• The site has now migrated to Xenforo 2. If you see any issues with the forum operation, please post them in the feedback thread.
  • Due to issues with external spam filters, QQ is currently unable to send any mail to Microsoft E-mail addresses. This includes any account at live.com, hotmail.com or msn.com. Signing up to the forum with one of these addresses will result in your verification E-mail never arriving. For best results, please use a different E-mail provider for your QQ address.
  • For prospective new members, a word of warning: don't use common names like Dennis, Simon, or Kenny if you decide to create an account. Spammers have used them all before you and gotten those names flagged in the anti-spam databases. Your account registration will be rejected because of it.
  • Since it has happened MULTIPLE times now, I want to be very clear about this. You do not get to abandon an account and create a new one. You do not get to pass an account to someone else and create a new one. If you do so anyway, you will be banned for creating sockpuppets.
  • Due to the actions of particularly persistent spammers and trolls, we will be banning disposable email addresses from today onward.
  • The rules regarding NSFW links have been updated. See here for details.

Sometimes, authors post links from outside to their QQ content, and we get a influx of new people hitting their profile, giving variations of "How does this site work", "I just want to read", "I can't see any of your stories", "hello", "Does this count as my one post"* if they didn't get verified properly.

*(It did not count as their one post.)

Instead of relying upon the author or lewd Samaritans to walk them through it, I was wondering about the feasibility of a requestable boilerplate post on a profile that stays at the top containing e.g. "If you can't see things, you need a post in a thread. For example, click this link to the Introductory thread and post "Arglblargle". If you still can't, click this link to an admin's profile and bribe them with cake pester them."

Is this feasible? Is it a Wait For XF2 (due in 2030) situation?

...Hmm. Okay. So.

There's no reason that should be the author's problem(s), you're right. There are threads for a few of these things, but, well.

Maybe creating a top-level "so you're new to QQ" type forum would be appropriate? Add an introduction post thread there, and a rough guide to the rest of the forum?

Some sort of top-of-page notice, that only shows up on profiles, and always does to until dismissed, might do the trick also.

The question I thought you were asking is what the "Information" tab on profiles is for. But that's for per-user, not about-the-site.
