Man it would be awesome to see TransformersPaul recruit a dinobot as a third member of their mercenary group, or some other animal based transformer, who he rides when Slipstream isn't available. Maybe have them be a former Autobot disillusioned by the war, not to the point of ever siding with the Decepticons, but they don't hesitate to bring up how much the war has costed them as a species and sees further conflict an effort in futility.

Other than that it's too bad we don't see Miko's reaction to the human-bot relationship, or asking the rest of the autobots about their own lovelifes, and teasing Jack and Arcee over their partnership.

Other than that it's too bad we don't see Miko's reaction to the human-bot relationship, or asking the rest of the autobots about their own lovelifes, and teasing Jack and Arcee over their partnership.
We'll probably see something like that if we ever cut back to this reality.

Where is it?

I know the wards which protect Themyscira pretty well. I know what they block and what they don't. I've overflown the area it covers on Earth 16 at sea level both directed -in the hope that my permission carries over- and blind -in the hope that it would prevent the wards sending me astray- and…

No island.

I've checked most of the rest of the Aegean and no luck. They recognised Diana so there must be a Themyscira, but it's not… Here.

Okay, where else has it been in the comics?

I think there was a time when it was entirely divorced from the material universe. If that's what happened here them I'm out of luck. Even if I could in theory access it, I-.

Alright, I might be able to access it through ritual magic. I know the offering preferred by various Olympians, and I haven't done anything to alienate the local gods. But is there any.. thing…

The Bermuda Triangle. A meteorological non-phenomenon invented by a newspaper editor during a slow news day, first giving the impression that there was an area near Bermuda that had a more-than-typical number of shipping losses, and second to imply a supernatural explanation for losses that in fact were not occurring.

Oh, it's a smaller area than the Aegean. It won't take all that long to check.

Formerly Demon Diana in tow, I set course.

"Orange Lantern to The Bat. Any updates for me?"

There's a short delay as we fly over Sicily.

"Donner has revived, and is currently gorging to fuel her regenerative abilities. The situation in Greece is in hand, and your prisoners are being held securely."

"If he asks, please inform Leatherwing that pulling out their finger nails won't help the situation."

"I think that we can leave informing Leatherwing for now."

"Interesting. I can't imagine my parallel's version of him not being in the loop, even if people were trying to keep him out of it."

"You have a Leatherwing?"

"We have a Batman. Similar look, considerably more regard for the sanctity of human life."

"I am sure that there are many differences between our worlds. Do you intend to maintain contact once this issue is resolved?"

"I'll leave that up to Angelika. There are some rather extreme philosophical differences between our two parallels."

"Are you a Bolshevik?"

"No, the Soviets lost the Cold War. That was-. After what we call World War Two, the Communists and the… Other participants in the War spent several decades in competition and indirect warfare before the contradictions inherent in the Soviet system caused it to fall apart."

"At least they didn't win. What about Germany?"

"You lost Danzig, Pomerania and Silesia to Poland and the Soviet Union. And Austria went back to being independent."

"The French let us keep the Rhineland?"

"You actually beat the French. Completely overran them, occupied the north and made the south a nationalist puppet. We still make… Unfair jokes about how badly the French did. By the time the war was over, the 'free' French were a British puppet with delusions of grandeur. What happened to Germany wasn't really up to them. Though de Gaulle was surprisingly reasonable about the whole thing, considering."

"What became of Overman?"

"He didn't arrive for another forty years, and he landed in America."

"It's interesting to me. I realise that Overgirl is best placed to judge how we could interact, but I would like to request a history book, if that is possible."

"I'll trade you."

"Certainly. I-."

And here we are.

And there it is. Too dark for the fishing boats to still be out, and the architecture is different to what I'm used to, but the general shape of the island is the same. The people… They don't look Greek. Themyscira 16 has a range of ethnicities, but it's fairly obvious looking at them where the vast majority come from. Dark skinned Amazons like Philippus or Nubia are in a vanishingly small minority. Heck, Nubia's literally named after the place in North Africa where her parents came from. Similarly, the handful of Amazons with blonde hair have forebears from the far north.

Here, things are clearly diff-.

I jerk to the side as an arrow flies past me.

Clearly different. I-.

The arrow reverses course and flies at my back.

And immediately I respect them more than how the women back home were before I arrived.

I generate a construct shield and block the arrow. It-. Yes, it hits with more than human strength, but there's nothing special about the impact other than that. I should probably return it.

