captain, it would seem we have matched the quantum signature you have sent us." Jean-Luc says and I nod

"Our Data agrees." as I exchange a look with him

"I assume Ensign---excuse me, Captain Young you have the ability to match this and do what you need to return home?" Picard asks

"Yes sir---Captain. Data believes if the Captain pilots a shuttle with his home signature dialed in...he should be able to return back to point of origin." Riker replies

"Very good. Make it so. We'll be waiting for you Captain Young."

"Aye sir." I say out of habit and he smiles

"One last thing Captain Picard."

"Yes?"

"I would like to request the Shuttle Curie from your reality. We will have Data send over what needs to be programmed to your Data and Mr. LaForge, and the modifications need to be made from your side."

"Understood. Picard out."

The screen reverts back to the multitude of Enterprises as I turn to Will with affection and gratitude. One last thing to do.

"Computer confirm security authorization Young Alpha9898 Charlie."

"Authorization confirmed. Proceed."

"This is Captain Adam Christopher Young, I hearby promote Commander William T. Riker to Captain, with all the rights and privilege's thereof."

"Promotion confirmed."

"Computer transfer all command codes to Captain William T. Riker, authorization Young Alpha9898Charlie."

"Transfer complete. USS Enterprise NCC 1701-Delta is now under the command of Captain William T. Riker, effective this stardate."

I don't shake Will's hand, I go up and hug him.

"Congratulations Number One...however I suspect that your version of me will return when I go through the fissure...but I felt like this was right, just in case."

"Thank you sir...Adam."

"You deserve it Will, and thank you for everything. You are the finest first officer in the fleet...and an even better friend. Your pizza needs more oregano though, and more olive oil drizzle."

Will laughs.

Data reports that they've sent the correct shuttle and made the modifications to it. I sigh. It's finally time to go home. I nod and head to the turbolift and feel Deanna follow me as I knew she would.

"Shuttlebay One." I order and turn to her

"I don't have all of his memories, but if he's anything like me, I know that he loves you dearly, and always will."

"I know..." she says as she strokes my cheek

"I'm sorry, I wish we had more time...I..."

"It's okay Adam. You have become swept up in something bigger than us.."

I grab her hands and hold them tightly in mine.

"No. Nothing is more important or bigger than us. Nothing will ever be." we kiss

"I wish I could guarantee that he will be back..."

"I have faith, in you." she replies and I start to cry

Hand in hand we step out of the turbolift and head to the shuttlebay together. Geordi is there making final adjustments to the shuttle.

"Everything checks out sir. Good luck."

"Thank you Mr. LaForge."

I squeeze Deanna's hand one more time and let it go.

"Good Journey Imzadi." she says through tears

"He'll be back. I promise you." I reply fighting through mine

I head into the shuttle and like a seasoned pro begin inputting coordinates and making sure Data's programming is there, and it is of course. I hear the shuttle door close and the shields lower as I'm given the all clear to launch.

"Shuttle Curie, to Enterprise, requesting permission to depart."

"Request granted Curie. Good luck sir."

At first things are smooth and then I am rocked by a couple of phaser shots...that would be the Borgified universe's Riker trying to take me out. HELP USSSSSSSSSS!!! I'm so sorry Will...but you're not keeping me from getting back home.

"Computer evasive maneuvers, don't deter from the fissure. Take us straight in." I make adjustments so that Prime Me doesn't have control over the shuttle as I'm not there in my development yet.

I hear more phaser fire exchanged then a huge explosion---that would be that Enterprise being blown up. I'm sorry...I suddenly feel blurrrrrrrrrryyyyyyyy as my variants are beginning to reassemble as the timelines are repaired. My head sees a variety of flashes all of them confusing, exciting, and emotional....and then...

"Enterprise to Curie."

"This is Curie go ahead."

"Welcome home, Ensign."

"Thank you sir...it's good to be back. You have control Enterprise."

I dock in the shuttle bay and see Deanna there waiting for me. She knows that I have been through an ordeal but not the extent of it. I head to her and hug her. I start crying.

"Welcome home Adam."

The PTSD from that adventure will be quite the chat with the councillor.
Thanks for the chapter.
