Video Games General

Anybody who has CK3's administrative and landless dlc can recommend it? Is playing as either fun? Or even just 'yes, but not for 30 €'?

Which is a shame, because I was planning on hoarding more ammo to make the game easier

When I press F7 nothing pops up so I can type it

May have something to do with me accidentally pressing F9 and the game shutting down
 
Space Marine 2 and Dustborn alongside Veilguard of Dragon Age? The first one for the right reason and the latter two for making bad decisions for a good laugh.

That would require you to narrow it down. Though, personally, it's more "dislike" than actual "hate".

My investment in the Dragon Age series died with Inquisition, so I wouldn't have touched Veilguard anyway. I think modern Star Wars is mostly crap, so Star Wars Outlaws also wasn't on the table. Concord was a trash fire anyway, so that's not gonna be touched either. Dustborn.... A-HAHAHAH!!... no.

Honestly, it would probably be easier to point out the games I didn't dislike.

But, on a brighter note, there were several games I got into this year that I legitimately enjoyed. A lot.

I got into Deep Rock Galactic, which has been a blast. Don't play it as much as I used to when I got it, but I still fire it up every other week. And I main Driller, because the best way to the drop pod is the direct way. I don't care if solid rock is in the way.

I started playing Foxhole, which surprised me in that I thought I'd end up being just a grunt, or a sapper digging trenches, but ended up being a Medic, where I found out that darting into what seems like certain death through massed enemy gunfire, just to save a wounded man in the no man's land, was much more exciting than sending lead down range, while getting a first-hand experience of many "Gamers turning into Voice Actors" moments, which is just fun. Haven't gotten to play Logi yet though.

Brigador, which let me indulge in my inner war criminal by dissolving enemies with acid gas, or firing Cancer Lasers at them (the acid gas in particular is a remarkably effective weapon), while piloting tanks and mechs. Still struggling a bit with the Agravs though, as I try to play the game with Relative Controls, aka "Tank Controls", as the Devs intended. Some of the Campaign missions are just sadistic though.
 
Much better question, what games released this year have people really enjoyed?
Discounting remasters and the like, The first game on my list is Under Night In-Birth 2. It suffered from the usual issues fighting game sequels of its type has, but they added a whole lot to the game and I really enjoy it.

Slave Zero X has also been really good, though it's suffered from a few technical issues. The biggest one that's made me pause my playthrough is some people have been getting their saves wiped, so I'm waiting for the next patch to keep going.

Forgive Me Father 2. A Lovecraftian "Boomer Shooter" with a visual design I really enjoy. It's everything I love about the first one just with technical and mechanical improvements.

Counting remasters/rereleases SMTV Vengeance has been a blast.
 
I'm interested to see how the next Legends game pans out. Legends Arceus was a fun time.

I am joking. True, that is a good trick. Maybe a state that goes beyond that? What about a state that turns them into a prehistoric version of those Pokémon? That sounds nice doesn't it?

A charizard's ancestor, might be a massive fat dragon that likes to wallow in lava. Or maybe just float lazily across the sky.
 
What's it like? The game I mean.
A mix of strategy/RPG. Th map is real time unless you pause to plan and you fight by deploying and moving squad of units you assemble. You gotta take into account what yoru characters do to make sure they work together well. Armroed is for tanking and prtecting squishier characters, cavalier trample infantry, but get mauled by flying units they have trouble hitting. Archers murder infantry, scouts are great at dodging melee blows, mages mutilate armored... Elves can mix in magic with physical attacks, beasts units get a boost at night, angel units all fly and have their own specialities... If you know Ogre Battle, Unicorn Overlrod is like that.

As for the plot, you're the prince forced into hiding as an evil empire conquer hte world, until you start the revolution to beat them back, to liberate your kingdom and liberate the others too. It's pretty much straight good versus evil and it's a breath of fresh air compared to so many games that try to put gray everywhere these days.

And it got talk betwene characters like Fire Emblem too, to learn more about them.

Been playing Veilguard so far, as a Dragon age fan its been interesting to say the least. Lore drops being smacked into me are quite something, the combat is more than I expected it to be but definitely feels more deeper Dragon age 2 combat with a bit of Andromeda tactile abilities brought in.

So far I'm surprisingly enjoying it more than I thought I would, this push was brought on more because I kept seeing videos poo pooing it and I wanted to give it a fair chance. I will update more on it as I get deeper about things I dislike/liked. I will say character creator gave me the Andromeda feeling and its not the "ugly" per say but more "I have to learn to do this deeper to make a decent looking character."

Not a fan of how Inquisition choices in the back were relegated as such to few key choices instead of overall ones but that's something that I should have expected from generally somewhat feeble longevity. As it is the game is about a 7/10 so far for me, its an average game and I haven't experienced any issues so far, technical that is heh.

I will say not too huge a fan about the materials and weapon upgrading as I do worry it'll hit me with the usual RPG problems of "well you just spent resources on this and found a better weapon immediately" so I'm hoarding(I swear it will be important and its not a problem or anything ;})

I heard you can no longer treat all your companions like they're the protagonist of their own story. Their skill tree has only five abilities in general each companion.

Also, who you played as? I mean the race of your Rook? A Qunarian Rogue or a Human Mage?

In terms of the continuation its a bit of a let down for certain, I forgive that because I knew this wasn't going to be anything more than a newer studio and people in charge likely did not want to continue on the path set and wanted to diverge. I also felt that way with it being a new team which meant they were going to modernize it which they did with the skill tree and the simplification of the companion situation.

I'm still playing a first playthrough but I'm playing human rook Grey Warden with the contention to romance Scout Harding. I will say not a fan of the new Varric look I much preferred his orange look.

I just got uh...whats his face...the possessed assassin after dealing with the Tevinters, also I find it hilarious so far that the tevinter imperium without fail still ain't learning they need to stop fucking around and being shit heads.

Edit: Oh shoot I didn't answer the Skill tree part of this: I am currently unsure about it, I feel very weird to see a deep expanse of a tree like that but then dragon age had large trees like this. It does feel like I'm doing Path of Exile at times though lol. I do love they let me change out points without needing an item, build versatility is quite big.

Oh and combat wise I do want to mention Not a fan of the shields/armor/barriers breakage. The stagger meter does feel somewhat meh when I'm two handing and dealing more dmg with combo moves and CC abilities to get takedowns.

Does the Maker exist? What were the Scaled Ones? Did the Antaam really go rogue and if so, how? Because I don't see Sten NOT taking this one lying down and are there civilizations beyond Thedas and how do they relate?

The antaam are in antiva currently at my time of playthrough and i cannot imagine Sten is currently relevant currently? The maker and scaled ones as well as the civilizations beyond thedas I cannot answer yet but i can say ive learned more interesting lore about the blight, the evanuris and the dark spawn at the moment. I will try to keep in mind more stuff as i come across it.

Edit: Sten is an arishok but I believe he's off doing other things. ATM I'm early on in the invasion of antiva with trevisio. It seems this was not a sanctioned event which sprang from the failure of the dragon breath weapon in trespasser.

I checked the wiki

It looks like the subtle issues they had for centuries, finally popped up, turns out the Antaam being the guys most likely to go Tal-Vashoth was in part because they got rid of the "softer" voices and disciplined aggression is still aggression

Sten's given up on being Arishok, feels OOC to me, and now works under the Ben-Hasserath's more defensive branch

So much sounds like a waste and OOC