I accelerate once more, heading for the… The battlement where the arrow came from. I take a white flag, add the sigil of the Wonder Woman to my shield and enlarge it. That should at least give them a little pause. Yes, one of them is ordering the others to stand at-ready rather than straight out attacking.

"Hail, Amazons of Themyscira!"

That's the woman with the bow. She's wearing old school Wonder Woman gear from back before Hephaestus made the swim wear version that Diana wears, as well as the Gauntlets of Atlas and the Sandals of Hermes. Her hair is… Pale orange, and impractically long.

I… No, haven't seen her on Themyscira 16.

"Invader."

She's standing in the middle of a plaza, while other guards back off to the edges. She's staring me down, so I make a point of averting my eyes.

"I apologise for the intrusion, but this Amazon was possessed by an-" I move Diana out in front and remove some of the construct straps from the bier holding her to the construct board. Obviously, the bindings are still in place, just in case. "-evil spirit, and I was hoping that you would be willing to help her."

Her eyes move to Diana for an instant but return to me immediately afterwards. "She is possessed?"

"No, I've dealt with that. Or at least I think I have. But there might be residual damage I can't diagnose."

"You say she is an Amazon? What is her name?"

"Diana. Does that name not.. mean anything to you?"

"I know seven women called Diana. I do not recognise this one." She studies me a moment longer. "That is all that you want?"

"That's what I want most from you. There are other matters, but they're less significant."

"I would not be an Amazon if I denied aid to a woman in need. You will explain yourself fully to the Archon while healers are fetched. Do not attempt to leave my sight."

also has the world turning to shit turned the Earth 10 Amazons completely isolationist and militant? The use of 'Archon' instead of 'Queen' feels that way. But if the native Earth 10 Diana died in battle decades ago and how Demon Earth is a lost cause, could they rehabilitate and use the captured Diana as a new Princess?

As several readers have pointed, what is true on Earth 16 is not necessarily true for other universes.

Leatherwing may not be an investigator, aside from the torture.

For one, Batman and Leatherwing are two different people that just dress in a similar way instead of being the same person from different universes.

'Germany'

"Diana. Does that name not.. mean anything to you?"

Not surprising.

Diana may have left the island when she was very young and the Demon Earth version could be an adult now.

Or maybe one of the differences between universes is how some people looked.

Or Hippolyta was the Wonder Woman.

' Germany ' and ' Gaulle '

also has the world turning to shit turned the Earth 10 Amazons completely isolationist and militant? The use of 'Archon' instead of 'Queen' feels that way. But if the native Earth 10 Diana died in battle decades ago and how Demon Earth is a lost cause, could they rehabilitate and use the captured Diana as a new Princess?

Seems like Hyppolita might have been the local Wonder Woman and that would explain no Diana and a new regent.

If their Wonder Woman died then they may be feeling more paranoid so that's why their using more magic weaponry.

The Earth 16 Amazons also apparently had a number of powerful magic objects in storage but didn't use them either because there was no point since no one was invading or you had to do something to prove yourself to wield them.

Though the Amazons from the comics were also fairly paranoid about outsiders, so it's possible they were like this even before Earth 10 Wonder Woman died.

And while the whole Archon thing could point to Hyppolita being dead it may also just be a small difference in how the Amazons from Earth 10 refer to their leader, and Hyppolita is still alive.

Google says that Archon was an old Greek title for someone holding public office and was synonymous with the word "ruler" (I'll take it with a grain of salt but assume it's true). Which means that either the Amazon's deposed their royalty, Diana left during WW2 and lost/died leading to Hippolyta leaving as well or committing suicide out of grief or this parallel is just straight up divergent and can't be compared to others when it comes to Amazons. I could be completely off base though so maybe the Amazon's just decided to become a socialist commune out of spite for the Nationalist Socialists.

' Germany ' and ' Gaulle '
Thank you, corrected.

Y'know.. this version of Themyscira could have extensive relations with Atlantis or another city-state. I'd be delighted to see how the landlubbers would develop if there was cooperative research and demigod research.

Hmm. I could also see a New God arriving on this version of Themyscira. It is an attractive target and keeping a lid on how demigods/clerics could manipulate New God tech would be a solid way to keep them under control.

