they hear 'Knight Errant' and 'rapid-response trooper' and think it'll be like a Desert Wars sim.
Ooh, foreshadowing! This part gave me chills when I read it and then the giant bugs really nailed it later.expecting to find only some bugs and instead had found all the bugs
Novacoke, no?Even if they both said that she was flying high on enough novacake
teh, instead of the. Though I gotta say how nice it is to see "en masse" instead of "in mass"!
Being a lackey of The Man is steady work. Being a Shadowrunner is shitty life unless you're one of the very best.
I am writing a corpo fic precisely because nobody else writes corpo fics, and I thought it would be interesting to explore the POV of the other side. I mean, your shadowrunners have fought the goons of Knight Errant many a time, but have they ever wondered how those guys actually live? Even the supplements don't go into it much, so I have a rich field to speculate in.
I see what you did there.
... I don't. What do you mean?
CZ Delta is a character in Overlord
Didn't remotely get that far into Overlord, so, no idear.
<shrug> She's a side character. Not a huge deal.
especially everything that came in with the Awakening such as the return of magic and the metahuman variants like elves, dwarves, orks, and trolls. They were like the old Ku Klux Klan of the previous century
Outside outside of that we had only a few guys with broken bones
Encrypted and secure tactical subnets are already possible, but frankly it's really hard to add any visual element to the view of a soldier that aids their tactical understanding instead of hindering it. I think one of the first things we'll see would be shared reference points and target markers, but pointing and talking is a remarkably good way of getting important information across, anyway. As a software engineer, I know we go overboard sometimes, and veteran enlisted will ask "how can I turn this off so I can see what I want to shoot?". I would be very interested in any developments in this field myself. That's some seriously fancy tactical-net type gear they've got, makes me wonder if we couldn't do that now and it's just too expensive...
The MC specifically outlines why it went easy, and it was because they had a chance to stack every advantage possible in their favor and cheat like motherfuckers - as well as being able to poison the bugs with enough insecticide to drop a small town. They were literally fighting dying bugs and still working for it. As the mantis spirit example showed, the fight can swing in the other direction really fast if the bugs get lucky.Huh, after the mantis spirits I was expecting the bugs to be a lot more scary, but this narration made it sound routine.
Well, Shadowrun of course has cyberpunk-level tech and fully-integrated Augmented Reality displays, as well as the fact that all of the Ares troopers are using neural interfaces. Helps with the perception bandwidth.Encrypted and secure tactical subnets are already possible, but frankly it's really hard to add any visual element to the view of a soldier that aids their tactical understanding instead of hindering it.
You might remember that he was the calm one even during the mantis fight. It was a good explanation, made sense. I was just surprised compared to the last chapter, that's all. Of course in real life roaches are less formidable than mantises too. Maybe it was just his emotional tone was calmer? I'd be fairly worked up, even with an APC worth of battle armor on me.
Aww fuuuuck! Learning about Shadowrun-style cybernetics was bad enough, but that? That is somehow worse. Good grief."You're telling me that every fucking bug I've put a bullet in since I got here used to be a person?"
It was also mentioned that the Roaches are the 'quantity vs. quality' compared to the Mantis' being the frontline murderblenders. Elite mooks.Huh, after the mantis spirits I was expecting the bugs to be a lot more scary, but this narration made it sound routine.
The end cut offYou're natural NCO material, Mitchell, and Knight Errant needs to develop as many of those as possible." he
Something's missing at the end.ou touch just seems to run a little smoother or calmer than it would have without you. You're natural NCO material, Mitchell, and Knight Errant needs to develop as many of those as possible." he
Is this 'pair'?"So do you get it?" I finished, after explaining my whole chain of reasoning while we had dim lighting, a private booth, a paif of well-practiced prison whispers, and a whole shit ton of loud music off the dance floor to hopefully defeat any eavesdroppers. "Whatever the hell is going on there, we don't want any of it."
I think there's a missing word here between see and happenDid you see happen to notice anything and you'd better blank it the hell out of your memory if you did
agre instead of acre, this gave me a funny mental image of an island made of sleeping ogres