Well, looks like he's having a bit of difficulty with his plan. :p I suppose certain people will be pleased. Still, it's not unexpected. Not every reality keeps its Paradise Island in the same place. I can imagine the Olympian patrons of the Amazons deciding its original position was a little risky.

No island.

Ah, letting your preconceptions blind you, OL. You of all people should remember things can be different between universes.

More than once, in fact. One notable instance was during Infinite Crisis, when the Goddesses took it away for safety, leaving Diana, Donna and Cassie Sandsmark behind...

Alright, I might be able to access it through ritual magic. I know the offering preferred by various Olympians, and I haven't done anything to alienate the local gods. But is there any.. thing…
That would be an interesting moment on Olympus...

And sadly, not as mystical as fiction claims it to be... Seems more like confirmation bias misleading people.

"Donner has revived, and is currently gorging to fuel her regenerative abilities. The situation in Greece is in hand, and your prisoners are being held securely."
So, all's well on those fronts. No hard feelings on Donner's part, I hope.

"If he asks, please inform Leatherwing that pulling out their finger nails won't help the situation."

"I think that we can leave informing Leatherwing for now."
Heh. Joy of a reasonable authority figure... He won't stand for unnecessary torture, I suppose.

"Interesting. I can't imagine my parallel's version of him not being in the loop, even if people were trying to keep him out of it."

"You have a Leatherwing?"
...God, I hope not. I mean, there might be a Midnighter out there... Though we know how Mr Zoat feels about new 52 stuff, and the Wildstorm integration was part of that...

"We have a Batman. Similar look, considerably more regard for the sanctity of human life."

"I am sure that there are many differences between our worlds. Do you intend to maintain contact once this issue is resolved?"
Opening up interdimensional contact? I'm sure that will have all kinds of repercussions...

"I'll leave that up to Angelika. There are some rather extreme philosophical differences between our two parallels."

"Are you a Bolshevik?"
...No, not really... Certainly, he's not one for the more extreme aspects of their philosophy...

 Best not to mention the Cold War bits... Not sure how he'd react to hearing his country got split in half for most of fifty years...

"You lost Danzig, Pomerania and Silesia to Poland and the Soviet Union. And Austria went back to being independent."

"The French let us keep the Rhineland?"
...Sure, let's go with that.

"You actually beat the French. Completely overran them, occupied the north and made the south a nationalist puppet. We still make… Unfair jokes about how badly the French did. But the time the war was over, the 'free' French were a British puppet with delusions of grandeur. What happened to German wasn't really up to them. Though de Gaul was surprisingly reasonable about the whole thing, considering."
To be fair on them, the French commanders were expecting a repeat of World War I tactics: slowly-advancing battlelines that could be disrupted by 'invincible' stationary defences and a bit of aerial harassment... The whole 'Blitzkrieg' thing caught them off guard.

"What became of Overman?"

"He didn't arrive for another forty years, and he landed in America."
Also dresses in much more 'friendly' colours. Oh, sure, black and dark grey looks good on Overman, but he's a little... Imposing.

"It's interesting to me. I realise that Overgirl is best placed to judge how we could interact, but I would like to request a history book, if that it possible."

"I'll trade you."
Heh. They'll probably read like alternate history fiction to each other.

And here we are.

Probably the first time an outsider has come to them since World War II, I bet. You can forgive them for their hospitality being a little rusty.

Artemis, usually of Bana-Mighdall, a little-known sister tribe of the Amazons. Amusingly, she once did take Diana's place as Wonder Woman during the 90's.

Well, contact has been made. Tense contact, but reasonably peaceful. Now, I really hope we get to see him explain where Diana came from, and the whole 'demonic invasion' situation. Which is really going to get some jaws fluttering. It'll be interesting to see the differences in the Amazons' culture here, too. Especially who the Archon is.

That may not be the case since this version of Atlantis is under Nazi rule so the Amazons may not want to have anything to do with them.

Though it may be possible since the Atlanteans hate the Nazis, but contact may be difficult since the Nazis could be keeping a close eye.

However with magic, which the Nazis dismiss, it may be possible.

If they had extensive relations with Atlantis then they'd have to be another puppet of the Germans.

Germany conquered Atlantis, and the only reason the Nazis didn't exterminate them is because the SS was convinced Atlanteans were Proto-Aryans.

I don't think Earth 10 really knows much of anything about Themyscira.

I can imagine the Olympian patrons of the Amazons deciding its original position was a little risky.

Extra safety and all that.

The martian perhaps.

Also Sentinel, their version of Green Lantern, and probably that Valkirye.

God, I hope not. I mean, there might be a Midnighter out there... Though we know how Mr Zoat feels about new 52 stuff, and the Wildstorm integration was part of that...

He did make the new superhero team from the Justice Lords universe use the name Stormwatch, though.

Heh. They'll probably read like alternate history fiction to each other.

Now I'm imagining that book somehow being leaked and it becoming something like their version of The Man in the High Castle.

Cheeky! Looks like they're a lot more mystically-talented...

Or they just decided to use their mystic equipment more than their Earth 16 counterparts, who had things like mystic weaponry but didn't really use it since there wasn't much need seeing as aside from that attack by Circe and Sorrow, they haven't really been invaded.

That'll probably get them thinking. A man showing deference? Unheard of! :p

Not necessarily.

Remember they once used to be pretty powerful in Greece so it's possible that they were showed deference back then.

Y'know, with as many people live on Themyscira in most universes, there must be more than a few amazons who share given names. Wonder if they use epithets or descriptions to differentiate them... 'You know, short Artesia with the red hair, and the big bosom... No, the really big ones.'

Either that or they live far enough from each other that the people they interact with on a daily basis don't need to use epithets or descriptors to differentiate them since they're unlikely to run into others that share the same name.

Best to check about the 'Man setting foot on Paradise island' thing too. Namely, a condition that the Amazons would loose their blessings if any man walked on the soil of the island... It was usually gotten around by male visitors being carried or simply flying.

And in Justice League Action, Joker got around that by being in the water but very close to the island so he could talk to them while he and Luthor went on a merry global adventure.

You can certainly tell that Paragon's British here... :p

Even if you discount the Vehicons, bombing the Nemesis would be literally killing half of the known surviving Cybertronians, so yeah, Optimus would probably be willing to try anything and everything possible before resorting to that.
Yeah, but with the cons gone, they'd be free to retrieve the allspark and repopulate that way.

When QuantumBranching did a map/writeup cover of the world of G1 Transformers, he explained it as the Cybertronians shifting their mass into a pocket dimension, and that looking too closely at it will make humans a bit uncomfortable.

(I am admittedly not a TF fan, but I thought that was a pretty cool idea.)
Yeah, it was how Soundwave was able to become a human scale cassette player despite his robot mode being something like twenty feet tall.
IIRC the amount of mass they could "pocket" varied between individuals as part of their individual abilities.
Most had enough "space" to carry their weapon and sometimes a bit of chassis mass.
Skywarp could cram his whole body in there, which is how he was able to teleport short distances.

In the non-pocket continuities, they can justify a certain amount based on the fact that many vehicles are mostly empty interior space. A car that's been through the crusher is about the size of a small fridge for example.

That's actually funny because while Free France was a British puppet, they still managed to get sit at the table of the victors (unlike every other country that was conquered by Germany) mostly because De Gaulle was not reasonable (and Churchill was francophile). And they spent most of the Cold War trying to stay independant from America (having their own nuclear weapons, leaving NATO, forming the UE), unlike the British who spent the next decades becoming an American puppet, and keep doing everything in their power to be America's vassal.

Also, we do make a lot of jokes about British being American lapdogs and greedy backstabbers

Funnily enough, both Churchill and Roosevelt fucking hated De Gaulle. They even considered just out right getting rid of him and finding someone who wasn't as much of a piece of shit to cooperate with, and the only reason they didn't go through with it is because they worried doing so would cause France to cozy up to the Soviets once the Germans were finally dealt with.

Look, if you hadn't wanted us to blow up your entire fleet then you should have found a neutral port for it.
You misunderstand, we love you for WW1 and WW2 (except for a few cunts in the Navy, but I'm more a Air Force guy). But we still hate you for:
  • the Hundred Years War,
  • having a bigger colonial empire than us,
  • not letting us make a repeat of Carthage with London under Napoleon,
  • getting the son of Napoleon the Third killed,
  • joining Europe late,
  • leaving Europe (although some do find the problems that followed hilarious)
  • not letting Scotland take back its independance (just after the Brexit, we were really hoping for you to dig yourselves deeper)
  • not using Euro like everyone else
  • helping the Americans with that deal with the Australians
  • creating English food
  • making us side with the Germans about Europe
  • a lot of other meaningless things
